Girls Week Out at the Beach: An MMP

Honestly,** Swampy**–you missed the point! Can Vbob BE an honorary gay guy? He sucks (so he says) at decorating (although I say the car decor shows a certain flair), but he may have other qualifications. :smiley:

Off to eat dinner. I am not hungry much anymore–let’s hope it leads to something like weight loss. I’d like to lose 15 lbs.

Great news, Bobbio.

MCUNE, it looks covered, but maybe chips and salsa if you feel you need to bring something? If you usually contribute, I think it’s fine to skip bringing food occasionally.

Thinking about the chusky, I realized that I was thinking that one of my neighbors has a husky, but it isn’t. It’s an enormous, floofy, brown and white dog, about Shetland pony size. Picturing that and another neighbor’s chihuahua just seemed anatomically impossible. MamaTigs, what in the heck makes up a boggle puppy? A beagle and ? Nevermind, I looked it up. A Boston terrier and a beagle. I don’t get it, really, I don’t. Why do people pay a fortune for a mutt, when they could go to the pound for the same thing and make up a cute breed name if that’s what they want?

I just received an email from the National Personnel Records Center that they’ve received my request for my dad’s records, and I should have something in 21 days or so. It’s coming up on the 10th anniversary of his suicide, and about a week before he died, he was going through his Vietnam stuff. He had never, ever talked about it, but he did that one time. In retrospect, of course, it’s clear that he was wrapping up the loose ends of his life. Anyway, it’s something that I’ve been curious about, but finally got up the nerve to make the request last week. I know what I get won’t tell me much, but at least it will be something, and maybe I can get some closure. Even though he never talked about it, Vietnam was always present in our house when I was growing up. Sorry for the rambling, but this anniversary is hitting me harder than I anticipated.

**tarra ** - do you have access to a pool? Walking in water is easy on the knees, but a good workout as you force your body against the resistance. Or swim even.

**McUne ** - how about a relish tray - olives, assorted pickled things, stuff like that??

**MamaTigs ** - cool OP - you’ve further convinced me that I need to visit the PNW before I die. Too bad my favorite dog sitter moved away… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I’m late posting today. Been very busy with laundry, making dinner, folding laundry, doing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, putting away laundry, talking to my firstborn, taking the doggies out to pee and poo - the usual. **FCD ** has found that Tramadol and tylenol seems to do the trick for him, so yay! He’s got an appointment to see the doc on Oct 30.

I had to reschedule my dentist appt because of jury duty, so I go on Thursday. woo and hoo. I’m thinking of taking Friday off so I can have a 4-day weekend, just because. We shall see.

{{{Jahdra}}} I hope the records help bring you some peace. Wars can really mess people up. Papa Tigs still has (fortunately very rare) occasional flashbacks from Vietnam, and he won’t talk about it, either.

Why am I sitting here nearly falling asleep over my computer? It’s not like I didn’t get enough sleep last night or I did anything today to tire me out.

Maggie Wonderbeagle died while I was at work today. Monday sucks. :frowning:

Oh, dogbutler, I’m so sorry. :: hugs ::

Uh, I don’t make it a habit to knock up teenagers… :dubious: :stuck_out_tongue:

Mini-me is a sophomore at Purdue, and older than the girl in question.

Holy shit, dogbutler. My deepest sympathy.

{{{Jah}}} There are plenty of sympathetic shoulders here for you if you need us.

{{{dogbutler}}} - Yeah, that’s a pretty sucky Monday.

Oh, DB, I am so terribly sorry. Hugs and purrs.

Sounds like there are lots of hugs needed today.

{{Jah}}

{{tarra}}

{{{dogbutler}}} I’m so sorry.

{{{dogbutler}}} I’m sorry.

doggio, I’m so sorry! Lots of hugs.

Hugs for tarra and Jahdra as well, of course.

Glad Dad is starting to move, mmmmmmmmms. As others have said: ice cream, chocolate, trashy novels, escape movies, vent at us. (That goes for doggio, tarra, and Jah too, now that I think of it.)

I’m tired and starting to put pictures in albums, finally. Took an hour+ nap, which actually seemed to help.

Back later…

GT

I am so sorry, dogbutler.

A sadder epilogue. A week or two ago, I had another 0330 call, for an appendectomy post-op that went septic (can’t remember if I mentioned it).

Anyway, he’s the uncle of the guy I rode with on the call. Three days after we took him in, he arrested in the ICU, and it was 5 minutes before they got a rhythm re-established. The family is now trying to decide if they pull his tubes and call it a life. :frowning:

I’m sorry BBBobbio.

{{{{Jahdra}}}}

Thanks for the well wishes, I only cried a little when I dropped her off at the vet.

I am so sorry dogbutler.

Hugs to tarra, **Jah,**and ems.

My Dad is a Vietnam vet too, and to this day, he won’t talk about it. He talked a little about it with my son for a school project, but it’s obvious that my Dad doesn’t even like to have it brought up.

That was a wonderful OP Mama Tigs. Those pictures brought back memories of my honeymoon, along with wonderful memories of the times I drove down to Florence with grandparents when I was just a little kid. I actually toured the cheese factory while on my honeymoon.

I can’t believe you didn’t partake of the the Tillamook Ice Cream! The marionberry pie ice cream is just fantastic.

The Oregon coast is beautiful. The best part is that cars are not allowed on the beaches there; or, at least they weren’t the last time I was there.

AHoosierMama, I spent most of my growing up years in Tacoma. In fact, I don’t live far from there now.

VBob, that is some sad news. I am glad however, that the teenage mama and baby are doing fine.

Hey y’all! Wow, I’m making it into the MMP at a fairly reasonable time this week!
MamaTigs, great OP, beautiful pictures! Glad you had a great time!
Dotty, good luck with the job!
Ems, try not to worry and make sure to take care of yourself. You are doing everything just right.
Jahdra, good thoughts to you on this anniversary. I hope you have peace.
Dogbutler, my sympathies to you.

This weekend was wonderfully lazy. Friday was the company picnic all afternoon, so I got some good food and some nice conversation and I got to get out of there around 2:30. I went to the mall and picked up part one of Flusband’s anniversary gift. Saturday I went out again and finished up his shopping. Saturday evening we went out for burgers for dinner and came back home to watch movies. Sunday I did some grocery shopping and cleaning, and the husband went to the mall, but he kinda wanted to go alone, you know, some alone time :smiley: So I guess we both are done anniversary shopping. I made spaghetti and meatballs last night for dinner with apple crisp for dessert, and put a meatloaf in the crockpot for today. With leftover apple crisp for dessert, later. Looking forward to it…today, work was very busy, very nice for a Monday.

Quick scan-through. Hugs to Jah and Dogbutler. Mr. Lissar needs the computer.
