My choice for Vol. 3 is:

  1. "Ride Captain Ride" Blues Image

“Dust in the Wind” - Kansas

Too soon?

“Low Rider” - WAR
“Saturday Night” - Bay City Rollers

Band of Gold -Freda Payne
My Boy Lollipop - Little Millie

“We’re an American Band” - Grand Funk Railroad.
“Run through the Jungle” - CCR

“What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted” - Jimmy Ruffin
“Everybody Plays the Fool” - The Main Ingredient
“Kiss and Say Goodbye” - The Manhattans
“She’s Gone” - Hall and Oates

All great songs, all would have available before Quill left Earth, and no repeated artists from previous soundtrack. Plus I think they work thematically with Quill and Gamora’s unspoken thing.

“Dust in the…” Dammit!

Since he got a Zune, he wouldn’t be limited to old songs anymore.

I’ll add “The Show Must Go On”

Not sure which version though. Leo Sayers is better, but Three Dog Night’s is a bit more rock and kinda fits the theme of previous soundtracks.

He now also has access to everything up to the modern day; presumably Tony Stark will hook him up with some Metallica and I’m sure he and Thor will enjoy jamming out to some Led Zeppelin once Quill gets over his insecurities. Hopefully Peter Parker updates some of his tastes, though I doubt he’s going to care for anything with too much Auto-Tune.

I have to wonder, though…what will he think about a Footloose remake?

Peter Quill: “You mean the evil minister dad guy is played by that guy from Innerspace? Hey, have they made any more Star Wars movies? Were they any good?”

Peter Parker: “Uh…Mr. Stark, what should I tell him?”

Tony Stark: “Mr. Lord, George Lucas vowed to never make another Star Wars film and sold the franchise to Disney, which produced the best sequels ever made.”

Quill: “Really? Is Han Solo still best anti-hero ever? It was so cool when he shot Greedo first.”

Parker: “Uh…”

Stark: “Enough pop culture! Let’s just focus on the matter at hand, okay? I have to get home by dinner so Pepper can nag at me for saving the galaxy.”

Stranger

Nice. I went with “Why Cant We Be Friends” though for the irony factor.I can totally see this playing while the Guardians carve a slow-motion swath through an army of mooks.

“The Weight” - The Band
“The Load Out/Stay” - Jackson Browne

“Tiger Feet” by Mud. And they have to do the “Don’t Spill Your Pint” dance.

“If I could turn back time” - Cher.

New Rose - The Damned

But, I’m sure you can… Good suggestion!

Given how Disney managed to simultenously piss off the entire cast of Guardians, I’d say that 4’33" is likely the most appropriate piece.

I was thinking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClJLrxGClxk That’s Bloodrock’s “D.O.A.”

Given that GotG vol.3 got put on hold.
Re: Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time”…yall know it was used in Deadpool 2, right?

yeah?

Pretty sure I would love to see them get “9 -> 5” in the GotG3 soundtrack too if they could - or maybe one of her other hits? Whorehouse maybe?

An outstanding 70s song that I always forget about (a friend of mine mentioned it tonight, in a completely different context):

Strawberry Letter #23 – Brothers Johnson
