Go-Go Vacation! - A MMP

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently a blessedly comfortable 61 degrees, but the expected high is 96, which means it’ll probably be around 98 here since I’m not near any big body of water to help cool things.

As expected, work was pretty much a slamfest. Debating whether I want to overnight in Wenatchee to avoid the horrendous traffic I will face if I try to go there and back the same day. It wouldn’t be a problem if the office inspection appointment was earlier in the morning, but it’s scheduled for noon; so based on that, it would mean that I wouldn’t get to leave Wenatchee until 2:30 at the earliest meaning I would hit the rush hour on the west side of the Pass and an hour-long back-up just to get on Hwy 18, never mind the back up on Hwy167. Not sure I want to face that. I might just get a room at my favorite hotel there, eat the cost over and above the gov official business rate, and take off early in the morning on Thursday to return home.

Getting off Interstate 90 and onto Hwy 18 is just a complete nightmare. The whole interchange is just not designed for today’s traffic. The only option is to go all the way around, which would mean taking 90 to 405 and then to 167, which adds many miles to the trip and is also just as backed up during rush hour. Traffic around here is no joke.

Anyway…

Nellie, I sure hope don’t have the plague. Fingers crossed.

I suppose I should finish the last of my coffee. Have a great day everyone!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Tire day for Carmen. There may be storms tonight.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 16c/60f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and mostly cloudy which is much more like the summer I was expecting here. Weather app says “The clouds are all nuts to fucking butts up in the sky”. It also tells me there is 0% chance of precipitation although it was definitely precipitating when I left home this morning.

nellie fingers crossed that you don’t get the plague! One of my minions has been on holiday in Spain for two weeks, came back on Saturday and tested positive so she’s now off sick for a few days until she gets over it.

Taters that sounds like a nightmare journey if you’re late leaving. I’d go for the nice hotel and travel back when the traffic’s more sensible.

Moooom my mum had her affairs pretty much in order before she passed away, she’d made a will and I had all the details of her solicitor and stuff like that. Her flat was rented so I only had to give notice to the council, and then continue paying the rent for as long as it took to clear the place out. My checklist covered cancelling utilities, closing her bank account, notifying all her insurance providers, notifying all her investment providers (the solicitor did most of that though), cancelling subscriptions, paying her bill at the newsagent for her daily newspapers, and retuning the rental tv/dvd combo. Other things were retuning equipment she’d had from various places - she had a shower seat, hospital-style table, kitchen seat, grabbers, step-stool etc from the Red Cross, she had a couple of different styles of walkers that needed a new home as well.

We haven’t had any rain really to speak of, it was grey and drizzly this morning, now it’s cleared up but it’s still grey and cloudy. Grocery shopping tonight, that’s something else to look forward to!

Well, he’s getting free camp wood. Now if he spontaneously moved the wood I was able to cut before my momentary lapse of attention, into the back yard…

Happy Tuesday!

It was a cool and cloudy 72 degrees at the park this morning. It was a bit of a rowdy group, I had to keep an eye on Echo. Three new dogs came in and she got that look in her eye when they came up to me for pets. Lily pulled a big Lily again today. She did not want to leave the park.

The dogs went after a tree rat in the yard yesterday and the damn thing almost ran across my feet running away from them.

I need to order some groceries this morning, and pick them up later.
The truck needs washing, it is filthy on the inside. It’s supposed to rain again today.
I may take it to the detail place and let somebody else deal with the mess.

I think I may skip the limo on Thursday and drive myself. I don’t know if anybody will be riding with me in the truck if I decide to drive.
I have a problem with riding in the back seat, especially if I am in the middle.
Once when I was riding in the middle of the back seat, the car I was in caught on fire. It was a two-door car, so we had to wait for the people up front to get, then i had to wait for the others in the back to get out. I’m not good with riding in the back seat since then.

My son has to try on his pants with his dress shoes as I may have to hem them.
Lots of little things I need to do, I still haven’t decided if I am spending the night there or driving back home. I don’t have a key to the house anymore, it’s keyless entry now and I never got a code.
It’s so weird to think that it’s not my mother’s house anymore.
Maybe I’m not welcome to spend the night. I probably am, Niece2 is pretty laid back about stuff like that.

I hope you don’t have covid Nellie.

I uncovered the wounds on my middle finger this morning. I’d covered them yesterday because my knuckle was ‘weeping’ a blood-tinged, watery liquid. It seems to have stopped for now. Wifey, RN said my fingers look good. She said she could tell the swelling’s gone down, and then she said the word ‘edema’ and the penny dropped. That what that watery discharge was!

Not much going on in no. Illinois. The weather is decent, high 70s/low 80s with o.k. humidity. Just a nice summer day. Our driveways are being seal coated so I had to park on the street overnight. Got an email from ComEd that there will be planned power outage on August 1. Oh joy. What am I supposed to do for the 4 hours without ekeltricity?

In an effort to be a good new resident of Minnesohhta, we got our state license plates a few weeks ago. Checking online, we’re supposed to get a MN driver’s license within two months of arrival, so went online to see the requirements. We have to take a written test (haven’t had to do that since the 1960s), and noted that one must make an appointment to do so (because Covid). So we dutifully filled out the online paperwork and went to schedule the test, only to find out the earliest date is next January! So I guess we’ll be part of the criminal element for six months.

Three out of four loads of laundry done and I’ll be starting the fourth once this message is done. Drying is taking a little longer, second load is drying now so the rest will have to wait their turn. At least I’ll have underwear and shirts all done.

Cookie, odd that someone with a valid license from elsewhere needs to take a test; I’d double-check that if I were you (likely you already have).

flyboy, glad to hear you’re healing up nicely.

Taters, like boo fae, I’d recommend staying overnight if it’s feasible, no reason to drive yourself crazy…

Oh, and boo fae, thanks for the explanation, I presume the Russians sending their students abroad are located in the UK.

OK, need to do the changing of the guard for the washer. Clean Blue Jeans are on the way!
Take care all.

Little poop machine barely napped an hour. I did manage to get the 'nanner bread in the oven but that was all. I’ll try for another nap around 1.

Animal Control picked up the trap. I washed a load of sheets while we were in the basement. Guess I’ll need to feed the kid soon. Always something…

The cats do seem to pick up quirks from each other. Buddy was in my lap when the Walmart delivery driver knocked on the door. He ran to hide, which is how Allie reacts to a stranger at the door.

Once he was sure the stranger was gone and I was sitting again, he resumed his role as lap velcro.

Currently awaiting word from the dealership that my car is ready to be ransomed.

Yeah, I’ve checked. It’s just a money grab, I’m sure. Written test plus a peripheral vision check. No idea how long the DL is good for, but I’ve been told that it depends on your age. In Oregon they are good for five years. Also, their plates are only good for a year, but at least there are no emission checks here. They’re a bit behind the curve on keeping things green, which seems odd. For instance, they’re still using styrofoam containers for takeout and at water coolers.

Without going into details, other than to say it’s not life or death, I could use some atta girls/positive energy today. Please and thank you.

Sending all good vibes your way, Sunny.

You are a good person who does good things and we all love you!

Morning, all. Can you people keep it down? Evil companions did ply me with spirituous liquors last night in an effort to lead me down the Path of Wickedness.

Vegas, baby! Grappa will do it to you every time.

You da woman, Sunny!!!

It’s 95f here at noon, heading for 105 about 4pm. Wifey has a doctors appointment in The Dalles in a couple of hours and we’re also gonna get some groceries and pick up my prescriptions. Also we need to go to Home Depot and get a new storm door for the front door. The hinges on the old one wore plum out. You’d think I could just replace the hinges wouldn’t ya? Nope. They are literally part of the frame. I have a big list of other things I need from there too, so an expensive trip.

Alla y’all take care.

Ye gods, it’s “fly season” in the Mitten State (you can guess the details) plus Monkey won’t SHUT THE HELL UP about going outside, so, he’s got his collar on, door’s open, letting in even more of the damn sky raisins (b.c he shredded my screen). Which he spends all night hunting (and chewing - EWWW).

Please tell me winter comes back soon?

So could I. That being said, one good deed is worth another. And you deserve everything this imaginary friend on your phone/computer can do for you.

Also, you’re an amazing person.
