"Go to first new post" button does what, exactly?

When I click on the “Go to first new post*” *button at the beginning of a thread title, it almost never takes me to the first new post. What does that mean? The first new post since I last visited the thread, the board page, or what? It should probably be called the “Go to random post in middle of thread” button instead, as far as I can ascertain.

Ut tends to take me to the first post submitted after the last time I opened the thread.

It has its glitches, opening at the top of a new page well down the thread if a couple of days have elapsed, for example. However, it seems to work for me most of the time.

Actually it used to function correctly, but hasn’t now, in a very long time.

It used to know what you had read, and what you hadn’t, taking you to wherever you left off, no matter how many days had passed or times you accessed the board, (but not that thread). It was tres awesome in that regard.

Now it’s total suckage. It takes you to new posts since you were last on the board, ignoring which threads you read or not, entirely.

Huge downgrade in my opinion.

But, y’know, what’s the point it complaining? It’s not like they are willing to fix it. It was probably a fluke when it was functioning correctly.

Thanks for responding.
