My brother Pat, known hereabouts as MonkeyMensch, died earlier today. He had glioblastoma multiforme*. As he pointed out, if you get to choose which cancer you’re going to get, this is NOT the one to pick.
I know he really enjoyed the time he spent reading and contributing to the SDMB. He’s the reason I was a long time lurker here. In real life Pat was smart, and funny, and inquisitive, and knowledgable, and fun to be around.
He will be missed by me and my siblings and, I suspect, by anyone that knew him well.
Thanks to everybody here who interacted with him and to these boards that gave him a lot of pleasure.

I’m sorry, MonkeysBrother. Thank you for letting us know. Please pass the Dope’s sympathies on to the rest of Pat’s family. His passing leaves a huge void in the world. And please do consider staying around yourself.
I’m sorry for your loss - which is also our loss. MonkeyMensch was one of those posters who seemed to be around forever. Please accept my condolences for your entire family.
