Am I the only one getting a Bad News Bears (in Breaking Training) vibe off the thread title?
I just want to add a hearty, “HEAR HEAR!”
I read several articles about this study and didn’t find even one article that dealt with the question of who was giving and who was receiving oral sex. That’s the number one question in my mind.
Like AveDementia, I’m concerned about the recent trend of young girls giving blowjobs and getting nothing in return. What a fucked-up situation!
I just want to give props to this beautiful pun, Chick-style:
HAW HAW HAW!

I got curious about the “do teenage girls give more than receive, oral sexwise.” I did a quick frequency table on the cohort my study group is working with, which happens to be sexually active heterosexual females under 22 (FTR, our study is on the epidemiology of cervical cancer). You’ll be happy to know that at least our kids are giving as well as getting at pretty damn close to 50/50. In fact, we have more receiving than giving, but it is far too statistically insignificant.
My favorite horror stories from the teens have sex age:
One boy lost his virginity to his babysitter without using protection and has had six more sexual partners since then. He impregnated two girls, one got an abortion, one didn’t.
Another boy has had sex with three partners, using condoms all three times.
Another only had sex once, he used a sock because it was handy.
What do all of these stories have in common? They’re all made up.
Three girls from the same class all lost their virginity together at a “birthday party” for a boy from another school.
They’re answers given by a pack of 12 year olds to one of those “teen sex surveys” that make up these studies.
So basically, what I’m saying is when teens are asked these questions, they lie.
I remember last year or maybe two years ago, there was a story in the NY Times Magazine about teen sex. The author (a man in his early 20s) was interviewing a pack of teenagers about their sex habits. All told wild tales (that he believed) about hooking up with random people every other night. Yet he never actually saw any of these so called lotharios speaking to or meeting any of their conquests. They all “went to other schools.”
Right. :wally
We like to extend ‘childhood’ years beyond it’s real end, but they are biologically adults, with adult needs and desires. They’re going to do it because they are biologically driven to.
I personally think that society can’t do much to stop them.
That’s part of the problem. We can’t stop them, and the very parents that scream about sex ed in schools are the ones that don’t educate their children beyond saying “don’t do it or you’ll go to hell.”
Fuck the kids, if I’m not getting any why should they?
Oooo, wait 'til Professor Xavier finds out. That boy is so X-grounded.
It’s Clinton’s fault. He invented oral sex, you know.
Let’s get serious. No, really. How likely is it that any survey of sexual attitudes or practices has any validity? Do people always accurately report what they think and do for such matters? Do they exaggerate? Do they minimize? Is there any reason to believe that those that brag are balanced by those that are too shy to admit it?
While any sex survey may be statistically valid for what people say they do, it is highly unlikely that it is valid for what they actually do do.
And don’t get me started on sampling methods and bias effects researchers can have on interviewees…
I’m pretty sure they would solve any and all of my problems. WILL. WILL solve my problems. Gotta be more optimistic… if only I could get a blowjob to cheer me up…
Eh, isn’t that exactly what the griping is about? :dubious:
No, Clinton just made it famous. Gore invented it.
You know no one ever heard of oral sex before Monica.
As long as we know where to send the Thank-You cards.
Just so that nobody thinks I’m crazy regarding the link between mental health issues and early sexual activity:

There are plenty more in PubMed, but this popped up so I thought I’d throw it in.
No, it isn’t causational.
Whaddaya think we are, a bunch of Catholic priests?!
It would be fun to slam your cite, threemae, just because it’s foxnews, but I decided to dig a little further.
The author of the report is Denise Dion Hallfors, who is connected to Society for Prevention Research.
Now, I’ve never heard the term “prevention research” before, so I clicked around on their website to find out what it was, and it wasn’t much help. However, I found this:
That sounds ok, if a little fluffy.
Denise Dion Hallfors works for Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation and its mission statements is:
All in all, while what she does might be science, to some degree, I get the feeling that the whole study was made to fit in with the work and mission these organizations do, rather than being set up to be peer reviewed with the possibility to be shot down.
However, not being a Ph.D. or being anywhere near knowledgable in psychiatry or psychology, I might be way out there. It’s just that the things she claims are so sensational, that I think it would have made a greater impact, were the claims legit.
That’s my beef with most of the surveys about teen behaviour, be it drinking, drugs or whatever. It is very likely they will lie, especially about sex.
