Guilty food pleasures

…for breakfast.

Substitute, or add, some finely minced pimento or roasted red pepper, some cream cheese, and you have pimento cheese, and yes, it is one of the best things you can possibly eat. I made a big batch once and to my regret, ate most of it in one sitting.

Toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches. I could eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If I’m feeling particularly lavish, I’ll have some ham with the cheese and tomato.

Mrs. L.A. made Lipton onion soup dip a week ago. I’d forgotten, and she finished it off last night. I could really go through that, given the chance.

My sausage gravy and biscuits. I only make it once a year now, because it’s fairly lethal and I don’t tolerate milk very well. We just finished off this year’s batch on homemade buttermilk biscuits (best I’ve ever made, I think). Oh the joy and pain! That will hold me for the next 364 days.

Macaroni and butter. That’s it. Boil up a large bunch of macaroni noodles, drain, toss it with a significant amount of butter and salt. It’s a memory from my childhood and I will stuff myself with it, given the opportunity.

Mine would be from the ice cream group. Especially the chocolate ice cream group. Like Rocky Road, or Chocolate Peanut Butter, or Chocolate Moose Tracks, or Tin Roof Sundae with chocolate sauce…

ooops - pardon my drool…

Tuna and rice. Basically a very simple tuna casserole but with rice instead of pasta, and it doesn’t get baked. I use light tuna, 98%-fat-free cream of mushroom soup, and 2% milk, but it’s the rice that makes it so bad for me. But it’s sooooo good. My mom used to make it for her and me (my dad and brother never liked it), then I started making it for myself in high school. 30 years later it’s still one of my favorite comfort/guilty foods. In fact, I have a cold right now and might just use that as an excuse to make some tonight…

…and I will also pick up a pint of Haagen Dazs rocky road on my way home. Thanks for the reminder.

Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches. So much fatty goodness.

I dunno. I love peanut butter and bacon both, but putting the two together in a sandwich sounds … unappealing.

Peanut butter and mayo sandwiches. I’m one of a very select few that know the joy.

Just noticed the PB and bacon comment. I can totally dig it. I like chunky peanut butter on a fried hotdog, with some sriracha on top. Seriously good stuff.

Peanut butter and potato chip sandwiches! Ummm, I can get behind those.

Also, unbuttered popcorn mixed into yogurt. Mmmm!

Hot wings, particularly the ones from Costco. Lots of good quality bleu cheese dressing for dunkin. French fries on the side and a giant margarita to wash it down.

As reminded in a thread in another forum here… mall ‘cajun’ food is a tremendous guilty pleasure.

Bread dipped in hot bacon fat.

I assume you’re leaving it in there and frying it until it’s crispy right? If not, you should be

Some of us don’t have that kind of self restraint.

Fried macaroni. Boil a pound od elbow macaroni and drain well. While it’s draining, cut up a package of bacon and an onion and fry them up together. When the bacon’s done, toss the macaroni in and salt & pepper to taste. Fry till the macaroni is golden brown, stirring often. I don’t fix it often but ohmygawd how I love it. I’ll eat off it for days.

I also love fried bologna sandwiches with American cheese melted on it, on toast with mayo.
