I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread, but active Gmail/Google users may be getting preferential access when they are invited. (as opposed to Hotmail or other ISP users).

So far the impression I’m getting from Google+ is that it’s Facebook, with fewer people. no annoying “So-and-so just bit you and needs you to feed their farm animals!” stuff, but even Facebook let you block that stuff.
Really, it requires zero effort for me to have both open automatically with Firefox, so I’ll probably just use them in parallel for the foreseeable future. Currently my main beef with Google+ is that I can’t figure out how to get rid of the chat that is integrated with Google+, Gmail, and of course Google Talk, meaning every time someone PMs me, I get three popups. :rolleyes:
