girlie bars are good for your marriage.. ask the owner

Exactly * are* girlie bars good for your marriage? Is it just that they give the man a space of his own? What, he can’t go golfing or play pool? Hanging out with prostitutes is good for your marriage?

nope drinks are not watered down for the customers. ( in fact they get exceptionally healthy (sic) measures).

ladies drinks are given in essentially shot sized glasses but seeiing as they work a full shift most girls either drink iced tea or ‘house margerita’ which is also designed not to get them wrecked. if the lady likes the guy and wants get drunk with him then she gets what she wants. and orders

prostitution is illegal in philippines also.

there are no drugs in my bar ( or even in the bars in the same street) absolutely nothing underage. ( you know seriously i have never ever come across this as being a problem in manila) if the guy is rude or generally being a prick he is thrown out.

we generate an lot of income for the city so the city tolerates us. we dont go out ofthe way to pess anyone off

Antinor - Do strip clubs in the States really not involve prostitution? Would a girl be fired if she took a punter home?

Manila - do the girls do lap dances? Could you describe one?

I didn’t say they never do, I said it wasn’t normal.

If there was prostitution, it would most likely be independent on the part of the girl. Depending on the state, a club could lose its liquor license for even allowing lap dances or any touching of any kind. In Pennsylvania, they can’t even be completely nude.

As an aside, I’ve been in gay clubs in DC that show porn on the TVs. We can’t do that in PA, either.

Apologies - should have added “normally” myself.

So when SO says “you can look but you can’t touch” s/he could be only pointing out the law.

Just for the record, as NYC strip clubs go, Scores sucks (and not in any kind of good kind of sucking).

What is the legal age in the Philippines?

I’d bet that HER law imposes harsher penalties for a violation here than the actual law…

Anything first popularized by Howard Stern would have a low chance of being good (IMHO).

I’ve not much to add here really, but I wanted thank manila for starting this thread. Yay! Someone who understands the bars are not the demonic dens of iniquity the Western media luridly portray them as. I’ve not been in the bar business myself except as a drinker, but I know a few owners and plenty of the girls (these days just on a chatting basis, not a pay-for-play one). My wife has no qualms whatsoever about my hitting the bars occasionally, as I’ll be doing tonight. Our relationship is pretty solid.

May I just say that when I go to Thailand, we definitely have to hangout. It won’t be anytime soon, but you always sound really cool and like you know how to have a good time

Excellent. Flash Dopefest in Bangkok - we’ll all meet at the bar with the bargirls and the expensive drinks and the drunk westerners - you know the one.

After that, Manila on the way home.

RESPONSE: That is, if I get the gist of his entry. Girly bars are good for his business. Girly bars bring in money. Money is good. Money makes him happy, so please go to girly bars.

Phil

Well, okay, if you insist.

The thread title reminds me of when a friend of mine worked at a photo place (you know, before everyone went digital). He, of course, used to make copies of all the best shots. He once brought a whole roll’s worth of pics to a party– the first half was this guy in bed with at least four Thai hookers, the second was of his traditional-looking wedding. I felt a bit bad for the bride at first, but with (likely herpes-ridden) balls like that, the groom was surely caught for something else within a month.

Not necessarily. The girls here tend to keep themselves pretty clean. Still, I hope he was wearing a condom!

Scores is pretty much the worst strip club I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a bunch.
