Good websites for IT admins?

Hi there,

I’ve recently started managing the network, hardware and software of a medium-sized company and I’m trying to automate or simplify your typical IT admin tasks. I’m looking for good tools I can use.

Do you know of any good websites / forums out there I should check out?

Any actionable Intel would be greatly appreciated.
Some examples of boring tools I’m looking for:

  • Something to keep track of equipment purchase orders and their status (received, approved, waiting for delivery…)

  • helpdesk/inventory software

For forums 4sysopsand Ars Technica. For specific software (for Windows) I highly recommend DameWare.

For automation, scripting is your friend. Recently Ive been using a lot of AutoHotKey because its easy and can do a lot of things.
