Isn’t tarragon a lovely herb? Glad that your dinner was tasty, Rebo.
Good morning all - I’m not as caffeinated as I’d like to be which is why I’m getting ready to go make my work coffee–I only had a few sips of my cup at home this morning. So blurf!
We put a pork shoulder picnic in the crock pot this morning; patted it down with salt-free lemon pepper and Mrs. Dash table blend, then patted brown sugar all around and set it into the crock pot atop of two chopped up onions, then poured about 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar atop of it, covered the crock pot and turned it on low. Should take about 10 hours to cook. Then we’ll do the pulling of the pork, and put it back into the crock pot with a little barbeque sauce. Good eatings!
I have the Foomobile back, and it ran just dandy gittin’ ta work today.
My fire chief had a major cow about me going into the house blind, so I now have a dandy set of specialty frames made to fit inside of my SCBA mask, and he’ll pay for the lenses. I have to get the lenses made and fit into the frames.
Herbs, I am so stealing that pork recipe of yours.
Auntie Cold, That’s cute! It was fun, for a day or two, but Friday it sucked, but Sunday I was just sick of it.
I’ve never had Java Chip, but this one I call the “crack” of ice cream. You can never just have one, and you crave it ALL the time.
Bastard Haagen-Dazs.
I finally got my truck out last night. The road is mostly sort of plowed. The school buses tried to run yesterday, they have been off since last Wednesday. One bus got stuck, the rest went back, silly school, they are going to try it again today, but I know they won’t be able to go one my road, the plow still hasn’t cleaned it out. So neighbour kid Nic has another day off.
Goats are still preggers, chickens are still laying eggs, cats and dogs are doing what they do. I have one cat, Hey Jude! that plays with the chickens, he chases them, then they chase him. This is whereI found him yesterday. He sometimes sleeps with the damn hens!
We have a big deadline today, we’re already behind, and I can’t get decisions out of the other team. It’s normally a late night for these projects, and it’s already looking like another one here. For no reason other than the other team is decision-impaired. I think next time we’re working on one of these, I’ll just come in a couple hours late so that maybe they’re actually ready to start when I get here instead of me sitting on my ass for a couple hours waiting for them to get going. It doesn’t quite seem right that I have to be here for 10-12 hours when I could do my work in <8 hours just cause they can’t get their part done in a regular work day. Grrrrrrr.
I think I’ll keep to myself today 'cause it looks like it’s going to be a grump-filled day here.
FarmMa, it’s cute that the critters get along and play with each other like that. I’m lucky if all of the humans and felines in my house get along on any given day.
taxi, I feel your pain. People seem to be allergic to decisions, for some odd reason.
One of the favourites here at the office is “Dodge the Action Item”, which involves reassigning action items to someone else, who in turn reassigns that item to another person, who just passes it off again… it’s sort of like Hot Potato, actually. There’s also “Yes, Go Ahead With That”, which can be played by providing a non-response like “sounds good to me” or “yeah, why don’t you do that” when someone provides you with several possible solutions to a problem, thus making you sound decisive while passing the actual decision-making back to the other player (defensive plays in this game include “sure, who do I assign the Action Item to” and “great, let’s set up a meeting for that”).
So I’m late by a day, but tonight I’m baking some hamantaschen. Half will be made with poppyseed filling, per The Boy’s request, and I’m not sure yet what the other half will be… I’ll probably peruse the jam selection at the supermarket, since I think it might be a bit much to make two fillings from scratch on top of the cookies.
Well, your video is still top of the hitlist for HRH. We have watched it so many times, I half expect her to start staying “It’s frickin’ cold!”
Our new dining suite and sideboard were delivered today. I will take pics soon to post (when I get time). Otherwise, it’s spring here - the usual 2-week love affair with normal temperatures before they go back up over 35C/95F!
Afternoon. I just bought cat food but haven’t put it away, so Aerin’s bothering me.
We just went to the doctor’s, because last evening I noticed that Nat had blood in his eye. After freaking out, I noticed it didn’t seem to bother him, it was nearly bedtime, and that if we went to ER we’d probably be there till after midnight, just to have someone say, “Oh, it’s nothing.” So we went today, so they could say, “It’s nothing”. Which they did.
I picked up my sewing machine (Yay!), bought cat food, and have come home. Nat’s in bed, and I think I’ll eat something and then crash for a bit, too. Up four times last night. Sleepy. Spaz, I’m sorry.
I need to go to Target and Trader Joe’s but I’m feeling lazy today. Maybe I’ll go tomorrow…
I got a call from a recruiter about a position with a large financial services company. The pay is not so great, the commute is 45 minutes and it’s a 6 month contract. The job supposedly starts on Monday. I guess I’ll have to wait and see what happens.
None of those flow off the tongue particularly well, imho. It needs to be short, snappy, and not rely on inside jokes. Might I suggest:
“Locked 'n Loaded!” (At least where I live, “loaded” is a synonym for drunk. IDK about elsewhere.)
“Beauty is in the Eye of the Beer-Holder”
“40 oz to Freedom” (Classic song by, I believe, Sublime. Or maybe Rancid. Not sure.)
Would try harder but brain is currently in full panic-attack mode, in which any thought process exceeding three seconds in length invariable devolves into “OHSHITOHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT”.
Hugs, boos, yays, etc to all needing/deserving mumpers.
Glad Gnat’s okay, LiLi. Toddlers are remarkably resilient, all things considered… their parents, not so much.
Also, glad there’s finally some progress, taxi. May I suggest a relaxing game of “I’m Not Sure, But Let Me Get Back To You On That”?
Why isn’t it 5pm yet? Why why why? I’m so bloody bored I could yank my eyeballs out.
I went to the fabric store on N.O.L. Didn’t find fabric for my dress (again), but I did find an awesome deal on stretch sports-weight cotton (on sale for $4/m… woot!) and promptly bought a couple ends in a nice neutral-ish drab olive and a gorgeous peacock blue.
While KT was home sick yesterday ('cause this is a really important thing to do while sick), he made Chex mix. It is one of my weaknesses. I can eat a piece of cake or a cookie and then be done. But Chex mix? I say I’m going to eat this much and put some in a bowl and eat that. And then I go back for more. And more. And just this much more. And then some more. It’s eeeeeeeevil stuff.
ETA: I was thinking more of the “Today’s not looking good for a decision; how’s tomorrow?” game, Muppet.
Holy cow, Puggy!! Are you worried for your job? Good thoughts coming your way.
I’ve got a chicken in the rotisserie - it’s starting to smell yummmm. I’m going to smash some N.O.T. and cook up some cabbage. Maybe another veggie, too. We shall see.
STG - I like: - I’m not the sane one. Maybe because I identify with it…
