STARVING. Cannot wait for dinner.
Yay on the new chairs, gt! And yay on baby going to sleep in fifteen minutes, and yay on me getting dinner in the oven on time. I should find the table. Muppet’s coming tomorrow, and we’re going out for ice cream, and it will be hideous here if I don’t do some cleaning, because tomorrow is baking day, which gets pretty disorganized as it is.
And you can’t reach the couch right now because of the mattress in front of it. Sigh.
Sorry about your friend, Bobbio and about the snake, too. ::shudder::
I did not have ice cream today. Instead, there was French pizza (can’t remember the official name, but mine had baby shrimp and artichoke hearts on it) and a flight of white wines. Guess how much wine it takes to make 4 grown women giggly? 9 oz. per person. It was really quite funny, especially considering that three of them were going back to church for a prayer group meeting. That made us giggle even more.
Now I’m home and sleepy. I think I’ll give in and crawl into bed.
Yeah for sleepy Nat! I tell you LiLi- you are much more organized and productive than I was with a baby- or now for that matter! I am so impressed!
Downloaded the XM radio gadget on the new 'puter. I got my husband a satellite radio a few years ago, so we have a subscription. This is very cool! I like the Broadway channel… among others…
Note to Nava, the photos of Scotland are really nice. Regarding the photo labeled “These flowers cover the edges of lots of Scottish roads”, well they grow here as well as in the Pacific Northwest, (and other places as well!). They are Epilobium angustifolium, commonly known as rosebay willowherb in the UK and fireweed in the US, since it is a) one of the first plants to grow in a wild area which has been decimated by fire, and b) because when there is a huge batch of them covering a hillside they glow like fire when the sun sets. They are edible in the spring, and homesteaders (as well as folks like myself) combine fireweed blossoms with clovers (purple and white) to make a “honey”. It’s one of my favorite wildflowers.
OMG, I am so jealous of both Swampy and FCM - your dinners sounded delicious (especially that peach cobbler, Swampy!). Unfortunately, my dinner tonight was half a sandwich. I took a nap and by the time I woke up, it was after 8, which is a bit late to be eating. Ah well … blast it, I’m hungry so I -might- have some cereal!
Great finds on the chairs, GT - the thrifting paid off. Sounds like you’re really enjoying your vacation too–a good blend of getting some chores done but also having some fun.
kai, good luck with the WLS stuff–there are plenty of folks on SDMB who’ve had it done and will provide support. I was going to do it, but only got partially through the background stuff before I decided against it. It was just too lifechanging for me, too scary. Unfortunately, now that I’ve quit smoking it’s going to be even harder to lose weight! I may get back in the program, but will have to lose 50 lbs first. And oh yeah, stories about Kodiak in general would be fine with me … any of the wild life up there.
Two down, three to go - and this weekend is a holiday weekend!
kai first, what do you mean become cute again. It may not mean bunches comin’ from a gay man, but I think you’re already cute. So There! WRT stories, all your stories are good but well, I am partial to the bear ones.
MOOOOOOM and gotti GMTA indeed! I didn’t tell ol’ y’all know who I was makin’ beef stew tonight but what he said when he found out was that he had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for some. I am psych[del]o[/del]ic! Anywho, beef stew is also tomorrow night’s supper. The peach cobbler was tres nummy even without ice cream on it. I purposely did not buy ice cream since homemade ice cream makeage will occur this weekend. I have decided that it will be 'niller ice cream and there will be strawberries and peaches available to mix in with it as desired.
Oh and I got productive! Since tonight is not spend the night night (tomorrow is, YAY!!!) I decided to mow the front yard bein’ as it didn’t rain as much today and the yard was pretty dry. I finished that up about 8:30, right at dark then had a shower so I’m all fresh and clean. It is supposed to rain more tonight (was gettin’ all cloudy like again). If’n it does tomorrow like it did today, maybe I can sneak out about midafternoonish and mow the backyard. One of the good things Fay has done is bring some nice low to mid 80s temps for highs which is nice this time of year down here. Almost Fall like!
It’s 8:30 and I’m still at work. I’m sooooooooooo glad we had to take > an hour out in the middle of the day. I could have gone home at 7:30 instead if we hadn’t had to do that. Or maybe we would have caught the error earlier in that case and wouldn’t have been here nearly as long. Yup, still bitter. Sorry for spewing my bitterness all over the MMP. I’ll try to keep it better contained in the future. Or at least come back all sunshine and flowers tomorrow.
Today started off rocky, but ended better for me. I WENT TO WATER AEROBICS TODAY!!! (First time in about 4 years.)
Noonie, I added you on Facebook. Anyone else who would like to add me after viewing his page, I’m the girl in the orange shirt holding a ferocious dog.
taxi may TPTB that made y’all go to that party thing suffer a lifetime of nasty neverendin’ papercuts. That’s my standard curse, so I hope it works for ya.
Cool, kai! I was able to identify other plants as they grow in northern Spain as well, but not those. Love the Amurkin name and the reason for it.
My agent has asked for my hours report and bill for this month but I can’t send it in until next week. This project was offered and accepted with a fixed amount for expenses, but the person from second-subcontracting-company who negotiated that wasn’t Sheboss (the whole team except Heboss is from s-s-c, although one of them is subcontracted too), so there was some renegotiation… and since this week we’re in Spain, she tells me that there is no fixed price for this week and I have to pass expenses using s-s-c’s expense system. To which I don’t have access. And by the way, having to pass every farking ticket makes me wish I’d gotten a 5-star hotel, one of those which charge 30€ for a croissant-and-latte breakfast
Morning, everyone!
Nat, go back to sleep! Shouldn’t complain, he slept through the night again, but I’m still napping when he collapses.
Stupid furball leaked on things, so it’s laundry, then baking. And thanks, Soapy. In only in the last month or so I’ve fel;t like I can do anything useful. It’s good to be productive again.
Talked to my manager, and it looks like I won’t have to start again for a couple of weeks. More free money, no working outside home!
Foccacia, whole wheat, maybe Portugese cornbread? Ham and black pepper. Baking for the trip, to impress the inlaws. And Nat and I should buy some toys in case we get to see our new niece. That depends entirely on the mood of her mother.
**Taters **-- you too. Waiting for your confirmation. Wake up already! (whaddyamean “it’s freaking 3:30 AM here!!” :p)
**Taxi **-- I’m totally with you on worthless company “events” when you really should be working so you won’t have to pull (unpaid) overtime. Grrrr. I do enough of that already, without your “help.” Thankyouverymuch.
**Haze **-- you know people today. We demand instant gratification!
And you’re sexy whether your bitter or sunshine and flowers. So there!
**Nava **-- these situations are not new to the world. Reread “Catch 22” if you don’t believe me…
Which isn’t to say they don’t suck… And you should definitely be spending a lot of money in this case. Tell your manager you didn’t want the overhead of processing your expenses to be too high a percentage of teh expenses themselves…
{{{VBob}}}. Not much more to say when a string of tragedies like that hits. And the snake, too.
Ivory, I’m tired of working for a living, too. We really need to come up with a plan that will free us of this burden!
**Rigs **-- if you’re around reading, have a good trip, and sorry you’re in such a bad mood. Despite what you said, I think you could probably vent here without people chasing you out of the MMP, though.
I want pictures now!!! Can’t even imagine a haircut where we wouldn’t recognize you.
Sorry about Evil Assistant, doggio. I suppose there’s no way you can dump him/her and hire someone else?
Yay for Nat sleeping through the night again! And for another couple of weeks of staying home!
Ah, yes, Nava, bureaucracy can be fun, can’t it? Have you considered moving to a different hotel?
You know you’re allowed to gripe, taxi. Hope things are better today.
Go, Pie! How often are you planning to go to water aerobics?
SO, can I join in on the no-further-need-to-work plan?
I went to bed early (10ish), so I finally got a normal amount of sleep. Yay!
Tomorrow is trash day, so I’m thinking that today’s productivity (after some minor gardening tasks) is going to be cleaning the garage. Then I think I’m going to hit some more thrift stores to see if I can find 2 more chairs. And maybe get to the art gallery that I didn’t make it to yesterday. Also, I think I saw that there was a nice exhibit at one of the local libraries. Might stop there, since I’ll be in the neighborhood. And tonight I’m going to a concrete-leaf making class.
It’s supposed to rain today, which my garden would greatly appreciate.
