Guns, Runs, & Zev(u)ns - a Russian currency conspiracy MMP

Day four of the hostage situation. Today, the captors are forcing us to do an “innovation retreat”, where we’ll talk about innovation. Then we have to innovate. Am worried because I can’t innovate on demand. Also, I can’t think of an appropriate story for the icebreaker, which asks us to tell about a time we used creativity to solve a problem.

There will be an “optional” “fun” “easy” hike of 2 miles this afternoon. The person who sets this up runs; I don’t trust their judgement of “easy”. I’m going to accidentally forget about the hike and wear strappy sandals.

Getting sheveled soon. I don’t want to goooooo.

Up, sheveled and feeling better. Very strange ailment that was. A 12 hour sore throat. I have been awake since 230 ish so it shall be a very loooonnnnngggggg day. Arrrgggggg.

Madhare (I know that’s not your MMP name, but it’s the best I have before 10am), I had to go to those retreats now and then, jeez, whoever invented them got rich selling a stupid idea to corporate heads (with the Dilbert boss haircut), and we’re the ones who have to suffer through it.

Bumba, I’d echo FCM, 13 nights for $1,300, figuring you get room and 2-3 meals a day is a pretty good deal. But figure two round-trip airfares and budget for side trips at the places you’re visiting (the ship will offer tours at various prices, depends on your saavy traveller skills).

Garbage to put out and lawn to mow this morning…then soccer this afternoon with the four and five year olds. I’m getting to old for this stuff…

I accomplished errands includin’ a brand new case of tp. 96 shiny new rolls of tp in twelve packs in my storage buildin’ as I speak. Life is good.

madwabbit ugh! Glad all that is behind me. The only satisfaction I ever got out of that stuff was when I got to rate it and say how useless it all was.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. It’s hotter and more humid than Satan’s armpit.

Go for the one with more buzz.

Mandatory fun never is.

I’ve survived the morning, so there’s that. Just 3 anna half more hours till my weekend - huzzah!!

I don’t know if we’ll be able to go to the ballgame tomorrow evening - there’s 80% chance of rain. Guess we’ll see tomorrow.

There’s no chocolate on my desk. I feel a disturbance in The Force. Alas…

You have an entire storage building devoted to TP? Why am I not surprised?

Must you drone on? :dubious:

Happy Wednesday
I’m not a regular to this thread. But I’m stuck home because I had cataract surgery yesterday.
Which is quite possibly the only awesome non-elective surgery ever. Because it’s like the old joke
“Hey, Doc -will I be able to play the piano after this operation -Yes, cool, I could never play the piano before”. Because I can see better than I’ve ever been able to see. No more glasses, except I may need some light magnifiers for reading. But my original eyes needed lots of correction.

But I got a huge unintentional complement at the hospital. I’m in the waiting room and they call my name. I waved and went to follow the nurse- who says “I need you to bring ANN. You’re here with Ann, right? is she in the bathroom”. And I’m like "No, I’M Ann. Yes, I’m the 60 year old woman you are looking for.
Apparently the nurse looked at my chart and was expecting someone that looked much older.

And the wait for the surgery was forever, I was waiting on a gurney in this “holding room” The nurse suggested I take a nap and I replied I wasn’t sleepy just bored. They actually took this comment seriously and wheeled my gurney into this little unused guest waiting room that had a TV. Very nice of them and unexpected.

I baked a big batch of chawklit chip cookies as a surprise for OYKW and because I wanted cookies. What? I can be magnanimous and selfish at the same time if’n I want to!

Ann Hedonia (nickname to follow cause everyone gets one but I can’t brain right now) first welcome to the MMP! Glad the surgery went well. Do you now have super vision?

Ann welcome! I’m glad the surgery went so well.

Butters I hope the doc gets you straightened out. It does sound like strep from your description. :frowning:

MiL has arrived. Wheee!

I had quite the angry head this morning, so I went back to bed. This afternoon I must achieve grocery shopping. I also thought it would be good to get gas in both cars.

Tell me about that. I presume you were awake. Did they do anything to prevent your eye from moving?

I know what you mean - good, clean living pays off, right? I’m 63 and still no gray hairs and hardly any wrinkles. Go us!!!

And welcome to our playground!

They give you a very mild sedative ( described pretty accurately as the equivalent of a glass of wine) and some local anesthetic in the eye. Then they kind of tape the eye open but they don’t clamp your head in place or anything - I was spacey and kept wanting to close my eye but it was held open and my trying to close the eye didn’t seem to bother my surgeon.

The visuals are pretty wild though - especially as the lens comes out. It’s a quick procedure, I was in the OR for about twenty minutes, the actual procedure took about 10 minute.

The worst part is the no food restriction the day of the procedure, especially since mine was late in the day. Especially since the anesthesia is so mild. If I’ve got to fast I want better drugs:)

This was the second time I’ve had the procedure, I had the other eye done a few months ago. I had some discomfort after the surgery yesterday which I didn’t have the first time. I asked the surgeon and she says it has to do with the incision location which is affected by her dominant hand - and the incision in the right eye is in a slightly more sensitive location.

But it all feels good now and I’m getting used to my new vision.

HMM… we could go with Hedonist cause that’s close to Hedonia. OK others, weigh in.

Dindin has been ingested and I am in the midst of cleanin’ out the coffee maker with distilled vinegar and water. I’ve run the vinegar and water through and am now on the third and final pot of just filtered water. The directions for the coffee maker say I only need run one pot of water through but I’m OCD about that so I go with three.

Cool!

Thanks.

I don’t know if it is the lack of sleep or what but I just got into another argument with my best friend. It was a good way into the argument that I realized we were talking about two different things.
I just don’t know when she switched topics, but it was getting pretty heated until I said we are not talking about the same thing.

My supper was a grilled cheese sammich, and I’m thinking **FCD **needs to take me to DQ… We had a toad-soaker here before I got home, evidenced by the big puddle in the middle of the driveway. More rain forecast tomorrow - dunno what will happen with the ballgame.

I just finished loading the dishwasher - there were only 2 items that I couldn’t fit in there, and considering how many dirties we had, that’s remarkable!

Thus endeth my work week. Not sure what tomorrow will bring, but there will be laundry this weekend, including sheets. And more vacuuming - there’s Ziva all over the carpet. Beyond that, we shall see.

Glad you’re feeling better butters.

doggio, que es Utalian chicken?

bumba and sunny, we’re in the path of the total eclipse too. Hotel rooms have been sold out within three hours of Hopkinsville, KY (about an hour from Nashville) where they will have the max amount of darkness. My suburb on the SE side will get a bit less.

swampy, hedonist was my first thought too.

It was another run-start-to-finish-day for me. The morning began with Nelson taking a pee on the carpet  He hadn’t done that before. Then, I learned on FB that a childhood friend had passed. It didn’t get much better.

My car is dead! We were going to go to DQ, and it wouldn’t start, and I couldn’t depress the brake or get it out of park. We’ve got a trickle charge going on the battery at the moment, and I’ll call our car guy in the morning. If the charge doesn’t work, we’ll need to be towed, and if I can’t get it out of Park, I don’t know how it can be towed.

DAMMIT!

We’re pretty sure it’s probably the battery, altho based on what I’ve read of a few message boards, it could be a sensor in the brake system. In any event, we’re not going to mess with it beyond trying to charge the battery.

And on top of that, the triple truffle blizzard isn’t all that good, IMHO. Sad… :frowning:

Actually East Hedonia is close to Hedonia, but one from Hedonia is a Hedonist, just like one from Pittsburgh is a Pittsburgher & one from Baltimore is a Baltimoron & one from Central Arrgh-Kansas is…a PITA. :o

Hedonist it is.
Got an email (in my junk folder) from AccountsFacebook with the subject of, “1 messages that must be read bathrooms”. Ummm, okaaay, lemme go right to the bathroom & click on the link; I’m sure it’s perfectly safe.
