Good God, I can't believe I was so getting into ______

It could be somewhat clever at times, but I just felt wrong liking it for some reason.

Power Puff Girls was a great show (the movie, not so much). Nothing to be ashamed of at all. For a tour de force of cultural references, you should check out the episode called Meet the Beat-Alls.

First, All That with Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson, then Kenan & Kel because of them. Though Kenan seems to have the more substantial career at this point, it was Kel’s Jerry Lewis-like smirks, double-takes, accents and physicality that had me making a point of watching it every Saturday, even if I was going out. And Kel’s clothes sense was so spot-on.

I especially loved their endings, always some variation of: “Kenan, go get a screwdriver, six Filipinos and a salmon croquet, and meet my down by the Fillmore Street bus stop.”

Are you sure we’re not sharing the same kid? Does he watch Zoe101 over there too?

Oh, I agree (performed by Bowling for Soup). And Ashley Tisdale’s fourth-wall-breaking line at the theme’s end cracked me up the first time I heard it.

It was Kenan telling Kel what to get, not the other way around. My favorite of these was something like “Go get a heart, a brain, and some courage, and meet me at the Emerald City,” if only for Kel’s response: “But where am I gonna get some (bizarre, sing-songy voice)COURAGE?

And who could forget his admission in court? “I…dropped the screw…in the tuna!”

:smack: All those "k"s krossed me up! Even wiki was obliging: “Kel, bring a pie, a Spice Girl, and a VHS player and meet me at the football field. Come on Skippy!”

Good stuff though!

“Who loves orange soda?”
“K-K-K-Kel loves orange soda…”
“Is it true?”
“Mmmm-hmmm… I do, I do, I do, I do-oooo!”

Why? They were cool.

Holy Crap. Some time last summer, MTV, VH1 or some channel played several ANTM seasons over the course of several days. I had never watched an episode prior to that. Now, I’m hooked. I even participate in ANTM pools. Last season my wife won $30, and this season I think I have the good picks!

Power Rangers.

Yes, Power Rangers.

Go ahead. Mock me.

Soundly.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying The Powerpuff Girls, and I say that as a mostly-straight twenty-six year old guy.

Pro-wrestling, on the other hand, is something of a guilty pleasure. I grew up on JCP, NWA, and WCW and still watch a few pay per views a year. Mostly just the big four and the only reason I won’t be catching WrestleMania with my dad this year is because I’ll be in New England visiting friends.

I can’t believe I was so getting into The Wedding Planner . I had the stomach flu this past weekend, and in between thinking I was going to die and wishing I would die, I watched The Wedding Planner on the On Demand. Hey, it was free. And I was surprised how much I…okay no, it sucked, and I knew it sucked while I was watching it, but I was too weak to care.

After that, though, I turned to Party of Five, which I missed when it aired originally. Aside from not being able to see Jack from *Lost *as anyone other than Jack from *Lost *(which makes his rakish ass of a character really surreal, 'cause in my noggin, it’s *Jack *being an ass), I’m really kind of enjoying it. I have, however, winced at seeing no less than three of my old outfits being worn on the show.

I actually watched an entire episode of Diagnosis Murder

My excuse is that the co-star was Rachel York. I think I could be persuaded to watch Eastenders* if she was on it.

  • you’d have to pay me, but she’d make it bearable.

Lost.

We watch basically no first-run TV because we simply don’t have the time. But I kept hearing about it from people, including one person saying she loved it so much she actually bought Season 1 on DVD (at the Zappa / Knig household, we simply don’t buy DVDs).

So a couple of months ago, we added Season 1 to our Netflix list. And we were doooooomed.

We just finished Season 2 finally. And we’re in the unenviable position of having to tape Season 4 without watching it - if we watch it, we risk spoilers. If we don’t, then we have to finish season 3 then wait until the powers that be release season 4 on DVD.

Heroes.

I actually had that pop up on Netflix as one of those “if you enjoyed x, you’ll probably like y” links. And it was available to watch online.

I just finished season 1. And now I’m in the same boat as with Lost/4 except we weren’t taping it all along. Though I gather Heroes/2 isn’t as good as the first season, and I’ve already stumbled across at least 1 spoiler online (not that the spoiler in question surprised me: Sylar’s wound definitely looked survivable in the last episode of season 1.

Reminds me of Kenan Thompson on Kenan and Kel, now he’s on Saturday Night Live. Not sure if he’s making a big splash there, but I always though he did a good job on Nick.

Yes, I am too lazy to turn off Drake and Josh sometimes too! I freely admit that it would have been a hit on nighttime network TV back in the day.

This Sunday I reminded my kid that Zoey 101 was going to be a new episode and it wasn’t because I’m fascinated that Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. It’s because Quinn and Lola are now dating and I wanted to see what’s up with that.

My 11-year-old son often watches Drake and Josh, and if I’m in the room I find myself watching it. Just can’t help it, it’s so dumb! So I do what I can to stay out of the room.

I like SpongeBob in relatively small doses - the movie was just too much.

I liked the Batman cartoon when it was on in 1993 or so.

Hey, me too! When I lived with a certain friend of mine, this was appointment TV for us. We even made a point of stopping at the Stanley Hotel when we drove through Colorado, not because of the connection with “The Shining” but because of this show. I get a kick out of the way that Jay and Grant balance each other out, one the gruff pitbull of the group, the other the sensitive diplomat. Also, I’m of two minds regarding the existence of ghosts, but damned if I don’t freaked out by EVPs every time.

My candidate for this thread is Torchwood. I’d always heard how silly and poorly written it was, but a friend of mine recently made me watch the “Captain Jack Harkness” episode, and I was completely sucked in, so much so that it had me crying in several spots (especially the end – God, that kiss!). I thought it was a great example of how science fiction can be put to use to tell really emotionally compelling stories. I was also intrigued by the charged dynamics between the team members (e.g., Ianto shooting Owen). So now I’ve got Season 1 queued up on Netflix and am trying to get caught up on this season before it ends.

I’m hooked on “Bad Girls,” a British women-in-prison-semi-soap-opera. Logo (the “gay channel”) runs reruns every day, with one newer episode on Thursday night.

Another one occurs to me: though I’m not ashamed, I would always watch TLC’s “What Not To Wear” whenever it was on. My wife would make fun of me for it.

I was always facinated by how often women (and sometimes men) would have a psychological break over throwing away their old clothes and buying new stuff.
