I honestly meant to reply with my thanks a while ago, but things got so busy and then I was too embarrassed to bump this thread, myself, it had been so long.
Damhna, I was (and am) so touched by your post. That you can sense the depth of our love through our words says so much to me. It’s true; I have a deep and abiding respect, admiration and love for this man. I feel blessed beyond measure that he came into my life and actually loves me back. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your good wishes. I promise to do everything in my power to live up to your expectations of greatness for us. We are very lucky people, indeed.
And thank you to everyone else here as well. You’ll never know what your kindness and support has meant to me.
I still have nearly 1/3 box of chocolates left. Like I said, this was an enormous box. And since I’m not going to let J. have any (he didn’t help, after all) and TT can’t appreciate it, I’ve got some eating to do!
I’ve also got 3/4 a pint of Ben and Jerry’s left…nobody wants to come over tonight and help me eat all of this, do they?
Snormy, this is going to sound incredibly corny, but do you remember getting our picture taken by those American tourists on top of St. Michael’s? And my camera was busted, though I didn’t know it, so the picture came out very blurry. Pity that, because we make a very cute couple…ask Fraulein Superfreak. Anyhoo, I was sorting through my photos yesterday and came across that one and this (incredibly hokey) thought popped into my mind:
Thomas and I have finally gone into focus
And it’s true, isn’t it? Doesn’t everything seem a lot clearer than it did in November? That’s what love does, it makes everything so clear…what a wonderful feeling.
Sigh. I told you it was corny.
Diane and Pandora, I’m heading off to Memphis on Friday…anyone want a Tennessee boy? If not, I’ll be back in Europe this summer and I’ll go a-hunting then.
Ah shucks Diane, ain’t you jus a sweet talking gal ! I guess my romantic side comes with being dysfunctionally English !
Thomas and Jill:
Wow, It never ceases to amaze me just how slow I am to pick up on how this kind of thing develops. There’s me thinking about good, healthy fun when, actually, all this serious romancing is going on. I guess I get there eventually and then it’s just beautiful to remember how it can be when two people find each other. Truly wonderful stuff. Hell, this is so cool and cute…and exciting !!!
The thing about arriving late is that everything’s already been said so I just want to add how happy I am that you two genuinely, very lovely people are really getting it together like this. Goodness me! Yeah, the more I think about it, the more it seems so …natural. Wow.
That phrase “… how what was complicated 1 second ago just became so very simple”, phew, that’s …it!. Spiny, it amazes me you can speak and write perfect English but to get across this change-of-life moment so perfectly is quite stunning. I salute you and the gorgeous redhead. Beautiful…
I have but one question: What are your pet names for each other ?? Really, we need to know !! – and besides, ‘Spiny’ just doesn’t seem to quite hit the spot ???
Tater - I dated an Alabama boy and a Georgia boy. In fact, the Georgia boy is my youngest son’s dad. Their accents just slay me and make me all gooshy, but as you can see, they were only temporary play things :::sigh::: I think I better wait for you to return to Europe, but doncha fergit me!
LC - Ya-huh, eyes jus’ one a those U-taw gals an if ya keep a tawkin those fancy words, eyes jus’ a might git awl sweet on ya.
