Grimm

Tonight, I thought. And yeah, Whuh? they’re going straight to the coins?

I enjoyed seeing the first ep in its entirety – I’d missed the first 15 or 20 minutes the first time it played.

It’s funny to see the earliest versions of all the characters – loved Monroe coming out of the window at Nick. “You’re paying for that, dude.”

One reason I thought of was that they want to bring in his history with the death of his parents a little earlier than first time around.

That makes sense. As did the episode – though of course I was oriented in the story, dunno how newbies made out.

And on reviewing, the whole thing with Hitler as *wessen *worked even less well than it did the first time. How can a Grimm see a transformation in film? How could a camera capture a psychic transformation like that? Stupid.

Well, Hank’s last name is Griffin, and I doubt that means anything.

You might be born with it, but Adelind proves you can lose it without dying.
Juliette might not be a wessen, she might be possesed or otherwise evil. Adelind’s revenge was to take everything from Nick the way he’d taken everything from her, so perhaps Juliette will be evil enough to kill Hank and Monroe.

Count me in the hated category. Absolutely the worst sort of season finale, where they do almost nothing except set up stuff that theoretically will pay off in the season premiere.

I still like the show, but this sort of bullshit really gets on my last nerve.

And the reveal of the mystery woman being Nick’s mom was incredibly obvious from the moment she first showed up.

I’m not sure why Nick would take Juliette to the hospital in the first place. How many hexenbiest’s demon cat scratches does he think those docs have seen before? Should’ve skipped the trailer and Monroe and gone straight to Rosalie. She could’ve morphed out just like Monroe (and as a less scary vessen than him to boot) and also examined the wound, maybe figured something out faster. They took Officer Woo to her, and that wound up working out.

IIRC, Wu just happened to be there when he collapsed.

At least her being alive explains why Aunt wasn’t worried about not telling Nick he was a Grimm. She either thought Mom would show up and tell Nicky about it, or that the Grimm-abilities would not show up until his mother really died.

But now we get to wonder if their entire genetic line become Grimms when the older member die off. Juliette might be even less willing to marry Nick if their children are inescapably doomed to be Grimms.

I do, and I love it. (Just got through watching 22 episodes on On Demand. One thing, though, at the first they really sorta “butchered” the German and made me laugh. Other than I think they’re gonna run out of “biests” pretty soon, It’s an okay show, and so is “Once Upon A Time”, but I don’t like it as much and plus, I think the Snow White character may be a little old for the part.

Thanks

Quasi, there’s already a long thread about this show, so I’ve merged this post into that thread.

Thank you, Ma’am! I guess this is obvious but why isn’t Burkhart’s name Grimm after the Brothers? And just so I’m up to date, does the last episode where he meets his Mom catch me up, or are there more? I might mention too, that I like the series so much, I watched all the episodes over two days. 16 yesterday and 6 today. Holy Cow! 5 pages!!!

BTW, Burkhart looks a lot like Tom Cruise to me. Hope he isn’t a morphodike like Cruise is.

Q

I just figured Nick isn’t a male-line descendant. Though so far I think all the people who’ve written in the books (that they’ve identified by name) did have the last name of Grimm.

Nick did mention it’s his Mom/Aunt’s side of the family that are Grimms. …But Aunt Marie is listed in the imdbas Marie Kessler. Perhaps she changed her name on marriage also?

A Silas Weir Mitchell interview here.

That was the season finale, so it sounds like you’re all caught up!

I must share this: The Wesen Connection

So, season two starts in just a couple of weeks? August 13th. I’m intregued by a very early start date given there’s not much of interest to me in summer shows this year.

Oh, let’s start a new thread for season two then, huh?

Why in the world is it starting in mid August?

Did it get stealth canceled and they just want to burn off what they’d already got in the can before the fall shows start or something?

Or maybe they’re hoping that all those people who were watching the Olympics will be intrigued by the ads and tune in, while there isn’t much competition by other new shows.

Maybe network TV is starting to grasp the idea of staggered starts on new seasons, to get higher visibility in “rerun” season?
