I saw a wonderfully sweet advert a couple of weeks ago. A man is looking into a car. In the driver’s seat is sitting a girl of about 5 or 6 years old, can barely fit in the seatbelt, and he is cautioning her to drive carefully, put on your seatbelt, don’t go on the freeways, “call me, but not on the phone”, etc. Flash to the guy. Flash back to the girl - who is suddenly sixteen years old and a lovely young woman.
What a touching and sweet ad! It’s for a Subaru outback, but that’s moot - the fact is the ad really resonated with both me and my SO, and we don’t even have kids! Here is a link to the ad so you can see for yourselves:
I read somewhere (possibly in a previous thread here) that the two girls in that commercial are the real-life daughters of the actor who played the father.
I like this ad, too, and like KneadToKnow mentioned, the little girl’s inflection is perfect. I remember thinking, “finally, an ad where I’m not expected to despise anyone!”
I like it, too. It makes me realize why sometimes my parents say the most basic things to me, even though I’m an adult now. I guess when you’ve raised someone from birth, it’s hard to see them as a fully fledged adult at times.
FYI, here’s a blog post about that Subaru ad, confirming that the father and the girls are related. (His name is Andy Lyons, while the older daughter is Lanna and the younger is Georgie. Also, he ad libbed the driving advice.)
