Got a SDMB problem? List it here.

I looked through this thread and didn’t see this particular problem. How come when I go to a forum and see the very helpful “Go to first new post” button next to each thread but move to the next page of the forum and they’re all gone?

That’s because “new” is a relative term. I think it is set at a half hour from the last time you had any activity; after that (which is what most of the threads on the second page are) posts are not considered “new”, so there is no link to them.

It’s not that. I’m having the same problem - I can spend a total of ten minutes (broken up into several loadings of different threads) on the first page of a forum, but when I click over to the second page, all the threads show up as ‘old,’ like I’d either read them since any new posts, or they hadn’t had any new posting activity since the last time I’d logged into the boards. This is very consistent - first page fine, second page all old, across all the fora. I’ve been here for long enough that I have a sense of the fifteen minute no-activity period before the board treats your activities as a new visit, and this isn’t that.

I’m not so sure this is an actual problem, but oh well. I went to a thread and it had mysterious new features - not all of them I checked out, but by the reply button there were two new ones, including “multi-quote”. The information i’d expect to be on the right was also on the left.

Any clues what happened there?

Almost every time I click on “go to first new post” I only get taken to the top of the thread. It works occasionally, but very sporadically.

I didn’t find a mention of this in a search, but I may have missed it. Is anybody else having this problem?

The Search function. For the past week, it’s not working, it’s working, it’s not working . . . Up and down like the Assyrian Empire.

Hey, Thread Tools now works for me!!! Great Job:)

As GilaB said, it’s not that. I’m fully aware of the normal activity timeout. This is new behaviour since the upgrade. I can click to the second page within seconds, with threads on that second page that have new posts since my previous login, but they are shown as read.

Might have been mentioned, but the search isn’t working. Every time I click search it doesn’t leave the current page.

I finally got it to leave the search page just now–but then I got a fatal error! I was going to search again to copy down what the error was, but then it just stayed on the search page again.

Do we still need to wait five minutes between searches?

Search for my user name is not returning any results, and my last post didn’t post.

Any idea why Quick Replies are no longer enabled? Is that something I have to enable on my end? [checking-I don’t think so[

Yes, I also would like to see Quick Replies reenabled if possible, please.

Clicking on any thread in a forum will make all threads in that forum show as being read (no new posts).

If I reply to a post, then go back to the same thread the post was in, the page shows all threads in tat forum from (I think) the time I went to the thread I posted in as having been read. However, if I go to another forum the “last thread read” functions normally.

This may have been mentioned - sorry, haven’t read every post! - but when I click on a username within their post, it takes me to their profile. Can we at some point have the functionality restored to have the “view profile”/“find all posts” option restored? It’s kind of a pain to navigate through the new profile layout.

Okay, this explains what I am seeing. This is clearly a change since the upgrade. Is it a bug, a feature, or a setting? I consider it to be very undesirable - can it be fixed?

I’m asking for the second time: When will the forum display be fixed? Or is this it?

Jerry mentioned somewhere that he had to apply a temporary fix to only display 200 threads.

Jerry is providing updates in post one of Current Status of SDMB Upgrade

I don’t see anything there directly tied to this issue, but I believe it ties into where he mentioned he tried to restore code and it still caused problems.

Found it!

I’m sure this has been asked before, but I don’t have time to read every post in this thread: Was it anticipated that it would take this long, days becoming weeks, to upgrade the boards? I know previous SDMB upgrades were once-and-done.

And in the nicest way possible: How long is “a while”? [Sally Brown]Is it Christmas yet?[/SB]
