Give me 10 Wii games I should buy

We gotta Wii, and I want more games. We already have some party games - Boom Blox, the entire Rabbids series, and I downloaded World of Goo, all very good. Now I need more.

In terms of taste, please not I’m not a huge fan of shooters, but I’ll play one if it’s REALLY good.

Ten Wii games I must have… go! Feel free to suggest games that require specialty controllers.

In no real order…

Mega Man 9 (WiiWare download)

Mario Kart Wii

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Excite Truck

Super Mario Galaxy

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Guitar Hero: World Tour/Rock Band 2 (choose based on their tracklists)

Klonoa

Punch-Out!! (which is coming in the mail today!)

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (virtual console - SNES)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mario Party 8
Megaman 2 (VC - NES)
Megaman 3 (VC - NES)
Megaman 9
Metroid Prime 3
No More Heroes
Secret of Mana (VC - SNES)
Shining Force 2 (VC - Genesis)

I’d add Fire Emblem to the list if you enjoy the series or Tactical RPGs, more so if you can get the game for under 20 bucks as there’s not much content in it, but it’s still enjoyable.

Punch-Out!!
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
No More Heroes
MadWorld
Guitar Hero: World Tour
Mega Man 9 (Wii-ware)
House of the Dead: Overkill
Super Paper Mario
Sin & Punishment (VC)

The last one is technically an N64 here, but it’s incredible and wasn’t released in the States until the Wii. Of course, the Virtual Console is a treasure trove depending on which games you haven’t played yet.

Super Mario Galaxy is a good game. Do you have the most recent Raving Rabbids game? That was actually pretty fun as well.

Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Resident Evil 4
Punch-Out
Mario Kart Wii
ExciteBots (sequel to ExciteTrucks)
Boom Blox: Bash Party
Samba De Amigo
Super Mario Strikers Charged
Metroid Prime 3

A lot of recommendations for Punch-Out… has anyone actually played the game yet?

I’ll add Super Paper Mario. Its ‘different’ from the previous 2, but still really enjoyable. Also, Star Fox 64 is simply incredible, even nowadays.

If you do get Smash Bros., I’d suggest getting a Gamecube controller, especially if you’re used to Melee. The Wiimote control options suck, IMO.

I’ll toss in a recommendation for “Elebits.” After playing a handful of Wii games, it struck me as the first one that *got *how to use the wiimote. Part of the fun of the gameplay was how intuitive the interface was.

I beat it a couple of weeks ago. So yes. And it’s awesome.

Every review I’ve read says that if you even mildly enjoyed either of the previous Punch-Out!! games, you’ll love Punch-Out!! on the Wii.

And if the mailman would hurry his paunchy ass up, I could be playing it right now.

Me, too please. I have a Wii but I am really picky on games (for any of my systems).

What I have right now:

Raving Rabbids
Sports
Super Paper Mario

I have the old Mario Kart (Double Dash? - for the Gamecube) and everyone’s been telling me not to bother upgrading. Thoughts?

I have the old Smash Bros and really don’t like it except as a very silly game to play for a short period of time. When it comes to fighting games I prefer stuff like SoulCaliber or Dynasty Warrios.
I don’t like the Maio games (really any jumping platformers - YUCK), nor any party games (just me and my SO playing) or Zelda. Don’t like shooters. Nor any of the Guitar games.

I do love RPGs, and sports games (I would kill for a better bowling game) and puzzle type games like Rabbids. I plan to get House of the Dead (contrary to my shooting game thing, I have always loved HotD).

I am sorry I am so picky. If anyone can suggest any games in these narrow parameters I’d really really appreciate it.

Anyone telling you not to get Mario Kart Wii is crazy. The game is fantastic.

I thought that Double Dash was clearly the worst of the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart Wii has a lot of things going good for it and a few things that go horribly for it. I’d recommend it, especially if you liked Mario Kart 64.

Sorry, but Mario Kart: Super Circuit on the GBA is categorically the worst Mario Kart.

At any rate, Double Dash is my favorite, and is by far the deepest game in the series. The unique co-op mechanic adds a special something that I haven’t seen in any other racer.

As for Mario Kart Wii–I think it’s a really good game. Not quite as good as Double Dash, imo, but it’s really fun, the motion-controls work well, and has great local and online play.

You know? Justin, I’ve seen your posts plenty around the boards, and I realize I knd of trust you on the Wii. So I’ll buy the Mario Kart.

Thank you everyone else, also.

For the OP:

Okami.

Only one I’ve really played and liked. Well, that and the EverybodyVotes thing.

World of Goo: puzzle-esque physics-based. I’m about half-way through it.
Mmmaaaybe Okami. It’s Zelda-esque, thus my maybe. Meh, probably not.

There’s just not a lot out there, imo.

I own Okami on the PS2, and indeed, it was one one the awesomest games I ever played.

I’ve been thinking about World of Goo. I’ll read some reviews.
