I’m not on Facebook. either. I don’t want people finding me. I’m antisocial.
Gooood moooorning my Mumpers!
Bobbio, isn’t wonderful how something like that phone call can just send the black clouds away?
Nooner, I can’t access Facebook at work because it’s considered a “not good” site. I’ll confirm when I get home tonight. I also look for **Pie ** and tarragon.
The only reason I have a Facebook account at all is because two of my RL friends had sent me invites to view their pictures. The only way I could view the pictures, was to join.
Well, I should do some work now. I’m only working a half day because I need to take my son in to get his classes, ASB, yearbook, pictures, etc., i.e, spend money.
I’ll try to pop in later.
Blurf.
I is SORE. I needed some supplies from Crappy Tire yesterday, and figured I’d do some hill training while I was at it… so I took a 6km mostly-uphill stroll to the store, the effects of which I am most definitely feeling this morning. I also managed to give myself two giant blisters from my hiking shoes, which are supposed to be broken in but seem to have forgotten that.
I guess I’ll need to start really kicking my butt into gear. There’s just a week and a half to go before the big weekend, and I’m going to be complete dog meat by end of Day 1 at this rate.
Gorgeous photos, Nava. I’m going to have to add Scotland to my list of places to visit someday soon.
{{Bob}} It sounds like you got good news just when you needed it. I’m sorry for all the suckiness that preceded it, though.
OK, off to finish some painting in the bedroom, maybe make a cake, and then scoot over to meet **LiLi **and Gnat for ice cream.
PM if you want my contact info for Facebook! I’d love to play!
Morning, all. Sounds like things are the usual up and down around here.
No Facebook for me – the last thing I need is something else to [del]waste[/del] spend time with online!
Yay for doing good, Bobbio. And clearly the fates were delivering that call to you at a time when you needed it most.
Yay for water aerobics and possibly major corporation lunches, Pie!
I know there’s other hugs/yays/boos/awws to be delivered, but my failing memory can only hang onto so much at one time, so you know who you are. Back to work for me, alas. I think I need to have tattooed across my forehead: “I’d rather be knitting!” That’s how I feel about work today.
I can avoid that accident in the future by having a handsome burly butler wearin’ a leather jockstrap bring me my coffee so I don’t carry it while commuting. Howzat?
I wonder if my writing handsome burly butler wearin’ a leather jockstrap will make ol’ donkeybear show up. He seems to sense these things.
I’s hongry so Ima go make a sammich and eat it. Then, back to work.
Hi, all!
Have a good trip, rigs!
bobbio, glad you got some good news for a change.
I am not on facebook either. I’m like boofae and spend enough time on Teh Internet as it is.
We had a wonderful time with old friend I haven’t seen in 30 years. Lots of reminiscing and laughs.
I am looking forward to a three-day weekend even if it means that “somebody” is gonna be older than dirt the day after.
Tupug
Thanks for the sympathy last night. I’m still grumpy today, but it’s ok - most of my coworkers seem tired and grumpy as well so we’re all just sort of doing our work and avoiding too much contact.
Sorry for the sucky week, bobbio, but yay for the call that went so well.
{{rigs}}
I’m not on Facebook either. I’ve got email and my blog and the MMP. Why would I need anything else?
Good luck getting Evil Assistant to show up so you can fire him, doggio.
Your stay-cation sounds like a good balance of accomplishment and fun, gt!
Gotta run to a meeting!
Me too.
Work today is boring. Sometimes it’s annoying to be efficent.
<flipping through the official Work From Home guidelines>
Nope. Nothing in there about elbows and coffee cups. We’ll need to convene a committee to investigate this issue and develop recommendations for review by executive management.
But, they do specify that I am to: “Properly label all electrical circuits. Learn how to change fuses safely. Keep the path to the fuse box clear and accessible.” Seems a bit of overkill, especially since we don’t have any fuses at home, and I don’t need to be concerned with changing fuses or resetting circuit breakers while at the office.
I can only assume that somewhere in the history of people working from home for this company, somebody had electrical problems and either got fried or sat on their hands all day long while waiting for an electrician to come and flip the right breaker back on.
Dunno about him, but I sense these things as well, and have the appropriate wardrobe.
Evening all. I have no hope of catching up! Sigh … Work is ridiculously quiet, so I left at 3:30pm today! Then spent the afternoon chasing HRH around the house (just because it makes her giggle, and that sound is a panacea for all ills, I tell you!).
Nooner, I sent you a friend request on Facebook.
herbs, I searched for tarragon918, but it found no results! Should I be searching for an email address???
Okay, time to go forage. Hugs, yays, boos, etc. thrown in a generous heap in the corner - help yo’selves!!!
Mr. Lissar’s on Facebook, but he’s got the antisocial thing going, too, and practically never talks to anyone on it.
Given that I plan on eating creme brulee ice cream in an hour, should I also eat peanut butter cups? Yes, I think I should.
How’s HRH, Dotty?
Why is it that despite my best attempts to be productive this week, I keep getting sucked into the CSI marathon that is Spike TV? AARGH.
On the bright side, I did end up baking a plum and almond cake, which is now happily cooling in the cat-safe storage box (aka the microwave). I also managed to touch up the ceiling in two rooms, but will have to leave the remaining touch-up work for later today, assuming I get home at a reasonable hour.
Other to-dos for today:
- clean kitchen
- pay bills
- update blog
- trim both cats’ claws
Optional:
- finish sewing project #1 (a button-down camisole)
- start sewing project #2 (a pleated skirt)
- start dealing with the weed patch… errr… backyard
In the meantime, I’ve got a date with a Mumper, a baby, and a cone. Ice cream, here I come!
Dotty - I don’t know why it’s not coming up with anything (and I definitely can’t get to facebook from work, so can’t check it myself), so try my email of tarragon918@yahoo.com. laughs I can’t remember if I put my real name in there! I probably didn’t. Yay for giggles from HRH, btw.
Found you tarra! Friend request sent!
LiLi, HRH is doing really well, despite the fact that she tried to smack herself unconscious on the car door the other day - I had her on my left hip and was turning into the car to drop my bag in the front before I took her around to her seat. Just as I turned in, she threw her head back and gouged her right cheek along the top corner of the car door! She was so shocked, it took a good 10 seconds before she started wailing! She had a bruised cheek for about 4 days, but I was just relieved that she didn’t lose her eye - the bruise was only an inch below her right eye! Anyhoo, this pic is from last month. I need to upload the new ones - maybe this weekend!
Hubby had to go booze shopping today. Ramadan will start next Monday at the latest (maybe Sunday), so we have to stockpile now to get us through the dry month!!! Gah - another “holy month” is upon us, filled with people sitting around the office pretending to work while they doze and dream of gluttony, and evenings of food excesses and bad, melodramatic Arabic TV series!
Why, yes, Bobbio, I do have a safety-obsessed employer (not that there’s anything wrong with that; I’d much rather have safety-obsessed than safety-oblivious). That line was straight from our safety training, which should be coming up again soon, because I think it’s been 2 years by now. And swampy, I knew you’d have a witty reply to that question. Hee.
I have a Facebook account that I’ve only used to read a couple pages. I can’t keep up with boards and LJ and e-mail as it is, so I’m abstaining for the moment…
Isn’t chasing little kids a hoot? My brother used to chase my niece and nephew in endless circles when they were little. So did I for that matter.
Well…I haven’t made it to the garage yet, but I did go out to drop off dry cleaning (way overdue; meant to do that on Monday, but…didn’t get there), then to buy the Columbus guidebook that I didn’t get the other day, then to the American Cancer Society thrift store (very nice stuff, but also much higher prices than others) and to the Pepperidge Farm outlet, which had some very nice deals.
I’ve also made some white rice (part one of NOL), just baked a couple of cherry turnovers (from Pepperidge Farm, they are dessert - yum), and have Puerto Rican spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove (it’s Puerto Rican because: I added 1 - sazón, a flavoring mixture that you add to pretty much anything savory, and 2 - recaito, a mixture of finely chopped onions, cilantro and other herbs, and peppers; also it has less tomato sauce and will be served with a side of steamed plantains). And I vacuumed. Yes, I’m trying to convince myself that I’ve been productive.
Now that I’ve lunched, I’ll head out to the garage for a bit. Then I think that gallery is calling. And then I think I’ll go sit at the neighborhood coffee house and people watch and update my to-do list for this week.
Back after a while.
GT
Hello GT - just passing through and thought I would suggest the German Village in Columbus. I have never been but my parents have stopped by while road trippen and they liked the food and ambiance.
Regarding things to do… looks like a free play might be fun - http://www.theactorstheatre.org/ Cyrano de Bergerac - starts tomorrow night. Admission free but donations are accepted.
Don’t forget Oktoberfest starts Sept 5th… (the internet is fun…germanvillage.org)
I have never stopped in Columbus but have been through many times. A short time ago (1993) I was living in St Louis pining away for Prof Soapy who was in Pittsburgh finishing her degree. So I drove the Grey Ghost down between STL and PGH every 3 or 4 weeks. I viewed Columbus as the Gateway to Civilization…west of Columbus …one giant flat farm for 450 miles… east of Columbus … hills become mountains and once you leave West Va you are officially on the East Coast.
Have fun…sounds like you are being way too productive…
Well, safety oblivious means more excitement for me.
Oktoberfest in SEPTEMBER? Are the organizers Polish, not German?
