Just played a little of it. Not bad. It seems pretty accurate. The Wii graphics SUCK but otherwise it seems ok.
Anyone else get this?

I don’t have it, but I did play it. Have you tried the Frisbee golf yet? That mode is really fun, and actually demonstrates how cool MotionPlus really is, much more so than the game itself.
I’m wavering on it. I just don’t know if it’s going to be what I’m looking for and I don’t want to get disappointed.
You could be disappointed. The motion plus is way better than a regular wiimote but it isn’t earth shatteringly so. Also if you are playing multiplayer you must hand the wiimote back and forth because the standard remote plays like ass and your guests won’t want to use it. The party golfmode requires multiple wiimotes and if you don’t have multiple motion plus modules no one will want to play with you because the difference is so dramatic that the basic wimote feels crippled compared to the mp remote. That said though I expected to be blown away by the mp but wasn’t. It is noticably better though and you get a good discount buying it packed with tw so I’d say it’s worth picking up. It’s too bad it doesn’t assist older games though.
Yeah…golf isn’t the best showcase for the technology. I mean, Tiger Woods 09 was already pretty competent with the standard Wiimote technology. However, as I mentioned earlier, the Frisbee Golf really shows how Wii MotionPlus shines–and it’s put to even better use in the upcoming Wii Sports Resort (which I played extensively at E3).
At any rate, all the reviews I’ve read have stated this is the best version of Tiger Woods yet, besting the 360 and PS3 versions, with IGN even going so far as to say “EA has crafted what is ultimately the most satisfyingly immersive and altogether entertaining golf simulation that money can buy, period.”
I don’t think I’d be playing with anyone, at least not very often.
What I’d like: More courses and a more accurate swing tracking system.
What do you mean? The capture of the swing itself? MotionPlus delivers that.
Then you can safely buy this game because the swing tracking is greatly improved, to the point that you won’t be able to use the regular wiimote anymore to play and there are I think 28 courses, which is a hell of a lot to me.
The graphics SUCK…but that’s expected.
However my swing is, I want it accurately displayed. I want to be playing the next best thing t golf in the dead of winter.
Hm. I think I shall look into it.
Could we have some screenshots, video, or maybe just an explanation of how the graphics SUCK, and why it’s to be expected?
I’d expect Wii graphics to be “not great” as well.
I think any “poor graphics” arguments at this point are ridiculous unless they are downright buggy or the person making the argument is too young to have ever seen anything else. The last golf game I played was Jack Nicklaus on SNES and it was a hell of a lot of fun. It never even occurred to me that the graphics must’ve triple-quadruple-backflip-drop-kick-bitchslap-SU-UH-UH-UH-UH-UH-UCKED. Would it really affect your experience at all if you played on 360 or PS3 and you could see what style of shoelaces Tiger was wearing?
That’s just my opinion, of course. I ALWAYS thought “graphics suck” was an awful criticism, even when I was a kid and people were saying it about NES games. I can’t imagine caring unless they hinder the gameplay. Now is there a cutoff? Sure, but it’s way below what you would ever see in a current, mass-produced game.
Totally agreed. It’s bizarre how even many reviewers seem to place a greater emphasis on a game’s look than how it plays.
“in my day all we had was a white square and two lines…AND WE LIKED IT THAT WAY!!! Now GET OFF MY LAWN you kids!!”
Read my last sentence. That is explicitly not the argument I was making, nor is it even close, even in a satirical way.
Which is a damn shame, since the two are often inversely proportional (to a point, anyway.). The more time the developers spend fiddling with how to make the guns shiney, the less time they spend trying to actually make the game FUN.
Take a look at Tiger 10 on the 360 and then look at it on the Wii. I’m not going to link to any site because if you take .5 seconds to look at any video game site out there you will see all the screen shots and pictures you could ever wish for. There is a major difference between the 2 in both the resolution, lighting and the animation quality. In a game that is based around accurate recreations of real life locations and real life people I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the better graphics are a better recreation. This is especially noticeable in games that are multiplatform like this is. Might not matter in a game like Hot Shots Golf or Mario Golf but Tiger Woods golf it does.
The graphics on the Wii truly suck. Maybe not compared to the SNES but compared to the other options currently out there they do. Notice I didn’t say that GAME sucked…
I just don’t get this at all. I thought Mario Galaxy was absolutely gorgeous.
Like I said, it’s all relative to what you know. If you took a SNES and put it in the hands of someone who hadn’t ever seen anything beyond an Atari 2600 it’s going to look amazing to them. But that SNES looks deficient compared to the systems of today. The Wii is deficient compared to other systems of today. Mario Galaxy did look great on the Wii but I promise you that if they made MG on the 360 the Wii version ain’t going look as good any more.
As far as the motion plus goes it works pretty well. My wife and I played disc golf last night and it was fun enough. Not very deep bu tfun.
