Got Tiger 10 with Motion Plus for Wii today

IMO, it didn’t just look great for a Wii game, it looked great for a game, period. More power =/= better visuals (note I didn’t say "graphics’). Mario Galaxy is, what I would consider to be, one of the best looking games this generation. Saying it could have looked better on the 360 is akin to saying anything on the 360 would look better on whatever the next generation of consoles is going to be–just because it may be true doesn’t render the game any less visually impressive.

What you are saying is applicable if we weren’t comparing the same game on platforms that exist today.

Are you saying that MG wouldn’t have looked better if it had been developed for the 360? Seriously? I’m not saying that MG was not impressive, I’m saying that it would have been MORE impressive on the 360. Just like I’m saying that Tiger is MORE impressive on the 360.

If MG gameplay was identical, but the graphics were 360 caliber and you were to claim that your opinion of the game wouldn’t increase due to the better graphics I’d call you a liar.

Hell, Tiger 10 on Wii doesn’t even looks 80% as good as Tiger 05 (06?) that came out at launch on the 360 4 years ago.

I said quite the opposite, actually. Now I’m wondering if you actually understood my post.

Just WTF ARE you saying here then?

I am guessing =/= is some obscure (to me) shortcut to imply Not Equals. So, he is saying more power does not equate to better visuals. Even if it does equate to better graphics.

Bingo. I apologize if “=/=” wasn’t clear–it’s a sign used heavily around other forums I frequent, and it didn’t even occur to me some people may not understand its meaning.

So… I really like the Golf game on Wii Sports.
What game should I pick up if I want to play more golf games for the Wii?

If it’s equal to the Wii Golf Graphics I’ll be happy. I don’t have any other systems so there’s no need for that. I’ve never really played Golf Games though for any videogame systems.
But I really did enjoy Wii Golf and still do w/ my family. (so Multiplayer would be nice)

Should i pick up Tiger 10 then? or should I get another Wii Golf game instead?

An equals sign with a slash through it is widely known and written offline, as it is taught and fairly widely used in math class from 6th grade all the way through high school and college. Online, for some reason, I usually see an exclamation point in front of an equal sign (!=) instead to represent the same thing; I think it might be a programming term but I’m not completely sure on that.

You know, my dad just asked me that exact same question, actually! Anyway, I just got back from E3, and played the sequel to Wii Sports, called Wii Sports Resort. It has 12 games, one of which is an improved version of golf (since the game comes with Wii MotionPlus). Not only does it control better, but it has new “Resort” holes in addition to the originals. I’m not sure how many there are total, but I just wanted to throw that out there for ya.

Yeah, != is a programming term used in C type languages. I had never come across Red’s shortcut before.

I can see now how Red’s shortcut could represent the standard mathematical symbol. But, I didn’t pick up on it right away. Especially, since I am so used to !=

Back on topic:
I’m wondering. Does the motion plus enable you to play other games with tighter controls? Or does it have to be specifically programmed for?

It only works with games programmed with it in mind, sadly.

Yeah. It has no effect on games that weren’t made for it unfortunately.

Also, != is the standard typed method of saying " does not equal". I’ve never seen the method you describe. It’s a poor way of representing an equal sign with a line thru it. What you say makes no sense though. I’ll type up a respond tomorrow when I’m not on my iPod.

Define “standard,” as it doesn’t align with what I’ve seen. I imagine its a demographics thing, seeing as the sites I frequent use the symbol I use.

Then you’re still not understanding it.

Cubsfan: I think the point is that resolution is not necessarily the most important factor in determining if a game is beautiful or not. Saying that higher resolution is always better is like saying that pointillism is a lesser form of painting because, well, you can see those dots.

Our modern focus on resolution as being the defining characteristic of graphical quality has led to a lot of beautiful low-res games being overlooked, and a lot of games with very high resolution, very dull graphics.
