Glee's roleplaying game companion thread

Yes you’re starting on opposite sides of the Arena (like last time.)
It takes up a round every time you Display Weapon Prowess (though you could move into position as well), which if successful will:

  • increase the crowd donations at the end
  • impress all opponents who can see you (as mentioned previously, using a Two-handed Sword in combat also impresses opponents because of the damage…)

Note that the opponents can’t see you at the start because of the building.
(Last time the Empire patrol followed their Decanus briskly along the path and first saw you on the second round of combat.)

Any spell takes a round to cast, meaning you can’t fight that round (and are easier to hit.)
Since your only Spirit Hammer scroll will last for one combat, you may like to reconsider…

Quentin will move to take his position on the other side of Johannes from Dale, in that case.

Ok, my final suggestion then is for Quentin, Johannes and dale to form up as a semicircle with one wall of the building at our backs, allowing enough space within the semicircle to shelter John and Plixican behind us so that they have their backs to the building wall as well. Hope that’s clear.

Dorric could get up to the roof asap and be ready to fire down on the enemies as soon as they engage. he won’t need the invisibility potion at first, so best keep it handy in case things get screwy and he needs to relocate.

Plixican can stand ready to cast Summon Monsters and Mage Armour as soon as he likes, although i still reckon it’s a good idea to do so after the enemies are engaged with our three fighters. They’ll be cocky due to their numbers, so best cast it behind them as a nasty surprise…

John Smith has got Acid Arrow which he can cast whenever he likes, but best to wait till the enemy are close to reduce the chance of a miss and wasting the spell.

I think that’s it! What do you think guys?

Let the Empire bring it on! We’ll *murdalise *'em!

That’s perfectly clear.
(It’ll be a tight squeeze to give the two Casters full cover behind a front line of just three - but a) the opposition don’t have missile weapons nor polearms and b) they’re highly likely to focus on Johannes the ‘deserter’)

I know there’s a lot to keep track of, but I did mention that Summoned Monsters appear next to the Caster.

How many monsters would Plixican summon with the spell?

1-4.

In that case, Plixican, I think your idea is best - cast it at the beginning of combat, then you can drop behind the line of fighters for protection while you direct the monsters in their mischeif-making?

OK, this is what I assume.

In the 2 rounds before combat starts, Plixican casts first Monster Summoning, then Mage Armour on one of the Monsters.

When the combat begins:

  • Dorric runs to the abandoned building, Climbs the Wall and prepares to use his sling
  • Johannes, Quentin, Dale and the Summoned Monster(s) form a front line (using the walls as flanking cover)
  • Plixican and John Smith are covered behind the front line (and can cast / use First Aid from there.)

The Spirit Hammer lasts for a whole combat? Oh, I misread the PH. No, Dale won’t use it at all. That’s good enough to hang on to.

I’m trying to keep it simple, since players may not have the 1979 Edition of the Player’s handbook!

Since the last combat lasted about 3 rounds, it wasn’t much of a stretch to say ‘the combat’ instead.

I’m happy to go with this provided the rest of the team agree.

Yup, I’ll cast my spells before the combat. Glee, you say that summoned monsters are under my control, does this require any mental effort on my part?

No, it’s easy and so you can do anything else you like as well (cast spells, fight, move.)

It’s the same thing as with your Familiar - the Monsters simply await your orders.

Sounds good to me too.

Yup, good to go.

I’ve started the combat in the Game Thread, but ran out of time.
More tomorrow morning (remember I’m on GMT.)

Can I… ride that pony?

If I haven’t made it clear, John will remain clear of the close battle and aim Magic Missile at the closest enemy he sees.

Um…ponies?

Are these vicious, carnivorous, venomous ponies with fangs and firebreath, or, y’know…the other kind?

Ponies are very big on the Internet right now, I hear. I shall name one Applejack.

More seriously, we now have enough troops to do more fancy flanking maneuvers with. Or should I rush our new cannon fodder forward to get the first blows in?
