Came home from work today to find that the cats had a party. Someone managed to open a cabinet where I had some cat nip hidden and pulled out a couple bags. There was catnip everywhere.
I thought I’d pull on my kilt while I did the laundry.
I think dinner should actually be celery and water.
Non stop whirlwind of work, fun and volunteering this weekend. I could use a day off.
Coyote, were they giggling and having the munchies when you got home?
Bummer, Johnny. (Perhaps the kilt shrank?)
But the salmon sounds good.
There’s a new panaderia here that’s supposed to be really good, tarra; keep meaning to get there, but haven’t yet. I love Mexican bakeries. They’re one of my very favorite childhood memories and it makes me happy to be able to get something like Mexican baked goods around here.
Sorry about the cat party, Coyote.
What was the volunteering about, doggio?
Good thoughts for 'im indoors and having a place to live, BooFae. Have you thought about seeing if there are any Dopers nearby who might be able to help if the current lead doesn’t pan out?
Just went to the grocery for grapes and milk (and to drop off some bags in the recycling bin).
Came home to have some cold chicken and Bratkartoffeln (German hashbrowns, kinda). And a few grape tomatoes from the farmers’ market (I’ve been snacking on them like candy). And a couple of figs that were still hanging out in the fridge.
Had a pretty lazy afternoon. Big accomplishments: 1) cleaned out fridge, 2) aforementioned grocery expedition, 3) started dishwasher, 4)knit a couple more sections of the current shawl-to-be. Am enjoying a wine spritzer (the current open sauvignon blanc is actually much better as a spritzer). Back to knitting, I think.
Anyone feel like getting us started in the morning? (Or late evening, for that matter.)
Hugs.

I dunno. It fit fine ten years ago, and when I bought it back in the '80s.
Especially when you have someone hanging from one about 5 floors up…
Today was a first: class was interrupted for 45 minutes while our training apparatus responded to a motorcycle wreck.
They just don’t make kilts like they used to Johnny. A sad, sad commentary on society as a whole.
I spent about an hour and a half reading over five year budget projections, projected Diocesan giving by the church over the next five years and a proposed adjusted Priest compensation package in advance of tomorrow night’s Vestry meetin’. Tell me I don’t know how to have a good time!
I’ve spent the day straightening up this place. The Boys are having their usual weekend debate–this time it’s about aliens and UFO’s. Culinary Boy is losing because he’s trashed. I’m giggling evilly about the hangover he’ll take to eight a.m. math class tomorrow morning. I’m a bad girlfriend.
I wanted to go to the fair today, but we’ll do that next week since no one rolled out of bed before noon. It’s Sunday, we’re allowed.
Today’s fun discovery is that the fridge isn’t cooling like it should. I found out the rental company has an online maintenance submission form which I just filled out and sent. Stupidly I clicked yes on “can we use the passkey” question. I hope Katie stays in the Katie Cave tomorrow so I can just shut the door on her. She’s not on the lease yet. The food and stuff I’ll hide in the empty laundry room.
I just vacuumed the coils on that thing three weeks ago when it did the same thing. I doubt I got all of the dust out, though, judging from how nasty it was back there.
Cool space video. Expedition 23 to the International Space Station from launch to landing.
Snowbunny - if you want a challenge, vocally, look for your nearest Sweet Adelines chorus. Singing a capella harmonies in the barbershop style is so much more rewarding than standing still with a Mozart score in your hands.
Agreed on the hard bit, but…I like Mozart! And Beethoven! And Handel. Great stuff. I’ll stick with what I’ve found – besides, I can guarantee there isn’t a Sweet Adelines chorus within 150 miles, without even looking. I am a long way from anything resembling a city, or anwhere big enough to attract people crazy enough to sing a capella (
). And I like it that way! Though I am now a weenie where traffic is concerned, apparently. Three years away from interstates and towns bigger than a few thousand aside from a couple of trips her here and there will do that to you.
What is this about shrinking kilts? I likes me some kilts. Shrinking ones have potential to be even better. g
Well, it might be that the kilt didn’t shrink.

They were trying too hard to be non-chalant, but the one laying amidst the pile of catnip was a bit more chalant. What I don’t understand is why the dog looked guilty. At least they’ve all been pretty mellow tonight.
Obviously - the dog is the pusher!
Huh? I always thought potatoes were veg.
They’re from a plant, but nutritionally speaking they’re starches. Same group as pasta and cereals.
Herbs, panadería. Those are “bread stores” (from pan, bread), and we also have pastelerías (pastel = cake).
Morning all - in keeping with my first post of last week, I was reading in the newspaper that we can expect frost and snow next week. In September? In the UK? Honestly, this is getting very silly.
In other, vaguely amusing, news…my friend has been on a cruise this last couple of weeks. The boat was due to call at Rhode Island but didn’t because of the hurricane that arrived at pretty much the same time. She is furious about this, and wants a refund from the cruise company. For bad weather/act of god? She’ll be lucky!
since no one else has yet - I started the new MMP
