Guest MMP - Still missing Rue and stuff

Today was my last throwing day this session. Naturally, I’m referring to my ceramics class. I threw 3 pieces, including a BIG bowl and 2 vase-like things, trimmed 3 of the pieces I made last week, and killed one piece - the bottom was too thin and I broke right through it as I was trying to even it. So I tossed it. It wasn’t a particularly nice work anyway - no big loss.

No class next week, due to the Turkey weekend, but on the 3rd of Dec, we’ll glaze the stuff that has been fired, plus trim the things we threw today. And on Dec 10, we’ll glaze our last pieces. This session, I’ve done 17 assorted things. Last session, I only managed 8, so at the very least, I’ve learned to be faster at it.

And, because I have a bunch of ceramic stuff, I’ve decided I’m going to give a piece or two to a MMPer or two. I can’t be more specific because I don’t know who in my family is getting what, but at least one, and possibly 2 things will go to lucky Doper(s). Details will follow eventually. Kissing up won’t help, as far as you know.

Fercryinoutloud - git a room!!!
:stuck_out_tongue:

Well, that’s a relief!

MMMMMMMMMWHAAAAAA!

Cripes, I can’t even kiss up right, dang screwed up coding! :o :smack:

Ya know, Swampy, I read your post about extracting butt poundage aloud to the hubby and he giggled and said, “Well, that could be construed another way.”

Has anybody heard from picunurse about how her husband is doing?

In completely unrelated news, have I mentioned that Columbus has a number of unique chocolatiers? And also that I am an expert at locating all different types of chocolate? Just sayin’.

Well, pooh. We were going to go to a lovely brunch tomorrow at a little marina on a small creek. We’d gone once before and the food was quite good, and a good value. Unfortunately, I guess they’re too far out in the boonies, so they’ve discontinued brunch. Rats.

Instead, we’re going to a breakfast buffet in a restaurant that sits on a pier over the Patuxent River. It’s a beautiful location, which accounts for the $14/person cost. What the heck - it’s only money, right? And I won’t have to do the dishes afterwards.

I just finished making fudge. Except I fudged and used the box kit that comes from Costco. I made one pound with nuts and one without nuts. I don’t like nuts in my chocolate.

I posted a request over in Cafe Society for some help with appetizer ideas. I wanted something new, something that didn’t require cooking or heating when I arrived at my sister’s place, and something unique. It’s nice to know I can count on ideas here. Two recipes were posted that I shall be making. They look good, and one is very unusual, but looks extremely tasty.

…and now for something completely different. Mr. Taters has decided he wants to have a BIG shindig here the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We’re talking lotso people. Guess I’ll spend all week getting the place gussied up. I usually kinda enjoy hosting these kinds of things, but I’m just not feeling it, you know what I mean? I’d prefer to have a smaller, more intimate gathering. Just a few couples, not tons of people crawling all over my house.

Ah well, I know we’ll have fun, I just hate the prep part. Uusually, this means me busting my tail getting the place “company” clean. My carpets are in dire need of a steamcleaning too.

Well, on to the next chore.

We had a visit from the electrician today! We are no longer living in the dark ages. When we flip a switch, we HAVE LIGHT!!! I’m a happy camper.

Y’all weren’t alone at snerking at the “butt poundage” comment…

We went grocery shopping and I got a 20 pounder for free—that’s for Xmas. The extra 12 pounder is for Thanksgiving since we’re only having 6 people. Xmas is more like 12 people…

I’m looking forward to my favorite turkley leftover - Turkey Tetrazinni.

(Wishing picunurse would check in…)

I love McDonald’s so much. I go in, stand at the counter, and the person behind the counter ignores me, and snarks at her cow-orker, that she “can’t just stand here and do nothing! Go into the lobby and check the trash or something! Jeez!”.

I then get helped. I want a Big n Tasty EVM. “Would you like cheese on that?” “No, I wouldn’t. (especially not for 30 cents.) However, I would like a large drink.” “Would you like the large fries as well?” “No, I wouldn’t.”

So, I get home. I have a sandwich with cheese, and half-empty large fries. I had assumed that they had run out of medium boxes, and so filled up a large box halfway? No, they just got my order wrong.

Hey guys, sorry about missing this week. I had one client that had a rush thingy on Monday and that took me most of the first part of the week. And I’ve not been feeling well – I think I’m catching a cold. I feel achey (ache-y? however that’s spelled) and generally fluish. Anyway, I just sat here for an hour plus reading the entire thread.

I hope picunurse & hubby are doing better.

Random comments (you get to decide to whom the comments are directed):

I made the poor decision to google pyometra – and then I clicked for google Images! Will I never learn?

Beano does not work. Trust me.

Nor does benzoyl peroxide (for a boil). Hie thee to a doc, stat!

I don’t care much for turkey; I tend to also just eat all the trimmings.

I don’t watch Lost. Nor do I watch any TV that I can’t get through Netflix.

I’m cold. Time to lay down and try to get warm, and try to catch up on reading.

The Snakes won!!!

Our first home game in nearly a month. It was a nail-biter - no score in the first, and at the end of the second period it was 3-0 in favor of the other team (Pee Dee Cyclones). Things were not looking good. Our guys came out in the third and scored 3 goals (two of them 20 seconds apart), so we were tied at the end of regulation play. Into 5 minute overtime - no score despite us taking a 2 minute penalty. We won in the shootout!

Tonight was Military Appreciation Night, and we had a LOT of Fort Benning soldiers on hand. The team was wearing special red-white-blue jerseys, which were auctioned off after the game. I didn’t get one, damnit - they all went for more than my $300 limit.

And I finished the wall! Took a picture of it to the game to show some friends, and everyone was suitably impressed. I’m proud of it - looks really good for a first effort.

We have another game tomorrow at 4, so I will have had my hockey fix for this weekend. Then one on Thanksgiving night, and another on Friday. I’m so glad hockey season is here!

“Butt-poundage” >>snerk<< ::heeheehee::

Oh, what an exciting day I have in store! After my sweetie and I go to breakfast, we’re going to a craft fair and bazaar at a nearby Catholic school. Then we’ll come home and I’ll do laundry, bake some punkin’ pies, iron, and maybe make a big ol’ pot o’ veggie soup for lunches this week.

Try not to envy me, for I know how you all look to me for inspiration and guidance and crap like that.

[li]Breakfast: Too late; can’t go out because I ate already. But I’ve got a dinner invitation. I’m sure that was inspired by you.[/li][li]Craft fair: not really. Clean up craft stuff instead.[/li][li]Laundry: In the washer and dryer right now. Also running the dishwasher.[/li][li]Baking: Not today, but later in the week, I get to make my sweet potato with orange and pecan stuff, stuffing and cranberry sauce. Turkey etc. to be provided by local best friend.[/li][li]Veggie soup: that was last week. This week it’s going to be red cabbage and cottage cheese dumplings. Haven’t made them in a long time.[/li][/ol] I’m not awake yet, so I’m grateful for the inspiration provided by FCM.

I’m going to a Crafternoon Tea at a local church before I head off to work. First I’ve got to do some chores, and before that I’ve got to wake up by drinking huge amounts of tea.

I slept really late, with one of those “series of totally unprofitable and exhausting dreams, but can’t force myself awake” things. The first one I can’t remember, in the second I think I was an elf in Ancient Greece doing a lot of archery, and in the third my Mom and I were being chased by some weird government organization through a mall populated by spies made out ofg shredded wheat.

It was a relief to get up, but I feel pretty out of it.

Happy American Thanksgiving, all!

supervenusfreak came home from his morning shift, woke me up, and we went to Old Country Buffet for breakfast. Y’know, back when I first encountered OCB, it seemed like the greatest thing since sliced bread. But since then, all manner of AYCE buffets have popped up and OCB kind of fades in comparison…not all that much selection, very small serving area, and NO CORNED BEEF HASH! Um, sorry…tried to control that.

Afterward we went to Circuit City in the same shopping center and bought supervenusfreak’s brother a 27" TV for Christmas. They’re delivering it on Tuesday. Then we went to Weis and got groceries and came home. Now I’m changed into my lounging-about-the-house clothes and getting ready to spend the afternoon being an orc shaman. FOR THE HORDE!

What southern Maryland needs is a good breakfast restaurant that isn’t a chain. There’s always a line at Bob Evans and IHOP because there really isn’t much in the way of options. The restaurant on the pier was closed for renovation - drat! But we found out that a reataurant at one of the nicer marinas had a brunch - so we decided to try it.

I had eggs benedict with lump crab and a cup of tea. FCD had french toast, eggs, bacon, and iced tea. The tab was $32!!! And while the food was good, it wasn’t that good. Plus mine wasn’t very hot. Needless to say, we shan’t return there.

I swear, if I was inclined to go into the restaurant business, I’d open a really good breakfast place around here.

We also ran by our boat, ran the engine for a bit, and fixed the mainsail - we had it rigged incorrectly, but now it’s good. And we were talking to our dock buddy, Ben. He asked about the for sale sign on the boat and FCD told him why we were selling it. Then he said he wanted a bigger boat but I wouldn’t let him get one. Ben said if he was me, he’d let FCD get a bigger boat, to which FCD replied “I’d be willing to go gay for a bigger boat.” Ben wasn’t sure what to say to that one…

So, the first load of laundry is in the machine, and I’m about to build some pumpkin pies. Actually, one pie, and one filling to go in the freezer for a later pie. Then as the laundry gets done, I’ll iron.

Party on. woohoo.

Isn’t that taking roleplaying a bit far? I’d be creeped out if my partner were an orc in the bedroom.

Depends on what you find attractive…

At this point, I’d honestly take almost anythng in the bedroom.

Better than nuthin’.
