GLEE 2.08 "Furt" (or, the Carol Burnett episode)

Did she sing in the Vogue video?

Yeah, I think she did.

I didn’t like Sue’s wedding, but I loved Burt and Carol’s.

In the unlikely event I ever get married I totally want to dance down the aisle (though it will require weeks of lessons and probably a government grant since I have all the natural rhythm of an oyster).

I also loved Burt and Carol’s wedding. I assume the entrance dance was inspired by this real-life wedding, but watching the youtube video again, it looks as if the bridesmaids’ dresses were also inspired by the IRL wedding!

Maybe her plastic surgeon didn’t tighten up one side as much as the other.

Agreed that it was well-deserved, but in real life Burt would be in deep trouble for doing that. Adults can’t hit kids, especially other people’s kids, without consequences. I’m surprised Krofsky’s parents didn’t sue him.

Heck, try planning a wedding in a week. disbelief has not just been suspended, it’s expelled.

Glad I’m not the only one. I think I’ve watched too much Whedon. I expect happiness to turn to tragedy at a moment’s notice. That’s not the Glee way, thankfully.
If you cut out the idiotic Sue’s self-wedding scenes and the two-joke Carol Burnett scenes (1- OK, we get it. she really was fighting Nazis, it wasn’t a lie. ha ha. 2-Sue is a bully because she was bullied by her mom. Nice parallel with Kurt’s bully. now move on.) this was an awesome episode. First time in a while that I’ve been moved to go to youtube and listen to the songs. (except for Ohio… that was painful enough the first time)

I had fond memories of enjoying the Carol Burnett show from growing up. I don’t remember why, just that I liked it. Her appearance here did nothing to remind me of why. bleh.

Karofsky appears in next week’s episode (Special Education) so apparently his plot’s not over.

So if Finn and Kurt = Furt (and Finn should be really thankful his mom didn’t marry Artie’s dad), and Finn and Rachel are Finchel, what will Kurt and Blaine be?

Blurt and Kaine seem the most logical choices I suppose.

Personally I would’ve though “Kinn” would’ve been more appropriate given that Finn & Kurt are now stepbrothers, not lovers.

I didn’t like the concept of Sue’s wedding but thought her dress was great.

Was that (the “wedding”) supposed to be some kind of reference to something, or did the writers come up with the whole bizarro concept themselves?

Remember this is Finn thinking this up. Of course he’s going to gravitate to the least graceful option.

I wonder how Finn, Artie, Sam, Mike, & Puck are going to treat him now. Bieste is going to have her hands full keeping order in that lockerroom.

True, but Sue’s also shoved plenty of students into lockers and gotten away with it.

I loved loved LOVED the Burt/Carol wedding. I thought throughout it “I can’t believe I almost quit Glee!

And then the rest of the show sucked ass.

Actually, I was flipping through the channels this week and saw this (I Me Wed) movie on Lifetime Movie Network. Even for my love of Dopers I couldn’t bring myself to watch it, but apparently the “marrying yourself” thing has been done in the movies, if not “based on actual events”.

I remembered another thing I liked from the episode - I liked the girls getting their guys to stand up for Kurt. I also liked Rachel telling Finn she has never been so disappointed in him.

Overall, I really liked this episode. With Glee I’ve gotten into the habit of just totally tuning out those parts that are just out there, and enjoying the really good part. Burt/Carol wedding was great. Truly a very well done scene, as was the reception. I especially liked the expression on Shue’s face while the kids were singing to Kurt. That he was proud of the part he played in getting these kids to accept Kurt that way.

My take on Sue is that she has little sympathy with someone whinning on just being called names, or made fun of. Her viewpoint is that type of thing is just par for the course in life, and the kids need to get over it, and get a thicker skin. However when it comes to physical bullying, she takes it much more seriously. Especially when something like death threats are involved. Which makes sense in the whole “Sticks and stones may break by bones, but words can never hurt me” type of world she lives in. She basically says to suck it up if someone calls you a bad name, but if someone threatens physically, that’s much different.

I also like the girls telling the glee guys to step up and do something to help Kurt. I also liked how Artie and the other guy getting into the bully’s face in the locker room ended up with them getting their ass kicked…which is what really would have happened in real life.

I’m pretty sure it was Tickle Me Doe Face, not dough face. Because he does sort of have a doe face, but I’m not even sure what doughface would mean. A puffy face? Doesn’t make sense.

White. Pasty. Dough-face.
