Thank you sincerely, Cat Glove and others. I sent her a message around 9 a.m. and got a
response.
It’s difficult; in my mind, she’s the callous, hypocritical bitch from my youth. But in reality now, she’s a scared old woman.

My part of the heaving was fairly smooth(apart from having go dodge tires and leakers to tape up 4 exploded boxes on Door 5). Things went FUBAR everywhere else, and there was a lot of stuff left behind when the drivers left, even though they left late. But I’m just a monkey, I’m not in charge of the circus.
Was his last name Greystoke, perchance?
read that as student queens. Some of them do seem to act like spoiled royalty. Although some of them may actually be spoiled royalty.
As did I.

Well, dishes are done and put away to be dirtied again. Just wondering, does anyone else ‘reshuffle’ their glasses/dishes so the most recently washed are at the bottom and the ones still unused are at the top? Kinda like rotating food, but with tableware… Have mopped and cleaned the bathrooms a bit and will shortly do the packing for the gym and carry along my soccer stuff for the 5:30pm practice. Will try to remember everything, which can be a chore at times (yesterday I had to have my usual outside clothes, my exercise stuff, and my soccer referee stuff all in the car and bagged so I could put it in the dressing room locker…did pretty well, only forgot one minor thing). That should take care of the middle of the day and we’ll see what the evening will bring.
And doing the Noon catch-up…
Taters, I pretty much use my phone for pictures now, easier to handle and it takes just as good a shot as most digitals I’ve used.
FCM, no worries on yogurt on Corn Flakes, I don’t care for yogurt on anything. Just cereal and milk for this old body. Hope lunch is progressing well and you’ll be safe heading home.
J-Bats, cute story, I (and I expect every Mumper) has met the ‘finish your sentences for you’ person somewhere on the road. At least you took it with good humor.
Wet one, 88F here in N. Ali-bama, but that is not uncommon; 88F in N. Illinois in Mid-October…that is uncommon. Stay cool. Best wishes to BIL and Sister.
Bright Tree, hope Ollie doesn’t have PTSD on the trip for the nail clippings… And hope the guitar is in wonderful shape. And I have also done the ‘leave freezer door ajar, frozen stuff softens’ lesson once or twice.
Happy Doc day, red.
Cat Glove, yeah, I’ve had that happen too (do it on-line and then have to do it again on paper). After that I’m impressed your BP was normal.

doggio, I think most circuses I’ve seen run more efficiently than that place…
And caught up for the moment. Back this evening if I can survive both exercise and a group of 9 year olds…
Well, yes; I want to be fair, I wouldn’t want any plates to feel left out and useless.
The handrail is currently cut to size and sitting right in the middle of the corridor while the varnish dries. It’s really quite thoroughly in the way. I can’t even open the fridge properly.
Home after a nice lunch. Mom had fish and chips, which was the special of the day. I had shepherd’s pie (mine is better) and my sister had and Irish Dip (like French dip, but the dipping broth had Guinness in it.) I have a box and 2 buckets of iris, plus some stuff for the grands. Driving there wasn’t bad, but the trip home was traffic-full.
I won’t have a real supper as I’m still stuffded. The rest of the night is for chillage.
Okay. That’s a new one.
Called my I.P. to pay the bill, got a new auto-mssg. that they use AI to process payments.
Cool, no problem. My stuff is in their system.
We get through it without issue, and at the end, the sweet AI voice says that to authorize the payment, please say my name after the tone - which is their standard process. Again, no problem …
Then the SAME SWEET A.I. says, very sweetly, the word “Tone.”
… you … you couldn’t play a chime note or something?
I hope that your mom’s surgery went well.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered (did I mention that this mornin’?) and put where it stays until dirty again. RDOS slot then commenced. We quaffed the last of the champagne for today’s day drinkin’. Also sup got nuked and et. Thus is the news from swampland.
Knotty glad you weren’t hurt and are not all, well, knotty today.
nuts that sucks about the heat pump guy! Hopefully he will show up on time (kinda) next week.
MOOOOOOM low 80s is Fall weather in my part of the world. We will, however, hit low to mid 70s this weekend. Or not. Who knows! I need to do mowage at some point this week. Unfortunately it will not be the last time either. Glad the lunch went well. I do love a good shepard’s pie.
Mollie good thing Squeaky has an Eyetalian mom to help him keep his eye on the prize. How cool your granddad was a major league baseball player!
MetalMouse I, too, get knocked out in no time. I wake up and say stuff like, “are we done yet?”
MetalMouse and Spoons my only dealin’ with track bettin’ was at a greyhound track in Shorter, Alabammy, which is about an hour and a half south of Ye Olde Home Towne via interstate. I never won anything, but the beer was cheap. This was durin’ my mispent youth.
Taters coffee and trash teevee sounds like a fine RDOS past time.
JBats we must all amuse ourselves from time to time. FWIW I think it’s funny.
WetOne that’s tough about your BIL. Glad sis has some support this week. I take it they fared ok with Isaias.
BrightTree hope Ollie is not too traumatized today, poor feller. The best teevee is low class IMO. Then again, I am pretty much on the low end of class. I make do with bein’ couth and suave.
Cat_Glove it irks me when I dutifully do stuff in advance and then find out I have to do it again at the appointed time. I recommend take it easy after gettin’ stabbed.
shoe I’d be careful. A.I. might sneak into your digs while you are at irk and eat your fancy soup and jam.
Up from naptime, watching hockey and having a Manhattan. Dinner tonight is Southwest style chicken and rice bowl.
Some people don’t? ![]()
I love the literalness, though.
Yes, I rotate dishware. Right now there are autumn and Halloween themed dishware.
Originally, I had taken today off for readcation. The author’s book release has been put back a month. So I reckoned on keeping the day off for errands and things like that.
Got a key made, got breakfast. That had quite the excitement. There was a bloodcurdling scream as I was finishing. I still don’t know the full story, I asked vague questions at the security desk. Just asking if the situation was controlled and if they were okay. There were emts and police. I might get more info tomorrow.
Then I went to the pharmacy got lager and my prescriptions. Then it was take it there now time. Hardware to maintenance, big items to the trash rooms, cardboard and recycling to the bins, dry cleaning to the cleaners, and dropped off a bag full of rubber stamps to an art class place.
Back at the flat some cleaning and reorganizing furniture.
Back to the office tomorrow.
I hope you’re mother is doing well, Purplehorseshoe.
Hectic morning, but I got all my adulting done!
Mine makes 4 small, long loaves. I cut them in thirds and freeze them to use for toast or sammiches. Ciabatta is the best bread for big, Dagwood-like sammiches, IME, because the gluten is so well developed it holds together!
red, good luck at the doc’s today! And I’ve been meaning to say, your cards are so awesome! Anyone would be lucky to receive one. Thanks for posting pics of your work.
Well done to you, Cat Glove, for getting those vaxes done. I was so happy to have mine done before I left for Arizona. Despite mingling with crowds, no illness here.
Oh, there are two freezers out there. I suspect you’d quickly suss out the good freezer from the bad one.
(Hint: The good one is filled with all sorts of temptations. I like to be ready for company snooping for midnight snax.) Oh, and I keep meaning to mention: There’s a UPS ad running lately that shows these sparkling, well-organized UPS distribution centers, well cared-for packages gently moving with all possible love through the process to the final, cherished recipient from caring drivers. I want you to know I laugh and laugh every time I see it! ![]()
So help me, I do, too. Gotta keep the wear 'n tear evenly distributed! Hope the 9-year-old rodeo went well! The guitar is indeed in wonderful shape, and I even took the opportunity to slip around the corner to our elections office to snag a copy of our voter’s pamphlet – since I never received my copy in the mail. Ollie did suffer a bit of trauma over his nails as a quick got snipped, but he’s fine now. His nails are so wonky…
Yay for getting control of that handrail, Nut! May the varnish dry quickly!
Glad you enjoyed the lunch, FCM! And nice score on the iris.
shoe, you realize your new safe word is now, “TONE”, right?
I’m with you on low class tee vee. I am only sorry it took me so long to realize its charms! And you are always very couth and suave. ![]()
The guitar is home and sounds amazing. Or it would, if it had a player who was practiced and accomplished. I’ve forgotten so much, and my fingers are sore after only 15 minutes of playing. But I am resolved to be consistent and dedicated in my practice. We’ll see how it goes.
I did something Not Good to my right inner thigh. There’s a muscle there, or a ligament or something that you use to lift your leg every time you march or step up, or even to lift your foot into a shoe. Mine screams at me whenever I make this motion – which is often. It’s so painful, I borrowed one of Ollie’s leashes so I could lift that right leg up onto the sofa. I have a routine doc’s visit scheduled in a couple of weeks. If it’s not better, I will definitely be asking her about how to fix this! At least it only hurts when I move…
On to an evening of bludging with Ollie, who has a new charming habit of rubbing his face all over mine and trying to climb under my hair. It’s funny and makes me laugh – which is probably why he does it. Little idiot. ![]()
Hope everyone has a delightful evening!
I rotate dishes and drinking cups/glasses, but not flatware, because we generally use most of it between loads. I also rotate towels t-shirts, jeans, and unders and socks. I sorta rotate sheets, too, but it’s seasonal - as in no flannels in summer, no light cotton in winter.
I’m in search of a cheap electric skillet for melting the wax resist in my studio. I had one eons ago, but I don’t know what became of it. The thrift store didn’t have one and I really don’t want to spend $25 or $30 for a cheap one. I’ll try another of the thrift stores.
I know there was something else fascinating that I wanted to share, but I forgot. I’m sure to wake around 2AM and remember. Or not. Sleepy time now…![]()
My mom is already home .. ?!? She told me they’d hold her overnight, at the minimum least, but my dad was cleared to drive her home hours ago.
He texted that she’s sleeping - I bet she needs the rest, here’s hoping her chunky Lily Cat is keeping purring company - but going from “overnight at least” to “here ya go!” is .. well, I won’t say much about the U.S. health care system that hasn’t already been said.
Evening all. Soccer practice went well, the Mac-n-Cheese is assimilating in my belly, and almost everything is right with the world (Cleveland is losing the baseball game 0-3). Temperature is down to 69 {snerk} degrees so another comfortable nights sleep should be in store.
Thanks to everyone for the comments on the reshuffling of the dishes…I truly didn’t have any idea if folks did that or not, glad to know I’m not alone. FCM, I also rotate my clothing, usually when I am about out of something.
Nut, hope the handrail installation goes smoothly.
FCM, glad to hear you had a nice day out.
Shoe, guess the A.I. is a true literalist…and best wishes continue for your Mom.
Swampy, could do a couple loads of laundry tomorrow but think I will wait until Sunday to do the whole mass of stuff. Never been to a greyhound race, but have met some rescue greyhounds from the tracks.
Rocky, hope it was just a patron surprised/scared by a spider or something…
Bright Tree, the kids were OK and I have a mother of one of the boys as an assistant coach, so that helps a lot. And happy to hear the guitar is sounding great, but worried about you leg ache–might not want to wait the couple weeks if the pain continues to be that bad. IMHO of course.
And it’s past 9pm so I guess this will do for my late-night final. Catch you over another Big Bowl O’Cereal (Rice Krispies) tomorrow.
You’ll get your mojo and calluses back soonest!
Would a small crock pot do? They have sizes for dips and potpourri. My small one is 1.5 quarts and I use it for side dishes, but it would work if I wanted to melt wax.
The plates always go back in the same order. I’ve got green and blue, always green on top of the pile, then alternating. Glasses and cutlery, I don’t give a crap ( aside from the fork I hate, it gets shoved to the bottom of the pile until it can pretend to be a wisk.)
Went to the doc today, yeah yeah my BP is high…I have a serious case of white coat syndrome. They took some x-rays of my back, unclear when I will be hearing results of that. Got some meds to hopefully help with the ear situation. I can actually feel fluid in my ears moving around, not dizzy or anything, just the annoying noise of my own breathing, plus I can’t tell how loud I’m talking.
Hope y’all are doing good.
Clean dishes go to the bottom of the pile. Otherwise I’d need only 2 plates.
It’s raining.
I use vintage restaurant china, so it’s built to not fade and there’s no painted trim to scratch. It gets put away at the top of the stack. Flatware and drinking vessels tend to stay on the drain mat until I use them again. Guess who has the tiniest kitchen evah?
I’ve been known to. For some reason, I want to “even out” usage, as if it actually matters.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave..
