Blurf. I have to put together the dish I’m bringing for today’s work potluck. And later this week, we have an offsite “innovation meeting”. I can’t express how excited I am about that.
Caffeinated, have to get sheveled.
Happy Tuesday.

Checked and responded via e-mail last night. And as for the rest ----- are you sure about that? Did you look to see that no-one was tied up between the target and the berm? Technically you may not have been shooting at the people but in rural PA these days ---------- ![]()
Went to Don’s for breakfast/dinner and plan on doing some sanding. Since I knew I was going to be sanding and would have to change shirts and shampoo my face before work I had a Wet Judy. Messy (you cannot eat one in your church clothes) but well worth it.
You recall the last time the boss scheduled a staff meeting, the topic of his email was Emu Farming? Well, we had another meeting today. Topic: World Domination.
Among other things, I found out we’re bidding on a metric buttload of work, and if even half of it comes it, it’ll be busy busy busy!! Also found out a coworker is leaving on Sep 1 - she got a govvie job. And according to FCD, the company is losing a lot of electrical engineers to the base. If you know any EE who’d like to work in Southern Merrylande, message me and I’ll provide info.
Morning went fast - expecting the afternoon to do the same.
I have washed, dried, folded, and put away three loads of laundry. I even gasp ironed shirts! gasp I say that’s enough domesticity for the day except for gettin’ dindin together when the time comes.
Up, fed and more or less coherent. Outside of that nothing much accomplished today.
You want to know something that is annoying?
I got these visa gift cards that expire in October. I want to use them to pay on a bill, and the bill doesn’t accept debit cards. Many of the bills I pay won’t accept debit cards.
First world problems.
Up and listening to loud dogs wrestle in the house. It keeps them busy, but boy do I wish they could do it without barking.
Today I have to register the kids for school. They are ecstatic. Over the moon I tell ya.
I hate for summer to be over.
I am :mad:er than Hell!
I had an interview today. It was scheduled thru a third-party / headhunter. My resume was submitted sometime early last week & I got a call/email late Friday afternoon asking me if I was available for an in-person interview first thing this morning. Confirmed it yesterday morning, all’s good, right?
Show up on time (actually a few mins early) check in w/ reception, sit & wait. Eventually security walks over to me with a note to call the interviewer at ____. He’s working remote today; doesn’t have it on his calendar. Ummmm, okaaay. I check my emails; yup; I have it correct. Don’t know why he doesn’t have something that was supposedly a time chosen by, & then confirmed by them.
End up doing it as a phone interview this afternoon.
Interviewer: Tell me about your experience with ____. (which was listed as one of the ‘nice-to-haves’ on the job description.)
Me: Ummm, I tangentially worked with it a bit but that’s about it.
Interviewer: It’s listed here on your resume
Me: Ummm, it is? ::searches resume:: No, it’s not on my resume.
After the interview I call the headhunter back - Oh, we added that to make you look better. WTF?!?!

I end up calling the interviewer back & have to basically say, “They did a whole lotta stuff wrong. You probably heard it in my voice when you asked about skills on my resume that I didn’t put there. That’s not the way I am. Please don’t hold their screw-ups & exaggerations against me.”

Holy crap! That headhunter needs to be drop-kicked a few times! I assume you won’t be dealing with him any longer.
Eons ago, I went to an agency for help getting a job and I listened to the guy trying to set up an appointment for me - I could not believe the BS he was spewing! I didn’t bother going to the interview and I never dealt with that agent again. What a waste of a human being he was.
spidey, never had to deal with a headhunter in my career, and am glad I didn’t…I’m a non-violent type, but in that case I might make an exception.
Went and voted in the Ali-bama Senator primary. Voted for the Democrat that seemed most qualified (not that’s he going to qualify for the run-off), now sit back and see which of the three yokels makes it to the final round.
Dry day so I hope they open the soccer fields for practice with the kids, but they haven’t changed the status yet. I want to try out my new red wagon!
Home - we had a toad-soaker here at the house, but while I was driving home, it was all blue skies and sunshine.
Supper will be whatever. Exciting evening at FairyChatEstates.
Dindin has been ingested. I still intend to go to the vigil this evenin’ but truth be told, I feel like I could go to sleep right now. I’ve felt that way all afternoon. Guess I have a case of the Summer doldrums.
For shame! ![]()
 spidey That’s a headhunter I wouldn’t want to deal with on either end.
metal mouse, your vote was pretty much like most of mine in Tennesse: largely symbolic.
Nelson went to the vet this afternoon for his last round of puppy shots. He was really good, although he did wince when they took a stool sample. I scheduled him for the big snip and chip right after labor day. right now, I’m trying to wear him out enough that he sleeps well tonight.
I went to a **Dopefest **back on 2008 in Baltimore at the home of **wierddave **and Ginger of the North, and met a few other people of whom I cannot absolutely be sure of their names. And of course I have seen Mom, Spidey, BBBobbio and Metal Mouse at a few meetings since.
Was sent to Charlottesville yesterday. Those folks didn’t deserve that.
Not much new here - counting the days until summer ends.
Howdy Y’all! Back from the ecumenical service. 'Twas a very nice and fairly well attended service. Now I have ice cream. All is good.
Our house got ‘prowled’ last night. Apparently someone went through one gate, leaving it open, walked around the house in the back yard, and went out the other gate, and left that one open. At some point they opened the door to the garage and left that open as well. Nothing’s missing, as far as I can tell. (If you’d ever seen the inside of my garage you’d know why I can’t tell.) Called the cops, but since nothing is missing that I can identify, that’s it. I’m told there’s been a lot of ‘prowling’ going on around the downtown area lately.
Locked up the garage. I’ll have to find a padlock for the garden shed and make sure we have keys to the studio and lock them up too, from now on.
Wifey’s not so dismissive about that gun in the bedside table now. I’ve kept one handy ever since a good friend of mine was stabbed to death in his own kitchen by an intruder a few years ago.
Yes, I’m a liberal (mostly) but I’ve owned and operated firearms for 50 years, from back when they were just tools and everyone had one or two around, before they got anthropomorphized and politicized.
That’s all I’m gonna say about that.
Now then, where were we?
Headhunters. Don’t like 'em!
Interviews. Really don’t like 'em!:mad:
Sunny, I know what you mean about the barking & wrestling dogs, but it’s so seldom old man Schnauzer feels like playing with the kid (Yorkie) that we grin and bear it. Encourage it, even.
Have not read but will. mooommmm, i finally dug into the box of wigs and am most impressed. lucky Louie modeled a couple very unhappily. I just can’t thank you enough. If I can get my clerk to take pics or send me the ones she already took…well it was a sight to behold.
Now off to read.
Worked, came home, napped. The bank fixed the account Hoovering, but now the hotel put an extra $250 in my account.:dubious:
red, I wince when they shove things in there. I don’t blame Nelson a bit.
Tugig, I want it to be October, because hockey.
Doggiooo for your trouble i say but I know you are an honest fellow. Hope you had fun on the left coast. Were you greeted kindly by the Gordiemiester or is he mad at you?
. Rosie"s sig me as well.
