Guess I'll start the MMP

Oh, I believe this is number three.
:dubious:

I used Peychaud’s bitters instead of the traditional Angostura bitters. It’s a bit more floral/herbal than Angostura, which seems a bit more spicy.

Taking the kiddos Christmas shopping for Romeo tonight and then probably to IHOP for dinner, since kids eat free on weeknights. Here’s hoping they behave.

Howdy Y’all! I managed not to forget not to go to the doctor. As I was leavin’ da cave my phone calendar thingy reminded me that I have an appointment in forty-five minutes. I walked in twenty minutes early and signed in. I had not even sat down when I got called back. I was out of there fifteen minutes later. Thus, I was through with my appointment five minutes before the appointment time. I was feelin’ hungry so I treated myself to DQ for an early N.O.L. I even managed to somewhat spiff up da cave. Sup got made and et as well. All in all, not a bad day.

{{{doggio}}} so sorry about your friend.

flipper ::tacklehug:: Mailed my house taxes off this mornin’.

sari glad stuff seems to be gettin’ put right. Hyoomans are annoyin’.

Nuts yay for [sup]tiny[/sup] plants!

I don’t use yard bins at all, I’m not even sure they have them up here. I just buy yard waste bags.
I don’t really want two recycle bins as many weeks we don’t even put it out. However, I live in an area that is still in the dark ages of recycling and if it is not in the bin the recyclers won’t take it. When I lived in the armpit if you put out cardboard boxes the recycle truck would take it. They would also take yard waste in regular trash bags if you taped an X to the side of the bag.

Congrats in the tiny plants Nut!

Unfortunately, I kill plants that people tell me are indestructable.

MetalMouse - I am sure there will be another bill. I have very little faith in what they do.

Be safe Flytrap.
Nothing wrong with being well armed.

I am saving the mortgage company and appraiser for tomorrow.
Two phone calls in one day is two too many.

Nut, good on tiny plants; howsever, iffn they didn’t work, I woulda helped you out.

I would say I’m 99% certain to be offered the job. So I guess I’m moving to San Diego.

San Diego is not a bad place to live, weather wise. I don’t usually get cold, but today I am chilly. I need my electric bankie and my Kitteh on my lap.

Juliet, I’m curious about the gin that you sampled. I enjoy good gin, but not all gin. :stuck_out_tongue:

doggio, I’m sorry for the loss of your friend.

nut, yay for tinyplants!

Irked, came home, vaccuumed and have laundry in both the washer and dryer. Other than that, I’m addressing holiday cards tonight. The list is getting shorter with some of my parents’ generation dieing off. Regardless, I still mail around thirty and hand out about twenty at irk.

My three days off were spent working. I had cookies to make for a Daughters of the King exchange Saturday morning. Much of the rest of Fri-Sunday was spent making 12 dozen cookes and two big decorate sheetcakes for the birthday party of a friend at church. Also at church, for the Sunday mornign Adult forum hosted by myself and another gal, we did baking traditions of Christmas. My contributions were a fruitcake, a German stollen, and a Japanese Christmas cake. You really ought to Google the latter, it’s a simple layered sponge cake with whipped cream and strawberries in between the layers, and the outside frosted with more whipped cream and decorated with strawberries.

By the time all was said and done Sunday afternooned I was wiped out.

I had a twelve hour workday today to top it all off. This girl is tired, but I have to go walk the dog. Mauser will make even more work for me if I don’t.

I just heard that my niece got the job she wanted. I’m so happy for her.

Yay for niece, yay for interview, yay for quick doctor appt, yay for full larder and gas tank, yay for two phone calls done and yay for good gin, baked goods, warm cats, and tiny plants.

Welcome back Flipper. Rosie’s sig

The most vile drink I ever had was sloe gin.

I’m not a big drinker, so I know little about alcohol.

I do know enough to stay away from Mad Dog, and that peppermint schnapps and ouzo taste horrible.

I’m curious about the gin too. :stuck_out_tongue:

So the other thing stressing me out

I really really like my neighbor on the other side of the duplex. But I am also really upset and I need to talk to her, but I don’t want to upset her, but she really needs to replace the missing window.

As y’all know, my house is very old and has been modified and updated many times.

For whatever reason, her house goes back further than mine, I guess about 3 or 4 feet further. My powder room door is even with my outside kitchen wall and the back wall of my powder room is even with her back wall. So i have that tiny space that juts out and then the rest is my back porch.
My upstairs back bed room used to be the back end of the house. Somewhere in time, a walkin closet was added to the back bedroom. The bathroom window was closed off and made into a cabinet. One wall of the closet is what used to be the outside wall of the house. The closet extends the width of the bedroom and bathroom, and makes the roof over the porch. It extends out a little bit further over the powder room and there is a window that looks out over the back yard. There is another window on the outside, but no corresponding window in the inside. I think it was covered up so there is more wall space for the shelving in the closet.

Anyway, this is the closet where the squirrels come in. I usually keep the door closed because the closet is hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and it’s a closet. I only have a few things in there and about the only time I go in there is to see if the squirrels have chewed their way in again. I had been leaving the door open when the weather was nice hoping that having the litter box up there would scare the squirrels away.

So while we were up there while my son was fixing the squirrel hole he mentioned that is is really cold in the closet and he can feel a draft coming from the other side. I said I think it is from the window and that is why I keep the door closed.

It’s not the window.

One of the things from many years ago is that there was a doorway from my closet into my neighbor’s back bedroom. It was closed off when they sold the house, and when they said they replaced the wall, I thought they meant a real wall.
Well no, it’s a piece of plywood nailed up and painted over to look like the rest of the closet, and now it has either shrunk or shifted or pulled away from the wall and there is a gap through which you can see into the neighbor’s bedroom.
Since we still had most of a can of great stuff left, I told him to fill the gap. He told me it was a small gap. I didn’t go look at it but he told me today that it is more like a two inch gap.
This is her room that has no window. Probably where the bat came through, and it is probably the exposure to heat and cold that has shrunk, warped, or whatever the hell was done to the wood to make the gap. The gap sure wasn’t there when I bought the house.

The window needs to be replaced. I need to get somebody in to fix the wall, which I am not too happy about. Who knows what it is going to cost?
I am not happy about this at all. I feel like the seller ripped me off by doing shoddy work, but I also feel like if there was a window instead of a gaping hole in her back bedroom there wouldn’t be the temperature extremes.

I’m not happy at all.

ah here it has ot be in the bin and sorted … cause they use the yard waste to make mulch for sale and make money off the other stuff or used to anyways
ahh mad dog (or t-bird) and Kool-Aid mixed …my misspent jr high years …… and with the meds I took back then …. no wonder my livers shot to hell these days well ok moving up to better booze in hs didn’t help much either ….

I had some codeine cough syrup that tasted like gin.

Got yelled at by some lady for no good reason. Welcome to Retail Christmas.

Thanks on the condolences.

Congrats!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 46 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 59 and N.O.S. for the day. This is more typical weather for this time of year in these parts. Today I shall spiff up da cave a little more and do laundry. Rah. We shall sup upon chikin enchiladas (OLÉ!) made from the leftover rotissed chikin along with beans and rice. Fart fest to follow.

roadrunner sounds like an excellent job interview. Shall we keep appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the job offer?

sari I wonder if whatever local code enforcement agency you have could address the window problem with the neighbor. Seems to me that would be a thing they would want to see fixed post haste.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Okay, I’ll try to kick off Tuesday.
A niece is lying in hospital a few hundred miles away undergoing induced labor. It turned out last night that she reacted abnormally to penicillin, as the report says. Hoping she and the baby are okay.
Also hoping to see the insurance guy today about buying a Medicare supplement and Part D coverage. (Not to say I like the idea very much, but you likely understand.)
On to the daylight, coming up in an hour or so!
