I shall be waiting by the free hospitality, waiting for the return of the hobbit and pondering asking the mage (who has gone off with the hobbit, of course - we’ve split the party already? ) whether it might be a good idea to collaborate on some kind of act with our familiars.
Note that my character is assuming that Sneakerpuss is a familiar.
Even more amusing, that wasn’t the way it originally was supposed to go down. There was supposed to be a choreographed fight, but Harrison Ford had a really bad case of food poisoning and was in no mood to follow through with a physically taxing scene. So he improvised, much to the disappointment of the stuntman with the sword who had trained a long time for that combat.
I am a bit puzzled myself.
I thought I’d posted in the Game thread that Crumlin had ushered the remaining adventurers out of the tent to look for Sir Cuthbert (the Circus hobbit.)
But I can’t see that post now.
So please assume that all 6 characters are talking to Sir Cuthbert and offering their services; either as performers or doing maintenance around the Arena.
I’ve asked the Mods if they could insert a sentence explaining about Mayor Crumlin bringing the rest of the party to the ringmaster-hobbit (Sir Cuthbert.)
Hopefully that’s possible!
Meanwhile I thought I’d explain a bit more for our newbies about how the actual roleplaying usually works.
Once the DM has designed the campaign and storyline and sorted out the characters, the first thing is to get the party together.
This could involve them being members of the same Guild (or a secret Society.)
They could all be recently-qualified (like in our Game.)
Maybe they are simply in the same Inn when something dramatic happens…
Next comes involving the party in a quest.
The characters could be hired to solve a crime, patrol a building or bodyguard someone.
They could have a Patron (like Mayor Crumlin), or be falsely accused of a crime.
As the story starts, it’s useful to give the party a chance to use their Skills.
(That’s happening now with the Circus wanting performers and maintenance chaps…)
Once the players are familiar with their characters e.g. with their familiars :), the action begins.
Travel, combat, gathering information and items, facing dilemmas - any or all can happen.
Familiars are normal animals with just the added power of telepathic contact with their Master.
They are loyal, but don’t fight.
They can only do things normal animals can do…
You’re not butting in (this is the thread for comments) and I’m glad you like the game!
Sadly there is a long waiting list, so I can’t offer you anything.
But watch this space - maybe I’ll run another game sometime…
So has everyone got something to do? I still think that some sort of show involving the familiars is the best way to go for us MUs (although how exciting a routine worked out by two introverts using Cha as a dump stat will remains to be seen.).
I’m not sure I follow either. Are we all fighting in the arena or putting on a show? I can do either, though a level one mage is not much of a fighter. Heck, he’s not much of a mage at that point.
