She basically did. Ridiculous costuming.
Well, then they sewed her head on someone else’s topless body. Since she’s topless, with her head in frame.
Maybe it was Natalie Portman.
I think in the UK topless is ok if you’re over 16.
Thora Birch was 17 when she appeared topless in American Beauty. That movie isn’t considered child porn.
Breasts, in an ‘artistic’ context, would almost certainly not be judged as such.
Well, to me, I don’t really care much one way or another. Breasts are breasts. I think the MPAA looks at whether things are intended to be, for lack of a better word, tittilating. I’ve not seen either film, just looked it up from stuff said here.
So, what was the artistic context of the two mentioned nude scenes?
Well, the one I saw would hardly qualify as a “nude scene”. She flashed her breasts at a guy who had his back to her. The sort of thing that earns a movie the dreaded “brief nudity” warning on HBO. I can totally see why she could say that a new movie is her first “nude scene”, as in, the first time that she was naked (or topless) for a majority of a whole scene while being filmed.

I’ve seen neither of the scenes. But I very much doubt they’re simply a whole sequence of decontextualised Knightley bosom. If the partial nudity isn’t gratuitous or extraneous to the plot, and if the prime purpose isn’t titilation or eroticism, then it can be argued that it’s integral (and a film is considered to be artistic work, just as a photograph or a painting).
The issue isn’t whether Keira Knightley’s got nice boobs; she does. And the issue isn’t whether or not the context they were shown in was gratuitous or meaningful; I didn’t see either movie, although as far as I can tell The Hole, being a teen horror movie, was pretty much gratuitous in its entirety.
No, here’s the issue as I see it. Keira Knightley, a popular actress, is claiming she’s never done nude scenes when there is ample evidence that she has. And when celebrities go around staying foolish things in public, it is our duty as non-celebrities to make fun of them. Thus the cosmic balance is maintained.
They remade Dr. Zhivago? For the love all that is good and holy, why?
Wasn’t the remake of Dr Zhivago a made-for-TV? (that’s what the IMDb says) How nude was she in that?
If Google is my guide, not much. Keep in mind, she is a furriner, and they can show more skinthan we can without starting a national riot.
So technically, she;s shown the goods. I think she means this is the first time they’ve had significant airtime.
Well, the issue as I see it is that “Give it up, Keira, we’ve all seen your boobs” could feasibly be construed by Keira as a request to stop showing her boobs. Keira, if you’re reading this, I’d like to assure you that that is not what we want.
Little Nemo, please be more careful with your wording in the future. Breasts may be at stake.
:dubious:
Weren’t we all, really?
Hmmm, good point. If Keira Knightley is reading this thread, let me state that I intended the statement “Give it up, Keira, we’ve all seen your boobs” in the sense of “We’ve all seen your boobs, Keira, so in order to raise the nudity stakes, you need to give it up and take off the panties this time.”
You would think so, but in the US, parents are prosecuted for child porn when they take pictures of their kids in the bathtub.
Well then my parents are guilty of child pornography.
With or without bubbles?

It isn’t nice to tease people like that.
I’ve never seen Ms Knightly before today… but I’ve got to say I don’t know who thinks she’s got a nice figure, she reminds me of a 12 year old boy. Definitely not sexy.
