Gmail down?

Strange, since I’m getting:

Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at www.google.com.

      connection.

*   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
      that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

And I really need to get in!

Recently, there was a time when I got a No-Can-Deliver message from Google involving 4 of my emails. They did deliver, finally.

No problems on 2/3 computers I used today. One couldn’t get on Gmail through Firefox for some reason; IE worked fine. The page would constantly reload and cycle through. I immediately jumped on another computer and it worked fine, so it was something to do with the specific computer, I don’t know why.

And yet I still cannot connect! Every other freakin’ site is fine. Huh?

These threads invariably lead to my posting, “Naah, all is fine here”.

It’s weird. I’ve had too many people report Gmail problems to disregard them, but I’ve almost never had a problem myself (apart from the very rare timeout for a minute or two). It’s one of the most stable sites I visit.

This makes me think it must be a problem at the user end. Maybe Gmail requires something fussy which I’ve just happened to have gotten lucky with - some weird setting or something which I’ve happened to have already had in place more through good luck than good management.
