Go-Go Vacation! - A MMP

Trying not to be totally obnoxious by calling the dealership to see if the car’s on track to be reclaimed today.

I tested this morning, even though it’s probably too soon. I figure a negative result means nothing, but a positive result would mean no traveling tomorrow. Tomorrow will be 5 days since the first day I was with Curly Top, and since I’m traveling, it still makes sense to test. I’ll wear a mask, of course. I had SO much contact with her–She was basically glued to me for hours every day–that I can’t see how I could’ve dodged contagion, but I’m hoping for a miracle.

I’m a little frustrated with Curly Top’s family. When her papa came over on Friday, he said his wife had COVID but assured us the kids tested negative and were kept away from mama. We assumed the girls were tested daily, but they had not. I tried to find out from the papa’s mama if the papa has tested positive, but I’m not getting a straight answer, just “He has more energy today.”

I walked 4 miles today, not nearly as many as I’m used to, but as much as I can do here. Meanwhile, back in western Washington, the temps are in the upper 90s and will remain so through Friday. I’m SO glad I decided to pop for a portable AC.

sunny, good thoughts, crossed fingers, and a virtual, “G-O-O-O-O-O, sunny!”

MetalMouse, I had to take a written test when I moved from MT to WY and from WY to WA, as well as an eye test.

Walked 2 ⅔ miles for lunch. SWMBO says, ‘No cooking after 12:00,’ because it heats up the house too much. We’re out of bread and other things, so no sandwich. I nuked some chicken broth, beat an egg and mixed it in, nuked it some more, and put some Sriracha in. I haven’t eaten today. Is this breakfast, or lunch?

EDIT: Actually, I think there’s a tank of propane in the barbie; and the barbie has a side burner. I could cook outside. Only… handling food and washing my hands are problematic with my wounds. :frowning:

Gooo sunny and shoe You are both great peoples.

My instructions say:

  • Keep the cut dry for the first 24 to 48 hours. After this, you can shower if your doctor okays it. Pat the cut dry.
  • Don’t soak the cut, such as in a bathtub. Your doctor will tell you when it’s safe to get the cut wet.
  • If your doctor told you how to care for your cut, follow your doctor’s instructions. If you did not get instructions, follow this general advice:After the first 24 to 48 hours, wash around the cut with clean water 2 times a day.
    • Don’t use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol, which can slow healing.
    • You may cover the cut with a thin layer of petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, and a nonstick bandage.
    • Apply more petroleum jelly and replace bandage as needed.

The instructions from the hospital say ‘Do not submerge wound under water. Please wash it with warm soapy water using a washcloth. Keep wound uncovered unless it can get dirty.’

Since I was leaking, the wounds have only been completely uncovered as of this morning. (The index finger, since yesterday.) I did wash with soapy water Sunday. Since I’ve been out walking, I need a shower. I guess I’ll use a washcloth and antibacterial soap (which I’m generally against, but now there’s a reason to use it) to gently dab/stroke/whatever around the wound. I’m planning to still put a plastic bag over my hand for the shower and shave.

Wish me luck.

sunny and shoe, nothing but positive thoughts to two very fine people I have the pleasure of knowing (electronically at least). Take care.

flyboy, sounds like a brunch to me…

nellie, hope you’re fine (COVID-wise; know you’re fine every other way). And interesting about the written tests; didn’t have to do anything except show residence to get a license in Ali-bama.

quietly, some soothing music for you…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BavRrRNvz8g

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered, we had quality cee-mint pond time and accomplished nappage. Sup got cooked and et and the kitchen is all cleanded up. Thus has been the day in swampland.

Positive vibes and so forth for sunny and shoe.

Quietly has a hangover so NO YELLING!!!

Sunny and shoe:

I swear, I’m not going to survive Tobias as a toddler. He’s just crawling and starting to pull himself up and he’s wearing me out!!! Then he went and fell asleep on my lap, looking all adorable and stuff. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

FCD got us 10 tickets for the MegaMillions. I only wanted 5, but what’cha gonna do? If we win, there will be one bodacious MumpFest!!

For now, the house is quiet, the dishes are done, and I’m about to assume the chillage position. It’s been a long day!

metal mouse, perhaps your brother inadvertently turned off the ringer to his phone. My dad did that once and after a few calls amongst us kids, we had local law enforcement do a welfare check.

I hope that you remain plague free nellie.

It sounds like a nice looking suit sari.

Did you ever picture your retirement dealing with strollers and baby seats Moooooom?

Too bad I don’t live closer butters. I’d bring a loaf of bread, some buttercrunch lettuce and a pound of bacon to your house.

I walked Nelson before the clouds opened up. Now, I need to do KP. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Remember those gruesome pics of my hand while I was waiting in the ER, that I posted Sunday? WARNING: Blood and manglage.

Here are some less-gruesome pics from a few minutes ago, after I washed the wounds. WARNING: Still may be disturbing.

The back of my hand is still swollen, and the bruises are still there; but I think they look better today.

Bonus pic: Goo reclining in the catio.

Sunny and Shoe, you are both awesome and you got this!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Never crossed my mind. Honestly, when FCD and I first discussed our retirement years, the plans involved a sailboat and lots of cruising. Of course, that was before the 10 spinal surgeries and 2 knee replacements.

I am officially re-tired. But I got to get the rear shocks replaced on Thursday(She is 8 years old, so things are gonna wear out eventually). I went to the Likker Sto. The built a new, shiny bigger one across the street from the old location. Right next to the pr0n shop. Which gives plausible deniability to the Southern Baptists:
"Joseph, are you buying intoxicating spirits?
“No, Martin, I am merely buying harmless goat orgy pornography!”

Guard Cat protects from The Invisible Mole People, but not Wally World deliverymen.

[Oddball]Sending positive waves[/Oddball]

Follow me, I know a shortcut.

Fingers look better, Flyboy. And Goo is a good kitty.

You go, girl! You’ve got this!

(Plus I have surplus kitties if you need some underfoot. That seems to be all they are good for today)

The skies have opened again. Glad we don’t have to go anywhere.

Sending atta girls and positivity to shoe and sunny

Thank you everyone! The scary/stressful thing was accomplished.

I hope you dodge the plague Nellie.

Hugs to you \color{purple}\mathbf{\text {shoe!}}

All y’all are awesome.

I just got off the phone with a dear friend who LEGIT covers White House she’s amazing and has slept in war zones… anyway apparently the Orange One and his people said things today that left her - and, again, she’s lived through :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: - absolutely beside herself.

All we could do was bitter-laugh at … well … stuff.

Go, yay, imma snuggle kitty hugs.

Don’t know, red, but he did call back today and we had a good talk. He had a mild stroke a couple years ago and his speech is not what it used to be, but still understandable. Apparently my eldest nephew’s house got flooded some as St. Louis got around 7" of rain in one day this week.

Flyboy, always hated when the wounds turned that awful shade of black-purple, but glad you are healing.

Did the pedaling at the gym in 2 sessions, total 900+ calories burned, most of which were put right back on me with the usual 2sday Mac-n-Cheese dinner. Still, 4 loads of laundry (and about 80 gallons of water) are done and life is good.

Catch everyone on Hump Day!

Yay!!!
