Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
That’s why.
I went to Fox news once, there wasn’t any news, just rants against The President. They ran the news on the bottom of the screen, but cut it off when comercials came on. I turned the sound off and just read the news. Too many loud mouths on it for me! I do not watch it any more. I watch other news stations a lot, and would just prefer they gave the real news, not all the gossip etc. It was that way back in the 50’s when TV first got a good start for most people. There was news shows and talk shows, now the commontators tell what the person said, instead of letting the people hear the whole speech for themselves.
I think lot of people like controversy, so they listen to Fox news!
I just checked abcnews.com and their headlines don’t mention Obama even once. They do have “Lucky Goose Survives Arrow Wound”.
Since when are pestiferous waterfowl given precedent over the President of the United States?
Dang corporate media.
I have said before and will say again… now. Fox News is the Howard Stern of television. They follow his model to a “T”. Bring on hot women, spout off without regard to people or facts, and get your listeners so fired up they do anything you ask them to do.
I think a decent portion of Fox viewers simply watch/read to see what Fox could possibly say next to spike your outrage. Those types of people (and I include myself in them) are what helped propel Stern to king of radio.
And hopefully like Stern, people will one day realize that Fox is just entertainment and shouldn’t be taken any more serious then Brad Pitts thoughts on the World Bank.
This has sucked ever since Murdoch got the Mandatory Fox News Web Site lVisit law (aka Rupert’s Law) passed
I would add “If you don’t like holding babies, let them go”, but after the lawsuit I’ve agreed not to.
I often think about how completely absurd and impossible to understand the history of this era will be to future generations (especially those after 2012 who must hear about it around campfires while fending off zombie Elvises). One of many will be “Fox News was a television channel dedicated to the destruction of liberals in high places and decrying the lack of values and morals in the land- Fox News is not to be confused with Fox entertainment which had the same owner and hosted some of the most controversial and raunchiest left wing shows ever aired”.
Don’t be too sure. Traditionally, the Bush Dynasty allows the Dems a term or two before installing another of their own. Neal may be prove problematical, however.
I went there over a month ago. The rants were about how Obama’s health care plan would pay for the dead to rise from the grave and feast on the flesh of the living.
And that’s a bad thing, all of a sudden?
Of course it is. The zombies are going to steal our jobs!
Well, it’s either that or raise taxes.
Gosh, I guess I watched at the wrong time!
What I wanna know is, when did they stop being reporters and begin being advocates for their own political agendas?
And don’teven get me started on those “tough-rough” (while still looking like a “babe”) sounding women!
I mean, it is the Fox NEWS channel, right?
As a sidebar, in his most recent novel, The Dome, Steve King really comes down hard on Fox while extolling the virtues of CNN, even to the point of naming most if not all the personalities on that channel.
Sorry. Guess I’ll just stay with CNN and try to keep Mr. Cronkite from spinning in his grave.
Having majored in journalism in college, I’m “old school”: Report the facts and leave opinions to editorials.
Thanks
Q
It’s also the “People’s Republic of China”.
Minor, pedantic, douchebag nitpick… it’s ***Under ***the Dome by Stephen King
… and because I missed the edit window due to the shitty browsers on the work laptops…
A self-professed liberal progressive like Stephen King railing on Fox News? Go on you say. Well, that tears it. I’m convinced.
I love Fox News. I suspect Murdoch, deep down, is a radical leftist, for he has done more than a thousand Chomskies to show us the value of what we see, read, and hear. He just took cable infotainment and made it…more so. This is what is anyway, just more obvious, with more breastplosions set to rock music.
Look, don’t do this. I’m a liberal, I’m a Democrat, I voted for Obama. We’re a nation based on principles of egalitarianism, not status. Obama is Obama. Insisting that he be referred to as “President Obama” every single time is not part of our democratic tradition. The constitution prohibits the granting of titles of nobility. So don’t try to make simple job titles into a status thing. This is the kind of thing that conservatives do.
