Sorry about the job frustration, Taters (who I sooo want to call “O.T.”)…it’s always annoying when the people trying to give you more work don’t understand your work. Grrr.
I vote for sweet potato pie, ems!
Today should be pretty quiet, which will be good. Tonight I’m playing poker with some of the guys from the dog park for the first time…it’s an interesting group.
Tomorrow will be an interesting day: I’ll be at work in the morning, for the 8:30-10:30 status meeting, but then I’ll leave around noon to change and head out to my 1:30 in-person interview (next step after Tuesday’s phone interview). I also have some landscapers coming to the house sometime after 1pm, to finally trim all of the trees at the front and side of the place. I’m hoping I get back before they’re done, in case I have any questions or see something they missed. I need to have some cleanup done in the back yard, too, but can’t afford that yet.
I’m really looking forward to having this trimming work done: I think the house’s curb appeal will increase dramatically when you can actually see the front steps (damn, guess I’ll have to clean them now!), people who visit me won’t have to dodge branches anymore (again with having to clean the front steps), and I won’t have to hear scraping on the siding/porch roof when it’s windy anymore. The difference in appearance might not be as dramatic to someone else as I’m expecting it to be to me, but I’ll take before/after pictures just in case.
It’s been a long week. Boss has been gone for most of it, and will be out tomorrow, so I get to help pick up the slack. I heart my job.
Tonight is Band Night. We finally find out what instruments the kids will be playing. Since school started, they’ve been spilt up into different groups to try out every instrument. Yesterday they made a list of their top three choices. Our son picked flute, clarinet and saxophone. Our daughter picked clarinet, trombone and saxophone. The band directors will assign them instruments based on how well they did with them in the tryouts: they’re looking for a natural aptitude. Apparently, our son did well on flute, and our daughter got the attention of people two rooms over with the clarinet. So we’ll see.
They both took strings last year, but our daughter decided she did not want to continue. Our son, however, did. So he has strings twice a week: he’s playing violin.
I made borscht last night. A thick, hearty borscht with potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and beans as well as the beets. I don’t like beans so I mashed them up so I wouldn’t see them or have to chomp on them. I’m still not a big fan of the flavor of them, but at least it’s spread throughout and not concentrated in little bites.
Sorry work sucks, Taters. Feel free to vent here whenever you need to. It definitely seems like a no win situation.
Good luck to those who are interviewing or waiting for interviews.
Thank God! I’m not a Vikings fan myself (Bengals through good and bad - mostly bad) but down here, the Saints are all I hear about. I’m so tired of it already. I hope the Vikings wipe the astroturf with them.
I called potential interview and have an interview this afternoon at three-thirty. According to her, my resume drew a lot of attention so we shall see. The job is to provide case management to homeless persons. Not sure re pay and such but hey, it’s an interview. I again, could do this in my sleep. So, appendage crossing of your choosing would be nice.
Thus dindin tonight will most likely be of the sammich variety. Fine by me cause it’s hawt out today! Summer is still at it down here in south Jawja.
I went and got coifed. The haid was lookin’ a little shabby. Also met OYKW for a quick lunch at that paragon of fine dinin’ known as Three Squares Diner. Fine, fine fancy eatin’ that!
Good luck @ 3:30, swampy! Sorry there isn’t anything out there that you’re excited about, though.
Man, all of you folks getting your hair done are making me think it might finally be time for my own upgrade. I haven’t been to a hairdresser since January of last year, but lately I’ve been thinking about going from my current side part with no bangs to a middle part with bangs (I had bangs a couple of years ago, but haven’t had a middle part in more than 20 years). At the very least, I’m in desperate need of a trim.
It is a wunnerful 76 degrees here today which is amazing. Beautiful morning when I went to get coffee. Back to mid 80’s tomorrow but hopefully no more 100+ days
I have had a busy day so far which is good. Now I must get back to my data matching project which makes my eyes cross but it must be done.
Although I am hungry…maybes I should have some lunch first…
**mmmmmmmmmmmmm **- you’re still in Paris?? I looked at your location and got confusded.
**swampy **should be waiting in reception for his interview as I write this. Hope he doesn’t embarrass us by talking about his butt!
I had to drive FCD’s car today because he needed mine. I don’t like driving his car. But I got it home in one piece, so there’s that. He just called, so I’m going to meet him at our mechanics’ shop. No idea what supper will be - something quick and easy, I hope.
Katie Kitty turned up her nose at the sardine juice I gave her. This is her second day here and I’m not Her Person, so I’ll forgive her…this time. Then she started hissing at her reflection in the stove.
There’s a place here that has half price sushi during happy hour. KT’s usually not home for happy hour times, but he worked from home today so I’ll swing home and then we’ll get over there early. Should be good.
Fingers crossed for swampy, although by this time his interview should be long over.
Well, now we know the band assignments. Looks like I’m the overly proud mom to two trombone players. Yes, they both got the same instrument. It’ll make practicing at home more fun…
Of course I didn’t talk about butt durin’ the interview. Sheesh! How uncouth. I put it on my resume like a normal person.
Turns out the job is part-time. You’d think that would have been mentioned in the job postin’. :dubious: Anywho, the interview went well. Part time means four days a week which would be ok for now. I’d keep lookin’ though. The job is funded through a Stimulus grant and would be workin’ closely with the Salvation Army which wouldn’t be too bad I guess.
Dindin for me was a pbj and some N.O.T. chips. Yeah, I reverted to childhood and it was good.
taxi half priced sushi and happy hour sounds good.
I am sooo glad tomorrow is FIRDAY! I don’t have anything planned for the weekend, although I may make a curry and I -might- make some home-made parathas to go with it.
GT, I’ve been making a somewhat better than half-hearted effort at greater portion control and cutting out sugar - the sugar portion I’ve cut back but not completely out and the portion control seems to be coming along a bit better. Also trying to eat more whole grains, less processed food. And less red meat. So it was at least a little gratifying to realize that it is making a difference! There’s just so far to go, though.
Hugs to all who need them, especially since the weekend is so close now.
