Guys - do you like long hair on girls?

Long and straight.

I also like black best, but any color (and I mean any) is fine.

I prefer long hair on women, but short is fine if the style compliments the face.

One thing I can’t stand is bangs. They look hideous on women. They are just shy of a mullet in terms of atrociousness. Betty Page’s 'do (gag!) being a good example.

I find waist length hair on a lady almost as distasteful as a one inch buzz cut. Maybe more so.

Yes, I prefer long hair on women and so do almost all of my male friends.

I have no idea why women will spend so much time worrying about things like their shoes when they’re trying to look good for men, and then they turn around and chop off all of their beautiful hair. Most men prefer long hair, but we don’t even notice your shoes. If you’re trying to attract a man you need to have your priorities in order.

I like thick, long, straight hair. Hair isn’t one of my top 5 physical characteristics though (well, not hair on the head anyhow).

I’ve tried long hair off and on and I doubt I ever will again.

You see, I have a ton of fine hair also and when it’s long, my hair just lays there and looks boring. And it’s super soft so wearing it up doesn’t work very well since all hair thingies just slide right out. And I refuse absolutely to ever again get a perm - gah, those things are smelly and terrible for your hair.

Now I wear my hair short, tucked behind my ears. I’m told I look like Janine Turner from her Northern Exposure days and heck, I’ll take that compliment any day of the week

With very few exceptions, I most definitely prefer long hair on women. I’ve had a couple of female friends who chopped their silky, soft, luxurious mid-back or waist length hair down to “boy-cut” length. Each of these incidents was followed by several days of mourning on my part, complete with me running through the streets, wailing and tearing my clothes.

You’re darned tootin’, Surreal.

I have found the Bizzaro World stuyguy! He is Surreal. There is nothing I find more attractive on a woman than short, short hair and hot, sexy shoes. Send me your rejects, buddy! [Smilie]

Well, since you asked, short hair just does not do it for me.

Sorry to be not-too-helpful here, but I’ve noticed a tendency in poll threads like this that they tend to draw people with extreme answers, particularly skewed towards the OP’s point (i.e., somebody asks, “Anybody like Toyotas?” and they get eight billion responses, then somebody asks “Anybody hate Toyotas?” and they get eight billion responses)…

So, hair. Long, short, medium, whatever. So long as you’re comfortable with it, and it’s clean enough that I don’t get caught up in snags when I run my hands through it, it’s all good.

Now, shoes, that’s a different matter…

Yeah right! Like we’re lookin’ at your hair.

I love long hair, I think that I would want someone with hair down to around half way down their backs. I would say that most women look better with longer hair. I remember one woman on the train a few years ago had nice long hair then one day had really short hair. I could have cried.

I’ve always had a thing (maybe it’s a fetish) for red hair. It has to be naturally red, though. That seems to be the one color they just can’t get right with dye jobs. Anyway, as for length, I like it fairly long - at least down to the shoulders, preferably to the middle of the back (Although I have met a small number of women who really do look great with shorter hair). Redheads look best to me with a little bit of a wavy thing going on, not really curly, but not entirely straight either. Second choice would be straight, fine blond hair also to the middle of the back or longer. Either one would be spectacular. Especially since she could then put it up in a pony tail - Holy Moley!!! Yaozah!

Yes, I prefer long hair. MY SO also makes me wear mine long- so that’s fair. Long hair is especially nice if a lady is rubenesque/zaftig.

However, if a girl is young, petite, and 'elfin"- then a short 'do
is sexy also.

Nothing wrong with short hair, but I’ve got a strong preference for women wearing it as long as they can so that it still looks good. Lucretia’s beautiful ass-length brown hair, for instance, is perfect.

So I second Surreal and Strainger here.

I have a thing for long hair. Sometimes I can’t even look at a woman with short hair! unless of course she is very beautiful with wonderful body, then I can make an exception…

Naturally as i like long hair i grew some myself. They are hard to keep nice and they are thick/curly/stubborn but I love them

I think most women look better with hair down just past their shoulders and that general vicinity.

What an odd question to ask.

I simply don’t care what men prefer. I’m the one who has to live with my head. I’ve chopped it off with quilting scissors and grown it out long… neither decision had to do with a man’s preference.

I saw a documentry on this woman going through cancer treatments, who had lost all her hair. I was so touched by how much she thought her hair represented her beauty and femininity. It was a real eye opener.

Hair is hair. That’s all.

True Mith, having had to shave off all my hair for surgery about 5 years ago, I too know how much a woman’s hair can mean to them. Especially when some dumb fucking cow told to her to “be careful of that man” when talking about me  stupid bitch. That decision wasn’t brought on by anything to do with any gender - it was a life and death situation for me.

Anyways (breathe, breathe, breathe) I grew my hair long after that, then the bf said he liked long hair so I was glad I could make him happy. I do care what he thinks. Having long hair makes me feel more feminine, I love the feel of it, the smell of it… and I love that he loves it. And I won’t be made to feel like some little silly girl for liking that. In fact, its about the only part of my body I do like - whereas he loves all of me.

I was just wondering whether his preferences were the norm, which, from this thread, they seem to be.

Rhino… you made me think with that last post … I’ve never thought much about my hair as an extention of who I am… it’s just that stuff atop my head. I keep it brushed and washed and all but I don’t really kill myself trying to style it or anything. I do remember being frustrated in high school when some meds made a lot of it fall out in clumps but that was mostly because it made people comment on it. Like I didn’t notice the hair leaving !!

But this last year my grandmother in law had colon cancer and of all the stuff that happened …, surgery, chemo, radiation … the thing that bothered her the most was that she couldn’t get a perm and her hair looked bad. Um I’d be more concerned with the colostomy and losing 50 pounds and being anemic… nope she was always fretting over her hair. She told me that “the value of a woman is in her hair” What a horrible thought!!!
