Gun question in GQ

Exactly, and on top of that it was a loaded question, he basically asked if he’ll be confronted at the airport when he takes his glock to NYC. Sounds like he went looking for trouble in that thread just so he could flash his “piece”.

Are you fucking serious? He was a cop. I’m pretty sure he’s got “piece flashing” out of his system.

Well, it’s better than indulging his electronics hobby during the flight.

I once got in some serious trouble for breaking out a battery operated wood burning kit and making some signage in business class.

Of course you got in trouble. You’re supposed to do that in wood shop.

What a pile of bollocks. He asked a reasonable question, and got a bunch of soapboxing bullshit (such as your post) basically trying to vilify him. A fair post in GQ, and some good moderating to try to keep it on topic.

Sign making goes in working class.

Because I find it an interesting topic of discussion. Certainly pkbites can answer me or not as he sees fit. Why are you being so defensive on his behalf?

It was a stealth brag about his glock and he mounted his own soapbox about ccw laws in NY. Now you’re building your own slippery slope of bullshit.

Didn’t seem like a stealth brag to me. I am betting you are just a little touchy on the subject.

Yes, a moron on the internet.

Good OP.

I actually had a spin-off question about the following assertion in the thread:

Once I realized I was in GQ, I started another GQ thread so as not to hijack.

I asked because you seem like you may be using the “necessity concept” I mentioned above. I still think you may be in that mindset whether you want to own up to it or not.

Agreed. Am I supposed to be impressed that someone owns a glock? He’d have to be some sad creature to “brag” about owning something worth $500

Cute!

You do realize don’t you that McMurphy and Chief were the only sane one’s in the asylum?

Dr. Spivey seemed pretty sane…henpecked, but sane

Yup, and it is THREAD SHITTING and should be wacked down with the strongest Moderation available. Everyone involved has been on this board long enough to know that shit ain’t allowed and isn’t good form.

Don’t be so hard on yourself.

It did just a touch to me, because as a gun owner there is no way that I would ever be able to consider even so much as stopping in NYC with a gun in my trunk without risking arrest, yet he has the right to carry it about casually. I suppose it’s a bit of envy that he’s not necessarily as responsible for knowing the laws as I am as a private citizen or subject to such a patchwork of often absurd laws.

Let’s see that stealth brag/soapbox again, shall we:

“I’ve traveled all over the country and had no problems bringing my pistol. But most places do not have a hard-on towards handguns like New York City does. The last time I was in NYC was before HR218 was law so I didn’t have a sidearm with me.”

Care to point out which part is the bragging there? Or maybe just why he is wrong to point out that New York has very strict gun laws?

It was a completely valid OP. If it hadn’t been, then a moderator would have jumped on it. Instead, as you may have noticed, the moderator felt obliged to tell various people to stop accusing the OP of such items as you claim above. Of course, that’s may not stop you from reading it as a rabid piece of gun lobby soapboxing, but that’s your problem.
