Feeling better today, thanks- I think it was a short recurrence of the mysterious low blood pressure thingy I had some years back, for which I never got a diagnosis.
I can definitely join in the itchy conversation though- I have eczema (mainly stress-linked), which has been pretty awful for some time now, on-and-off. The flare-up had died back a bit, but a week ago it suddenly popped up again properly.
Anyway, I’m well enough for irk today, so I’d better finish getting ready. Enjoy the random impulse betta Shoe- I don’t think there’s anywhere in this country one could buy a pet fish at 2am, otherwise I would have been buying them on the way back from the pub…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 84 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for the day, No biggie plans at all today. It will be a good day to be inside and dry. I think I may go through the filin’ cabinet and sort a bunch of stuff. Fun! Sup shall be various leftovers contained in da fridge. They need to be et up before they become science experiments.
doggio serve unsweet tea to guests?!?!?! QUELLE HORREUR! I did, however, serve chikin sallit that contained dark meat to company. That is a major fox paw. One can serve chikin sallit with dark meat to family, but never to company!
I read all but retained little, so yays, boos, hugs, nougies, trouts, chitlins, and how YOU doin’s all around as needed.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Interesting day ahead. Once I finish my morning intrarwebz routine, I need to put a second coat of paint on the garage door. At 10, I have an appointment at the dermatologist to get my annual once-over, hoping for no recurrence of skin cancers. After that, I head to daughter’s house to ride herd on Roxy till her mama gets home from work.
My sister is having another movie night, so Daughter is going there and I’ve got the kid here for the night - SIL doesn’t get off work till 11 and I’m not staying up till he claims her. I’m going to get pizza for supper - Roxy loves it and it means I don’t have to cook.
I’ve set an alarm, allowing myself an hour or so to play on line before getting to work. The door won’t take long. I have to leave around 9:30 to get to the Dr’s office. I’m hoping to get in there on time, get done, and have a chance to grab something for my lunch before heading to Roxy wrangling. I’d rather not raid my daughter’s fridge.
Moooom, the rugs look good, let’s hope the critters leave them alone. Sorry to hear MIL won’t move somewhere sensible, there’s always hope she’ll change her mind when life gets more difficult than it is now.
shoe I love the idea of a 2am shopping spree involving fish. Now I just need a store that will sell me a llama in the middle of the night.
nellie I hope you’ve found some relief from the itchies by now, sounds like you’ve tried just about everything. My eye’s a bit better today, so that’s a good thing, the alternative was a trip to A&E to see the eye nurses. The problem is that the surface of my eyes is very dry so things like grit, pollen, stray eyelashes etc don’t always wash off like they would for a normal person. I use a lot of drops and gels to keep the surface wet enough that things don’t stick to it but occasionally something does stick, and then works it’s way into the surface of the eye. It’s stupidly painful, but a short course of steroid drops sorts it out every time.
flyboy I hope you manage to restore the bike to its former glory, there is a lot to be said for sentimental value.
Yesterday I had a surprise package from my boss - she sent me a bottle of tequila! That woman knows me far too well,…that’s tonight’s Margaritas sorted out!
Well, that was an unexpected chore. Higgs came in reeking of poop. She must have rolled in something in the yard. I just finished bathing her. She no longer reeks. But she’s on The List.
I’ve also painted the door and frame. I couldn’t get the roller cover off the handle, and I ended up with a white hand. ick. Roller and cover have been tossed. I’m cleaned up and dressed and waiting till it’s time to head to the Dr’s office. And it’s only 8:30 of the AM!!!
I foresee an early bedtime tonight. And definitely pizza for supper. Whew!
I’ve ordered grab handles, and I’ve made an offer on a used gas cap and ignition switch. I found the appropriate rack on eBay – and nowhere else. I need it, but it’s $100 with shipping. I guess I’ll have to do it.
The deputy I talked to at the scene came to the house yesterday to sort out the license plate issue. The registration document I found was from 2016. I must have gotten a new plate after that, though I couldn’t find a later registration. Anyway, I think he’s satisfied now that there’s no phantom plate floating around somewhere. I told him I talked to a detective and enumerated the missing parts in case they search the perp’s residence. He said the perp lives a ‘homeless lifestyle, basically couch surfing at friend’ places.’ I’ll call the prosecutor in a week or so and ask for restitution anyway, even though I know I’ll never get it.
I’m glad you are going to be able to restore the bike, that priceless connection to your dad is important. That makes it a far greater offense by the criminals that stole and so mistreated it.
A not very nice part of me is enjoying that they were caught and are going to be prosecuted.
‘Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.’ But it’s hard!
I’m not clear as to whether both guys will be prosecuted. The guy in jail was apparently the actual rider – and I think he was the one caught with the heroin and needles.
Morning all. Rainy outside with more rain expected this weekend, so soccer may be called off on Saturday. Might not be a bad thing, I woke up this morning feeling a little unwell (nothing definite, just that feeling you have that things aren’t quite right on the insides). Will eat in a bit and see if that improves my outlook on life.
flyboy, good luck with the bike.
FCM, if you can’t get them up to your location, they should at least be looking down there for some type of assisted living, and at a minimum have one of those ‘emergency’ things that lets you contact someone if you fall/are incapable of helping yourself. But old people can be pretty set in their ways…
Laved and shaved. Indoor and outdoor felines fed, watered and given skritches. Off to labor in the fields of academia. I actually have students starting to make appointments for office hours, which means progress reports got home and were read by parents!
swampy, I know I’m risking my citizenship in the state of Tennessee, but I drink unsweet tea. Growing up, my dad dieted his way to a 200# weight loss. Since Mom didn’t drink iced tea, she just made the family tea without sugar, so I grew up drinking it.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Last night, I made an order from Chewy for Nelson’s food, flea collar, a new leash and collar. While I was ordering (nice promo code for 40% off), I ordered food for his grandmother Gracie, my dad’s dog. He mentioned that she really liked some of his that I left there and the smaller kibble was easier for her to eat, so the whole order should be delivered today or tomorrow (doggio may be sorting those packages, as it is usually delivered by the guys in brown).
Fixing to do KP, get the herb pots ready for the autumn/winter season, head to Lowe’s for some mums and shop for groceries. After that, another trip to the dog park is in order.
Today was the second day of fairly nice weather. Tomorrow the rain will arrive and with it, cooler temperatures. Which will last at least until Wednesday.
Originally we were supposed to fly to Madrid yesterday. We never got around to making reservations, and my parents, who were supposed to meet us there, got all their money back for the flights, hotel and cruise.
So now we have 2 weeks of vacation, so maybe there will be some mucking out and cleaning. And lots of movie watching.
And baking and cooking. Still trying to fill up the freezer, which isn’t all that big. Bought a kilo of bananas, so they are definitely going into banana bread.
Probably should buy a pumpkin or two. Getting to be pumpkin pie season.
I’d say I need a nap, but it’s almost 6 pm, Time to start the weekend.
The rain is supposed to start today, and continue for a week or a week and a half. I read a gale warning last night saying we should have winds around 1700 today. Mrs. L.A. is happy. She put some flashing between the roof flashing and the gutter to see if she can keep the deck dry, and she’s been waiting for rain to see if it works.
Dermatologist appt went well - my hide is in good shape. Well, saggy, but non-cancer-ridden. I’m at Daughter’s place with a cat on my lap, a snoring dog beside me, and a napping toddler down the hall. We’ll see how long this lasts.
FCD is talking about coming home tomorrow. He’s somewhat pissed at his folks. I feel for him, plus I think this is a preview of what I may have to deal with as he ages.
