Yeah, plus maybe Monroe can get laid, which would be nice for him.
If Rosalee gets to actually have her shop open, that will be a good point of interface with the Wesen community.
Although I have no problem with her it seems her character isn’t well liked among the SDMB community in general. Maybe if that happened it would change her character in a way that other people would like.
Also, I’m wondering if part of the direction of the show is that Nick will start a new relationship between grimms and wesen. He has a Blutbad partner, and now a Fuchsbau (Rosalee) partner as well. And the beavers, while still scared, seem to be slowly coming around.

What’s more, I’m not convinced that the Captain would be unhappy about a detente between humans and Wesen. He thinks in terms of ruling. His ambition/fantasy when under the influence of those Coins of Zakynthos, revolved around maintenance of law and order, and his popularity with the people due to his successes. I think his goal is not only to rule, but to rule well. He’s ruthless and utterly pragmatic, but I don’t get the impression that he takes pleasure in inflicting pain or causing death.
He’s obviously at odds with other factions of the Wesen world, and in fact, members of his own family. He doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in eliminating Nick. I suspect that eventually he will seek an alliance with Nick against the more extremist elements in his own community.
This was an excellent episode, that furthered the story arc more than any since the first. I hope they keep it up.
I thought the captain had some decency until he just cast aside Adalind. Of course it was worse that her own mother did as well.
After Nick robbed her of her Hexenbiest power and she complained that now she’s just like everyone else my immediate though was, oh boo f*cking hoo. So you’re normal; Get over it. You’re still alive, you still have your job, your property and possessions. Nick didn’t take away “everything” from you.
Nick also helped/freed the GooseThatLaidTheGoldenEgg, who may live to tell the story to other wessen. It might make an interesting next season if Nick and his animal friends have to defend Nick against the other Grimms who want him dead for being too conciliatory with the wessen.
Captain Renard has been willing to break all the rules to keep his power and get more. I don’t think he has any decency, just a cover that’s useful to him.
He doesn’t have much, but I think he has a tiny shred at least.
I don’t think the Captain is good. But certain qualities we generally associate with goodness are necessary for someone to be an effective and successful leader, which is what he appears to want to be. I suspect the Captain is indifferent to morality. He takes no pleasure in cruelty, but it doesn’t especially bother him either. He does what he thinks needs to be done to further his aims, which include law and its enforcement (based on his coin-driven fantasy). The rest, such as hurting someone’s feelings, doesn’t interest him enough for him to care.
Not someone you’d want as a friend. But not necessarily a bad ruler.
Now Nick has firmly sided with the resistance. He already had the reapers after him, now he has the verrat too. I thought that when Nick met the assassin at their white flag meeting, the bad guy was going to give up the captain since the captain admitted to him that Nick doesn’t know he’s wessen. The verrat told Nick that sometimes they’re allies of convenience. The resistance guy said that the Grimms were aligned with the seven royal houses, and the captain appears to belong to one of those houses. That’s a lot of factions and groups to keep track of.
I was just reminded that the resistance guy told Nick that the verrat seek power wherever they can get it, including law enforcement. Maybe that will give Nick a clue, but probably not.
Yeah, I thought that, and how the captain responded at the end of the episode might tip Nick off, or at least make him suspicious, but I guess not.
Not yet, but we’ve got four more eps till the season finale.
Lots o’ story arc going on – it feels like they started the season not sure they were going to get a full season, let alone a renewal, so they were kind of dicking around last fall.
Loved Nick giving Ian the passport and money at the end – and I’m impressed at their ability to stage the fake murder scene so quickly in a way that would persuade the partner of their scenario.
I am digging this show, though it is not at all my usual kind of thing.
I think Ian saying that, then the captain saying “If this guy doesn’t get him someone else will”. and then Nicks little flashback thingy at the end all point to the fact that he’s getting an inkling.
And yes twicks this show is getting better and better and I’m liking it too
Another good episode. I’m liking the storyline better than beast-of-the-week.
Really though how many times can weird things happen and Nick duck out in the middle of murder investigations before his partner starts asking some serious questions?
As I type this, they are showing a marathon on SyFy. The episode on right now is the one with the homeless teens, “The Organ Grinder.”
Did your friend play Arnold?
Nick has now killed three reapers without breaking a sweat. They’re not credible bad guys if they don’t hurt Nick a little bit. Sheesh.
The dinner was kinda funny, but Nick needs to tell Juliette his secret already. That’s the most annoying part of the show right now. After the failed proposal, Nick doubles down on the lying. Arrgh.
The first one he killed wasn’t a reaper though. Looking at the Grimm Wiki He was a Hundjäger. And actually, it was the freedom fighter who killed him, not Nick.
The most annoying thing about the dinner was that the lying was so obvious. In real life if you have two people and one hims and haws and the other finishes his story, it’s blatant that they’re making shit up.
It’s a common TV device. And even though it’s a show about mythical creatures, I was a little disappointed that they didn’t try for a little more realism.
The first reaper Nick killed was in the pilot when Aunt Marie was attacked when they were out on a walk together. Nick was just learning he was a Grimm. He killed two this episode, for three total.
Oh. I thought he and his aunt were getting attacked by things like blutbads and hexenbiests, but I guess reapers makes more sense.
The two reapers clearly forgot about the Law of Conservation of Ninjustu; going at Nick at the same time meant that each one had only half of the available badassery, giving him the advantage. You know, speaking of badassery, I don’t recall Nick ever having been such a combat master before. He had it going on in this episode. I guess that the show decided to celebrate its renewal last month by splurging on a really great fight choreographer.
