Guys - do you like long hair on girls?

Long, but not obnoxiously long. A few inches below the shoulder line = perfect.

It’s sort of interesting that this is being brought back from the dead at this point. Most men seem to prefer longer length hair, and I probably agree, but it doesn’t really matter much to me.

Anyways, the reason I say it’s interesting to come up now is that my girlfriend has longish hair (longer than shoulder length, but not down to the waist), and she was complaining about it a bit (hard to comb, takes too long to dry, etc.). So I suggested she cut it shorter, which pretty much horrified her. So I guess that’s sort of a counterpoint to what some people were saying in this thread where the woman would have liked it shorter but her bf wasn’t thrilled.

Of course, I’m the kind of guy who gets his hair cut every six months, progressing from military to mop-head over that time period. Maybe I should ask my girlfriend what she thinks of this - it’s never really come up.

Longer hair is better. Unless you can really work that 'waif" look, in which case a really short 'do is nice.

Ruebenesqe ladies- do not let your hairdresser talk you into believing that cutting your hair short will make you look less heavy. It’s not true.

I’ll take a skinny little thing with short dark hair, please.

I like really short hair or really long hair on girls. I also like extremely tall women (5’ 10" or taller). Also thin. Blondes are best. So, a tall thin blonde with short hair is heavenly…

I have a strong preference for women with short to very short hair. Some women do not look good with short hair and if I’m not really attracted to a long haired woman, just cutting her hair probably won’t make much difference. If a woman has the right features and personality (confidence) to pull it off, I find short hair very attractive. On an otherwise attractive woman I find hair longer than mid shoulder blade length to be a turnoff. I associate really long hair (approaching waist length) with some of the really super conservative religious groups common around here. The women in these groups typically don’t wear makeup, jewelry, pants, heels or shorter than calf length dresses. Fine if you’re into that…I’m not.

Yikes, zombied!

Without reading the thread, my answer is “yes, in most cases.” I know several women who go from plain to gorgeous when they let their hair down. It really is a stunning, can’t-take-my-eyes-off-of-them transformation.

I’ve only known one woman who got her hair cut short and looked appreciably better, and she was very thin (and got her braces removed at around the same time, ergo, a confounding variable). I dated a woman who I liked better in short hair because she looked more confident and individualistic, but that was more a personal preference; most people would probably say she looked prettier with longer hair.

Different face shapes and different body types may be complemented by different hair styles. There are no absolutes, but I find the long straight hair with bangs look that was so much a part of the latter part of the 60s when I was growing up hard to beat. You certainly continue to see it on a lot of young women today. Thank goodness the ratty perms of the 80s and 90s have gone out of favor.

Generally, for me the more natural the look, the better. Once women reach their 40s or so, a great many of them begin wearing so-called “mature” hairstyles, most of which I find overdone and immensely unattractive. It’s almost akin to announcing “OK, I’m officially old now, so I’ve just given up.”

My wife will turn 64 at the end of this year, and she still has the same long, dark hair she’s always had (a bit longer than shoulder-length). She also wears no makeup. I can’t imagine her any other way. She is often taken for at least 15 years younger than her actual age.

Who cares? Question is still relevant.

Could’ve started a new thread.

I feel the same way as the necromancer.

For real - how the heck did I do THAT???:smack:

I only rate women with long hair. Past shoulders barely counts, but it improves as long as it gets.

Obviously, as a matter of principle people have a near absolute right to express themselves as they wish, no matter what others think. But one is free to think.

Personally, I rather privately despise anyone, female or male, with short hair; although I would never let them know this, same as one can’t tell anyone their shortcomings ever, as an iron rule.

Two zombie hair threads going at once. Should we be worried?

Long hair always. Some women look fine with short hair. I can’t think of one who looks better with short hair. The picture posted above is a prime example of how it’s impossible to argue taste. Anne Hathaway with short hair? Looks like a dude. All I see is big nose and big ears. Anne Hathaway with long hair? Beautiful.http://www.bellasugar.com/Anne-Hathaway-Golden-Globes-2011-Pictures-Hair-Makeup-13292794

Before replying, I thought I better check and see if I already have. Found this:

My taste has not changed much in the last 11 years.

I liked it more when I was younger, but now I tend to prefer shorter hair that can be given some sort of shape. And short hair can often greatly increase a woman’s attractiveness.

Though it doesn’t always work: see Miley Cyrus. She’s finally working with it and making it better, but, at first, it looked awful.

Absolutely. I see few women who can pull off the short-haired look.

At the beginning of the 20th Century, the Seven Sutherland Sisters all had hair long enough to reach the ground. Well, they were the ones who had to wash, dry, and style it.
These days Crystal Gayle seems to be the popular one with long hair.

In one of David Feldman’s Imponderables books, he quotes a reader who suggests that, because the hair itself ages, same as the rest of the woman, long hair on an older woman makes her look like “a witch or a hillbilly.” I used to know a woman in her 80s who had her hair long, but always kept it pinned up.

Huh? Hair on a human head has an average lifespan of 3-5 years:

So the hair on the head of a 8 year old girl is the same age as that on the head of an 80 year old woman. Unless he meant graying as a sign of aging:confused:
