The sun’s just now peeking through the fog, and it looks to be a nice day.
I spent much of yesterday Workin’ in the Honey-Do Patch, but today (the second day of my weekend) is all mine! Just need to trot down to Walgreens to pick up my scrips, and then I’ll probably plop down and watch some Star Trek on Netflix, and/or do some crosswords or something. Not feeling very ambitious but I’m OK with that.
It was supposed to rain this weekend but now it doesn’t look like it will. So I need to recharge for a couple of busy irk days!
FCM, here’s hoping you get a clean bill of health from the doc. Not too surprising about the in-laws, but frustrating I’m sure. How much contact do you and FCD have with their doctors, friends, or neighbors? Tapping into their local support group may help you help them more from a distance.
Flyboy, punishment and forgiveness are not mutually exclusive concepts. One often follows the other, in fact. If this dude is not too far gone, maybe being held accountable is what he needs to turn his life around.
I feel exactly the same. Iced tea actually makes me a little sad, but what’s worse (to me) is sweet tea. Because it tastes like a coverup.
Today is a day off. Of course, I’ve managed to work three hours and already gotten pretty mad, but now I’m trying really hard to not work and have even made myself go out on a walk while listening to an audiobook all by my little self.
Next is a trip to Costco and mom’s house. Oh, and I might see if Barnes & Noble is open and if I can do a curbside pickup or something. I’m trying hard not to use my phone or ipad as much because they’re way too portable and I’m finding myself consuming a truly unhealthy amount of electronic news to the point where it’s making me really stressed on a regular basis. I figured I could indulge in a pile o’ books and magazines to give me something else to hold that doesn’t allow my attention to drift to the internet. I’m gonna have to double down on my knitting, too.
If I’m extra sneaky I may be able to convince the kids to stay home while I go out. I love them dearly but I’ve been craving just some damn quiet for a change and, much as they delight me, they are never, ever, ever silent. Ever.
Kind of a busy but wasted day. Almost three hours at the dog park this morning. It was a chilly 41 when I got there, but the time I left, the gloves, hat, and coat were off.
Came home and irked, picked the neighbor up from the grocery store, and he suggested we go to the park later. Then it will be back to irk.
So not much getting done today.
It is beautiful outside though, so should enjoy it while it lasts.
Good morning/afternoon/evening, all. Still here, still itchy, but I have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon. He said (via secretary) that I could either go in or get a referral to a dermatologist. I think I’m going to end up going to a dermatologist anyway, but I’m hoping he can get me less itchy in the interim. I wonder if I could wear my pj’s there.
Last night was another long night. One of my neighbors has a truck that apparently has no muffler. It’s LOUD. He or she started it up at 3:00 a.m., and it startled me so much, I yelled a very bad word as I fell out of bed. I didn’t get back to sleep until about 7 a.m. If I were Mooooom, I’d have scrubbed floors and negotiated world peace instead of lying in bed. Mooooom for President! Campaign slogan ideas, anyone?
boofae, thanks for the info. I’m another member of the Dry Eye Club (theme song, “How Dry Eye Am.” I think my sister’s is due to an aging corneal graft, but her doctor has only been in practice a year or two and really isn’t sure. I think my sister will get a second opinion, as this is the third blister-ulcer in 3 months.
flyboy, I concur with wheelz on trying for compensation while working on forgiveness.
MetalMouse, hope you feel better!
Ms. Owl, I take it you’re at the amusement park today? Hope you’re having a blast!
This is where I went to school. Fort Hawkins grades 1-5. When integration came along I was bussed to the white side of town. It was a cool place. The school is long gone but the fort remains.
No. No. No. I don’t want the job. No. End of discussion.
FCD is coming home tomorrow - leaving early, so he should get home before dark. I hope. Meanwhile, Roxy and I are having mediocre pizza and tasty cucumber chunks. Here’s hoping she gets tired and falls asleep early tonight.
“I hereby state, and mean all that I say, that I never have been and never will be a candidate for President; that if nominated by either party, I should peremptorily decline; and even if unanimously elected I should decline to serve.”
If it was good enough for General Sherman, it’s good enough for me. Plus I have enough to do without adding the Presidency to the list.
Honeys, I’m ho-ome! Back from the doctor’s appointment. He’s never had a case of dermatographia before, but he knew a little about it. Anyway, as expected, he’s putting me back on prednisone. If I start posting stuff like, “I won’t sign the stimulus bill until after the election!” or “I’m a good leader,” feel free to remove me from office. I’ll be on 60 mgs. for a few days and will then taper off. Why, hello, insomnia! On the plus side, he thinks it’ll help the sinus thang, too. I have to walk to the pharmacy to pick it up.
Mooooom, think more like George Washington, who also came out of retirement to serve. Ask not what your country can do for you (aside from giving you camo drapes); ask what you can do for your country! All for one and one for all! Remember Pearl Harbor! E pluribus unum!
Butters, what a cool-looking fort! Could you see it from the school window? Were you happier there or at the school on the white side of town? What’s now where your first school stood?
My friend @silenus and I agree on quite a lot, but I like my chili with beans, my whiskey Irish and my iced tea unsweetened and preferably made with Earl Grey tea.
Re: the heated debate on beans vs no beans, I have a different perspective. I don’t like chili, specifically the cumin that always gets put into it.
Survived the back procedure. Now we wait several weeks to see if it helped or not. In the meantime, I’m supposed to spend almost all of my time flat on my back.
Hubby spent several hours in the ER for his kidney stones. He’s got one that’s stuck. They inserted a catheter and said maybe it would loosen things up. I’m confused about how this will work, considering they shoved the stone backwards.
Not to fear. You’d have a bevy of interior decorators to scour the internet for just the right red sparkly camo curtain to put the finishing touches on the White House for you. Jimmy Choo will thrust custom made ruby red slippers on you for your Inaugural balls, Dolly Pardon’s dress designers are in fierce competition to offer dazzling gowns for the ceremonies, all is good. You can sit back and rest on your laurels, or collards, whichever are your favorite greens.
be still our beating hearts, FCMooooom for Prez!!Again the south rises to make America great!! Biscuits and mint juleps for all! The line forms to the right (of course)!
