Lest you think I was making it up, I remembered where I heard it. It was in fact, not the weatherman, but Dave’s Rave on the Steve Dahl show here in Chicago. The phrase in question is recreated on his website as the Dave’s Rave for July 23rd. I cut and paste the pertinent parts here:

Okay, I went and did a search on Dutch Love. This is one of the first hits back. Now I am disturbed. It seems that Dutch love involves, well check out the link.

I’m not sure whether to be happy for my father or afraid of my mother (who is Dutch, but never really got down with the “Dutch love” in front of us kids, thank goodness!)

Adam Yax, you are so wrong about the Dutch, according to this page, Dutch love is, and I quote
