Ghosts US Season Five spoilers and general discussion

Nitpick, neither Bela nor Abby can see the ghosts but they are aware of their existence. And to that list, you should of course add Jay.

She’s on the road with the band that bought the car.

Effectively written off.

I meant to title that list: List of Livings who Know Sam Can See the Ghosts. Oops. So Bela, Abby, Kyle and Jay.

I still think it would be funny if Trevor possed Jay for one episode ant that’s how Bela finally gets to meet him in the flesh.

I could be wrong, but I think @simster is confusing Joan (ghost of 40s Hollywood screenwriter who can roam like Pete) with a car-bound ghost named Jessica, played by Nichole Sakura. Sasappis briefly had a thing with her, so Jay and Sam bought the car, which was owned by (I think) a slacker musician who traveled a lot. But she missed traveling and getting to smell fast food, so Sasappis let her go, and Jay and Sam convinced the slacker musician to take the car back.

Joan was the ghost Sasappis lost his virginity to. But then, in a ‘Three’s Company’-worthy scene, Sasappis overheard Joan practicing a speech declaring her love for Sasappis, but Sass thought she meant Pete, and got angry with her. So she left. I don’t remember exactly how she left the property, though.

Hard to keep track of the prolific love (after)life of these ghosts!

You are correct - I had completely forgotten Joan even existed at this moment.

Now I’ll have to go back and rewatch a few S4 episodes to remember.

Sub-par episode (I’m referring to S5E5: T-Daddy, aired on 19 November 2025). I did rather enjoy seeing Heddy outside of her normal constraints and normal clothing, talking things over with her juvenile employees. I do like seeing them when they show the Ghosts in vignettes from their pasts, when they were alive or otherwise (I enjoyed the scene where Thorfinn met Sesappis for the first time and spoke to him in perfect Lenape).

The show is going to have to deal with the fact that Sam & Jay are borderline destitute, while Trevor is making bank and buying Porsches that he can’t drive, and for which he’s setting up shell companies to own. If he has that much money, he can help out Sam & Jay. Especially since, he’s, you know, dead and can’t really use the money beyond buying lavish gifts for his daughter who doesn’t even know him.

It’s more likely that they never mention again that Sam & Jay are broke while Trevor is wealthy. (And I’m wondering how he set up bank accounts without a valid Social Security number.)

I think it came out in a previous episode that he was using Jay’s personal data to work (I think Jay even got roped into pretending he was Trevor in one episode, to keep the charade up). So basically “Jay Arandukar” is earning bank, but Trevor Lefkowitz is setting up shell companies and whatnot so the real Jay Arandukar can’t touch it.

On the subject of Trevor’s money, I’d assume that whatever wealth he had when he died in 2000 would have gone to his parents, as it wasn’t known at the time that he had any heirs. But now that it’s come out that he fathered a daughter that Pinkus raised, if Abby is entitled to any of that money, either morally or legally. Does New York law say anything about this type of situation (viz, it turns out that a deceased had a child who wasn’t known about when his estate was settled)?

My guess is that their financial struggles will never be a big issue to the point where it drives them off the property or into the poorhouse. Rather, it’ll more likely add context. When lack of money comes up, Trevor will bail them out to keep them afloat. It’s in his best interests to do that, since Sam is the ghosts’ link to the living and if Sam leaves, the ghosts are left in their parallel universe and no way to interact (other than by their limited ghost powers). Jay/Sam may feel uncomfortable taking Trevor’s money, but they will, just to keep the show going, but taking it may cause some tension.

“A gay colonizer!”

It was cute to see them fighting over whose people were the most oppressed. My money is on Sessappis, followed by Alberta and then Trevor. Not that it’s a contest.

Did they fire all the good writers on Ghosts this season? I mean, this last one was pure cheap sitcom cringe- except the B story.

Ever since Rose had her baby, Sam has been written weird. I don’t know if Rose had had lingering post-partum issues or was/is pregnant again or if some gross exec at CBS sent down a creepy directive, but she’s almost always sitting or behind something. And I think she looks fine. But her not moving around a lot kind of gives the show a slow feel? People make fun of it but Sorkin’s Walk And Talks really did give shows some energy. Every episode is Sam sitting at the kitchen table and the ghosts standing around talking to her while Jay is oblivious and not caring. I still think it’s funny but there’s a physical chaos that’s missing.

Also, Bela wtf? I’m starting to really hate her because of her insensitivity. It was nice to have Sass use his ghost power more, though

Yeah, that was nice.
