Gilmore Girls - Always The Godmother, Never The God - 10/04/05

Wow, the title of the thread barely fit into the header field.

Anyway, last night we saw Lorelei and Rory together for only the second time since she moved out. And that was just because Sookie decided to step in and make things right. You think she would have learned by now that those two are a force of nature, and mere mortals should not try to influence their paths. Luke knows it.

Rory and Lane also got to catch up with each other. It seemed a little forced at first, but they quickly fell into their same old friendship.

I liked how both resorted to character at the baptism: Lorelei interupted to ceremony to bicker with Rory, and Rory seemed mortified about it, but still stood up for herself.

So where is this going next? And how long is it going to take for Tom and his crew to finish the addition to Lorelei’s house?

I liked this episode, and will be adding “snarkastic” to my working vocabulary. Lorelai seemed a little afraid to connect with Rory. Although I think the rift between them is more Rory’s fault than hers, it seems that Lorelai is having trouble accepting that she’s no longer Rory’s best friend, and was finding it easier to keep her distance than face a new phase in their relationship.

But why did Zach and Brian, members of a band that takes comically pretentious pride in their raw, unpolished sound, spend $9000 on computerized recording equipment? I would think an old 4-track reel-to-reel would be more their speed. That must have been some salesman!

He was a great salesman.
I think they’re just a couple of music geeks who just have to have the latest gadgets, and besides, they had the money for it. I’m just wondering where in Star’s Hollow there could be a shop selling high-end computer gear. Is it by Miss Patty’s Dance Studio, or is it something that Taylor has stashed in the back of the grocery store?

I had forgotten the little exchange between Rory and Kirk while walking up to the church
Kirk: “This is the suit my father was burried in.”
Rory: confusion - shock - confusion again
“I’m just going to let that one go.”
