Good ipod touch games?

I’m looking for some cool itouch games. My router has some weird push-button verification scheme and I can’t figure out how to connect my itouch to the internet. So games requiring internet access are out. I’ve found a bunch of cool free games, but many more sucky ones. Which makes spending money on paid games seem like something of a crapshoot. Anyhow I thought I’d start a thread listing some of the cool free itouch games I’ve found, and see if anyone else can post some more.

Parking Mayhem lite - Puzzle game where you have to figure out how to navigate a car through various obstacles in a parking lot. Er, it’s more fun than it sounds. Seriously.
Contract Killer - You are the rooftop sniper. Haven’t spent a huge amount of time playing this yet, but the 5-6 missions I did were fun.
Stupid Zombies - An Angry Birds type game.
Iron Commando - A Contra clone for the itouch. Uses a touch screen pad and buttons, which isn’t super responsive but works.
Paranoia - A weird text adventure game. You select from prewritten responses/actions, so it’s more choose your own adventure than text adventure. I’d like play more games like this.
Towercraft - A nice little Tower Defense game. You can destroy trees and rocks to free up room for more towers, but they can also one-shot several enemies, so it adds another strategy element: How much do you clear out to make room, and how much to save for the tough bosses. Multiple maps, upgradable towers, etc.
Epic War TD - Another Tower Defense game. This one’s got wide paths and scores and scores of monsters, even on the earlier waves. You rack up money pretty fast, so you’re constantly frantically building and upgrading towers. Different than Towercraft, but they’re both pretty good.
Frisbee Forever <tm> - Licensed by Wam-O, so it’s saved from calling itself “The Flying Plastic Disc game”. But it’s pretty fun. Basically, shoot a frisbee along an obstacle course. Go through hoops and tunnels for speed, collect stars to unlock stuff. You can spend 5 minutes or an hour playing it, although it’s more likely to be an hour, this game is pretty addictive.
Anger of Stick 2 - One of those “the level is constantly rising/sinking and you have to keep going up/down to stay alive” games (there’s a surprising amount of these). Control a stick man and beat up other stick men as you struggle to stay on the screen. Would be much better if I could get used to the controls (the game has a touch screen dpad and buttons).
Fall Down - Roll a ball down a maze as it rises. Not too deep, but fun to whip out and play for a few minutes.
Sky Burger - Tilt your itouch back and forth to catch the correct burger ingredients as they fall from the sky. Fun for a while, but the ingredient lists (levels) seem kind of random and it doen’t get harder as you progress, meaning once you get the hang of it you can play forever and it gets boring.
Gemcraft free - the Classic Gemcraft. Haven’t played it enough to say whether it contains all/most of the GC goodness present in other versions, but looks very similar.
Glow Unblock - Sliding Block puzzle game. Fun if you like these.
Rush Hour - Another sliding puzzle game.
Fruit Ninja Lite - Slice fruit thrown up in the air. Hit a bomb by mistake and die. Ehhh, some may find this type of fast reflex test/game fun but I don’t.
Fast and Furious Lite - Not bad once I got used to the tilt screen controls, but the lite version only seems to have 1 track and 3 cars.
Moto Trialz - I hate games where you have to lean back and forth. Plus, neg points for the unnecessary Z
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Lite I kind of like this, although it’s a bit hard. Controls aren’t as responsive as Fast and Furious, but it feels much faster and the graphics are better.

I’m particularily interested in racing games (haven’t found many of those yet), RPG’s (haven’t really found ANY), and more Tower Defense games are always welcome. But post whatever cool itouch games you’ve found (preferrably ones that are free and don’t require an internet connection).

For RPG’s, there are MUD/MUDD clients, but those require 'net access. Same thing with most RPGs IME.

I like Bananagrams (quite addictive), and there was a flying game called paper pilot, i think. that was quite cool. Scrabble was naturally fun.

Regarding the router, the WPS push button can be awkward. If you have an id and a password, you should be able to enter that.

That’s the problem, the router doesn’t use a password. There’s a button on the router, and when you set up the remote computer it (the setup program for the remote USB card) asks you to push the button, then click ok on the remote computer within 1 minute of pushing the button. It then connects. I don’t recall ever setting a password for the router, because it used the push button feature. But when I try to connect the ipod to the router, it indicates that its password-required access (there’s a little lock icon on it and it prompts me for the password).

Hedgehog Launch by Armor Games. It’s my go-to when I don’t have wi-fi.

You mentioned tower defense, so I’ll suggest Plants Vs. Zombies. I also really like Osmos. Each of those are $3, I think. Pretty good price for several hours of entertainment.

Is Osmos the same as the PC game available on Steam? If so that’s a pretty decent game. I’ve found 3-4 decent TD games for free but my bday is coming up so if I get an itunes gift card I might pick up PvZ.

I’m playing a free game now called CF Defense. You control a machine gun along a beach, and have to pick off hordes of enemies rushing you. Good game, but very hard, even on easy mode. And I can’t tell who is shooting at me, so losing life feels kind of random.

One game I really miss in my switch to Android, and that I check once or twice a month to see if it’s ever gotten ported, is Aurora Feint. Over the years of ongoing development, it got to be a bit bloated and slow for a first-gen iPhone, but always continued to play. Looks like there’s a “lite” version that’s pretty much what the game was when it first came out, with fewer bells and whistles, and a $1.99 full version. Try the free, see what you think.

Another vote for Plants vs Zombies
Pocket Racing is a good racer
Wordicus - like a turn based boggle word game.
Moxie - another good word game
Tiny Wings
Save Toshi DX

I have wasted far, far too much time of my life on:

Skee Free - it’s skeeball. What can I say?
Textropolis - You’re given the name of a city, and you need to find all the words the letters in the name can make up. The more you find, the more built-up the city gets.
Miss Spell’s Class - I think this app is through one of the dictionary publishers. Anyway, you have a time limit to identify as many misspelled words as possible. Damn thing is hard!

QWOP - you control the individual muscles of a track athlete. Sort of. Incredibly frustrating, extremely funny, surprisingly fun once you get the hang of it (if you ever do). Check out the free flash version first.

previous QWOP thread

I have a few more
Undead Ocean Dojo - an anime style platformer. Pretty good controls, seems fun although I haven’t gotten far yet.
Babylon Twins - another platformer. Good controls, with some puzzle elements and 2 characters to switch between. Very nice arabian style music. I just played the free one, which is short, but would consider getting the full game.
the CF Defense I mentioned in my op is actually called Cross Fire. It’s a pretty awesome “machine gun hundreds of soldiers down on a beach” game.
Airport Madness Challenge - Strategy game that forces you to think quickly and pay attention to a lot of details. Control planes taking off and landing at an airport . The runways cross each other and you have to time your takeoffs and landings to avoid crashes.
Zombie Smash - Defend your house by flicking rushing zombies into the air with your fingers (or thumbs, it’s easier). Really fun game, am considering buying the full version.
2XL SSX - Motorcycle racing game with really nice graphics and responsive controls. Seems to be mostly indoor BMX style tracks covered in ads for STP and the like, hopefully the full version has outdoor tracks.
iStunt: Insane Hills - Fun 2d game where you balance a snowboarder through an endless series of hills, with lots of jumps and obstacles.
some more TD games:
Comet TD
Marbles TD
Epic Defense TD
Attack the Castle

btw sometimes when starting a game it will tell me I have low memory and to close some apps. When I exit games I just hit the home button. How do I clear apps from memory?
