Gmail unstable?

I’d like to know if others has had the same problems as me with Gmail in last couple of weeks. It has been especially bad since last Friday.

Basically it is connection problems, and I get messages such as (paraphrased): ’ Gmail are experiencing server problems right now - try again i few minutes’ and ‘Oups - Gmail are unable to process your request, try again later’. As it appears it doesn’t seem to be a problem with my computer (FWIW I use Firefox 1.5), but then I cannot find any announcements from Google either, and if I’m the only one it happens to it must be me. I regularly log on to two different networks (university and home) from the same laptop and I haven’t noticed any difference. Neither any difference between my two gmail accounts, both of which I access several times a day.

So, does anyone know anything about this?

That happens to me every once in a while. If the error messages are correct, then they’re really just experiencing server issues and there’s nothing you can do but wait. They usually go away if I browse some other sites, wait a few minutes/hours, and then go back.

Exactly. It’s just that it happens very, very often lately - e.g. today I’ve had four error messages so far and it’s only 2 pm, and I haven’t even used gmail constantly this morning. I just wanted to know if other gmail users had noticed an increased frequency of server error messages lately.

not your question, but there are still issues with gmail-Opera compatibility. I use Opera pretty much for everything else, but IE for gmail.

There’s some kind of widespread internet problem today. Something with DNS and Network Solutions.pign

Gmail is beta software (i.e., undergoing a limited public testing phase), and therefore by definition unstable. The interface and features could change at any time, and availability of services cannot be guaranteed.
