Gilmore Girls - Partings 5/9/06

Sorry to come in late on this thread, but I had Tivo’d the episode and didn’t see it until today. The recording cut out the last minute or so though, so I’m not sure what I missed. The last I saw was Lorelai in bed, facing the camera, and Christopher gets back in bed after sending Gigi off to school. Did anything else happen or was it a fade to black after that? Thanks!

That was the end of the episode. I can’t put my finger on it but I get a weird “if you are rich, you’ll do well, if you are poor, no love for you” vibe from this show. Christopher was a loser when he had no money, He inherits and suddenly he is the Golden Child. All of Rory’s relationships have followed this model as well. Perhaps Emily did a better job indoctrinating the girls than they (or even she) realize.

I agree that L&L have acted wildly out of character this season. April should NOT be causing this much turmoil for Luke, Lorelai shouldn’t be keeping her mouth shut and not talking about what is bothering her. Hiding in her own freakin’ house? No way would she have done that before this year.

I’m disappointed that L&L don’t seem to be working out. I for one, liked them together but I understand the “alive with Chris” comments.

Personally, I think most of the troubadors were there because they caught a whiff of Sookie and Jackson’s secret stash…

That’s pretty much where I am too.

I might wait to see what the new writers can do, but I’m frustrated with the character inconsistency. Of course, the best thing about the show has always been the dialog, so maybe that will redeem it.

I couldn’t disagree more. In my opinion the main theme of the show has been… “Rich people are fucking terrible people”
Richard and Emily have gotten better but really… their shittiness is played for laughs a lot of the time. The Huntzbergers… shitty people. Logan’s friends… shitty dudes. The bridesmaids vapid shitty girls. Rory’s been exploring that.

Christopher has always had money. The only difference is that now he’s his own man (to some extent) and has learned how to be responsible (thanks a lot to Lorelai).

There’s nothing about
