I don’t see the Jack and the Beanstalk connection.
“It’s like he fell out of the sky.” Took revenge on others for stealing his gold.
No magic beans, admittedly.
I really like Monroe, and it as cool that he actually used his professional skill (I like he kept wanting to tell them the watch’s history), but knowing about the trailer is going to (or should) have consequences.
Granted Grimm didn’t have much choice.
Some folks think there is more to fiancee than meets the eye. I’m not 100% convinced but I could see it.

Monroe is the best thing on the show.
There’s a fun interview here where they talk a little about upcoming episodes.
Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe) is really excellent. The other dude is starting to not suck so bad, but Mitchell is really the passion and guts behind the whole thing.
Monroe at least right now, is the only reason to watch. Thank god they cast him!
agree. he’s the only person that’s acting like a normal, relateable person. grimm is taking it too much in stride, not enough wtf emotion, and really just an empty shell of a character.
the asian/black cops are trying, but hamming it up a little too much (much of it is probably due to the dialogue).
i like the premise, but the execution - especially in the writing - is severely lacking.
Plus the opening quote was from Jack and the Beanstalk.
I admit, I missed the opening quote.
I think Juliet was upset because of the delayed stress reaction over having to try to kill someone on her own house. As well as all the weirdness that she’s been trying to figure out. She’s his live-in girlfriend, not his wife, IIRC, he was about to propose in the pilot episode just before he found out about being a Grimm. Frankly, I’m surprised she’s still alive and not a hostage. The writers must be saving her for something.
I can’t believe Grimm told Monroe about the trailer, instead of Hank or Juliet. Trying to explain things to Hank or Juilet would have had to have made more sense than giving a Blutbad information about something that’s a danger to his entire clan.
Wasn’t the first Hexenbiest he spots a different lady than the one that later tries to kill his aunt? That’s what I thought. And me mostly said he couldn’t identify her because he knew she was “special”, so didn’t want to tie up the legal system with things that he couldn’t prove.
As stated, he didn’t leave the girlfriend, he just moved the trailer to a secret location.
We’ve seen creatures that aren’t themselves by nature evil, like a Pig or the rodents.
He seems to be trying to manipulate the situation to get the Grimm on his side. Whatever his side is.
I don’t think the writers have a good idea of how it’s supposed to work. ![]()
The actual transformations are certainly CGI, but I suspect that for extended or action shots where the character is trnasformed, the makeup is cheaper and easier to work with. You digitally transform, then film the actor in makeup as he eats a bad guy. Or whatever. It also gives you a consistent end point to morph between.
Yeah, I’m sure that’s how they do it.
One thing I’d like to see is how Nick looks to the “creatures” since most of them can identify him as a Grimm. Either that or have Nick see another Grimm.
Juliet is getting more involved. The smart thing would be for Nick to just come clean, but that’ll never happen. Monroe is even more badass than previously thought.
This episode was largely filmed in the neighborhood I grew up in and I recognized a lot of the locations which is always cool.
I didn’t recognize Julie at first. She looked really haggard (and about 10 years older than I think of the character as being) with all that eyeliner. Not a good look for her.
And I couldn’t believe she went and looked for the truck. Who was driving the truck, BTW? A specific character we’ve seen before? I didn’t recognize the woman.
My take on it was the family taking pictures are some form of fairy tale creatures who recognized the Grimm and are taking pics to publicize where he lives to warn off other fairy tale creatures, telling them to beware, sort of. They seemed too timid to be tied in with the Reapers that messed up Monroe.
One thing I’ve noticed is that Nick always looks exactly the same and Monroe always looks a little bit different. He kind of acts different from one episode to the next, too. Maybe he’s just a very complex character.
Hank has a hard-on for known baddy Hexenbiest, Juliet would be in danger knowing this, even if she could come to terms with understanding it. Monore is really the only one he has who A) understands what is happening and B) he can mostly trust.
Nick doesn’t know Hank likes blonde monster though.
Yup. I figured it was an off-shoot from the refrigerator repairman who shared the information with his other fairy tale friends.
I think it’s even more direct than that: the repairman’s wife and kids.
So, was the opening quote from The Mouse That Roared? That’s not a fairytale…
