Groening confirms Futurama movies

In this interview on The Onion AV Club, Matt Groening confirms that 4 straight-to-DVD Futurama movies will be made. Is this actually going to happen, do we think? It’s been suggested many times in recent years.

Sweet mysteria of Algeria!

Heh.

Faint praise, wot?

Billy West confirmed this a month or two ago on his website (though I can’t find a link to the story)…

Sweet cattle of seattle! Niceness. Though I had read earlier that they were doing this, but it was from ther sources, not The Man himself.

Yeah, but he’s made mistakes before. The voice actors don’t seem to know a whole lot more than the rest of us.

Billy West did make a mistake in his original announcement- he believed that the series was being picked up for a whole 22-episode season. This turned out not to be the case.

Then again, a Simpsons movie has been suggested many times, too. And since it was officially announced this March 31, many people (including myself) were skeptical if the announcement was real or an early April Fools’ joke.

The Groening interview was very interesting. And I’ve seen pictures of him before, but I must say from the photo that appears in the interview that Mr. Groening is actually a handsome fellow (and this is a man saying this!) And I’m glad he says that he thinks that people quoting Simpsons lines he meets on the street are not quoting the show, but insane, since he’s right. Most of us Simpsons fans are insane. Now let’s go back to that place where our beds and TV…is.

I thought the onion was only a satire newspaper. I didn’t know they actually interview people. Then again it would be a very cruel joke toplay on people
Well, it sounds like good news to me.

Sweet llama of the Bahamas! I had sort of given up on it, thinking Billy West was being over-optimistic, but if Matt Groening says so, it must be true.

If this turns out to be for real, I will sing and dance and scream. Maybe even cry. This is great news.

The Onion is a satire newspaper, but their “AV Club” section, in which they review entertainment and talk to entertainment personalities, is 100% serious.

Obligatory link to the indispensible Onion AVClub.

Sweet wolverine of the Philippines! (well, everyone else is doing it . . . )

Damn do I ever hope this happens . . . I was just watching old Futurama episodes tonight. Man, that is one of the best TV shows ever made.
