Had you said the dogs looked ‘stupid’ or ‘ridiculous’ then no one would have cared. If there had been a black dog and some said it looked like a niger (niggery?) then would you understand the why folks are taking exception to your comment? How about if the dog looked Jewish and someone said it liked like a kike (kikey)? Would you understand then?
Honestly, you can’t be THIS stupid. The term you used is derogatory and insulting…and frankly it also shows how ignorant you are that you used it. At a guess most of the folks who made their dogs look so friggin stupid were probably straight, not gay…and most gays I know aren’t flamboyant like that at all…while I know a number of straight ones who are. People are people regardless of their sexual orientation.
If you were smart (or even had two brain cells to rub together) you’d apologize for saying what you did and make a mental note (you might want to get a rather large Post-It and staple it to your forehead) not to do so again. So you say they look ‘faggy’ instead, because this conveys information (they look like ‘fags’, i.e. they look like your conception of homosexuals) and is not a ‘misuse’. Is it then your contention that the dogs are homosexuals, or that their owners are? Because otherwise I’d have to say your use of the term would also be ‘wrong’, a ‘misuse’ and really provides no meaningful information except to illustrate your own bias and prejudices.
